Linwoods Ratings and Reviews
We arrived about 10-15 minutes early for our 11:30am reservation. We were told we could not be seated because it was too early. We waited by the reception in the seats and bench provided. 5 minutes later a woman walked in and announced her party name to the hostess. She was offered to either wait where we were or to sit at her table since she was the first to arrive. It was odd that we were treated differently. We were seated at 11:29am. We were a 5 top and seated in a corner at a 4 top table. When we asked the waiter why were were in the corner at such a small table he said that all of the other tables had been reserved. We enjoyed our food. Paid our tab at 2:10pm. When we walked through the restaurant it was very obvious that half of the restaurant had available tables. I would recommend this restaurant for the food. The staff needs training. We spent well over $400 however we did not receive proper courtesy for the money we spent.
Classic lines, minimalist decor brings the atmosphere to a high end NYC steakhouse. Now old fashioned open kitchen reminisces of restaurant concepts of days gone by. A limited menu confuses the ambiance with wood fired pizzas and a burger on the menu. Definitely a conflict with front and back of the house. Specials include a barley soup that was below par and a venison loin. God this place loves bacon as they put it in almost anything.
Wine list was ample, but way too expensive for the selections provided. The food itself was well-seasoned. I had the tenderloin with a red wine and truffle reduction. Could not taste the truffles. Their take on potatoes dauphinois was little fried mashed potato balls.
However, with that said the food was tasty and well seasoned. Clientele is on the older side so for the 70 and up generation this place is definitely a hit. No pizazaz, nothing special but a friendly wait staff. I'll go back for my 70th birthday.
I think that Linwood's is the best restaurant in Baltimore.... at least it's the one I prefer for very special occasions. The food is always outstanding, the service has always been great, and there's a nice friendly atmosphere. It doesn't hurt that Linwood's is near by to me - and the parking is fine too.
OMG! We LOVE this place! The chef is not just amazing he’s considerate also. I have severe allergies and he has modified many amazing dishes just for me. Our server was so awesome that she remembered my exact allergies! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!!! One of the few places that I feel blessed to have found them.
Never a bad meal at Linwood's.
Why don't we go to Linwood's more often? The ambiance is always warm, and the place always seems to be crowded, even on weeknights. Servers are polite and attentive. Mixed drinks are generous - we had Manhattans up, and there was enough in the shaker for another half drink.
Food was delicious as always. Sea bass was delicious and well-cooked. Price fixe menu was a bargain, with oysters, steak, and dessert.
We had a leisurely dinner on a weeknight, very nice.
Our lunch was very delicious. The most amazing thing about our visit was that the wonderful Pastry Chef transformed a very obviously homemade (and not very pretty) birthday cake we brought into a thing of beauty!! He frosted it and added some strawberries and been leaves. It was wonderful and so very appreciated. Also, the hostess was especially lovely and attentive
Consistently good food. We eat here several times a year and although there are some seasonal menu changes the food and preparation are always excellent. Service is pleasant and attentive and Chef Linwood usually circulates to make sure everyone is satisfied.
A rather elite dining spot but consistently dependable quality. They offer a pre-fixed 3 course option as well as their traditional fare. There is also brick oven pizza (a pleasant surprise) and the chocolate sundae is incredible. Our Server was attentive and accommodating without hovering. Very good experience.
Very nice. The food was innovative and good, not exceptional. The service was good. There was a problem with another guest near us. It was handled well but, again, not exceptional. They need to understand, with high prices you expect an exceptional experience. I will return as I think they will figure it out. The basics are there, just a little more experience will improve them to the phenomenal.
