Linwoods Ratings and Reviews
Classic lines, minimalist decor brings the atmosphere to a high end NYC steakhouse. Now old fashioned open kitchen reminisces of restaurant concepts of days gone by. A limited menu confuses the ambiance with wood fired pizzas and a burger on the menu. Definitely a conflict with front and back of the house. Specials include a barley soup that was below par and a venison loin. God this place loves bacon as they put it in almost anything.
Wine list was ample, but way too expensive for the selections provided. The food itself was well-seasoned. I had the tenderloin with a red wine and truffle reduction. Could not taste the truffles. Their take on potatoes dauphinois was little fried mashed potato balls.
However, with that said the food was tasty and well seasoned. Clientele is on the older side so for the 70 and up generation this place is definitely a hit. No pizazaz, nothing special but a friendly wait staff. I'll go back for my 70th birthday.
I think that Linwood's is the best restaurant in Baltimore.... at least it's the one I prefer for very special occasions. The food is always outstanding, the service has always been great, and there's a nice friendly atmosphere. It doesn't hurt that Linwood's is near by to me - and the parking is fine too.
OMG! We LOVE this place! The chef is not just amazing he’s considerate also. I have severe allergies and he has modified many amazing dishes just for me. Our server was so awesome that she remembered my exact allergies! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!!! One of the few places that I feel blessed to have found them.
Never a bad meal at Linwood's.
Why don't we go to Linwood's more often? The ambiance is always warm, and the place always seems to be crowded, even on weeknights. Servers are polite and attentive. Mixed drinks are generous - we had Manhattans up, and there was enough in the shaker for another half drink.
Food was delicious as always. Sea bass was delicious and well-cooked. Price fixe menu was a bargain, with oysters, steak, and dessert.
We had a leisurely dinner on a weeknight, very nice.
Our lunch was very delicious. The most amazing thing about our visit was that the wonderful Pastry Chef transformed a very obviously homemade (and not very pretty) birthday cake we brought into a thing of beauty!! He frosted it and added some strawberries and been leaves. It was wonderful and so very appreciated. Also, the hostess was especially lovely and attentive
Consistently good food. We eat here several times a year and although there are some seasonal menu changes the food and preparation are always excellent. Service is pleasant and attentive and Chef Linwood usually circulates to make sure everyone is satisfied.
A rather elite dining spot but consistently dependable quality. They offer a pre-fixed 3 course option as well as their traditional fare. There is also brick oven pizza (a pleasant surprise) and the chocolate sundae is incredible. Our Server was attentive and accommodating without hovering. Very good experience.
Very nice. The food was innovative and good, not exceptional. The service was good. There was a problem with another guest near us. It was handled well but, again, not exceptional. They need to understand, with high prices you expect an exceptional experience. I will return as I think they will figure it out. The basics are there, just a little more experience will improve them to the phenomenal.
Linwood's is a perfect special occasion restaurant. We had great drinks + appetizers (including tempura lobster) followed by excellent entrees (Crabcakes) and impressive deserts. A few friends were all mutually celebrating turning 40. It felt warm + special. So glad we choose Linwood's.
Linwood's never disappoints. There were nine of us, so we got a nice sampling of the menu, although several people ordered and enjoyed the delicious scallops entree. Their fried oysters are some of the best I've tasted, the lobster tempura impeccably prepared. Go to Linwood's!
My friend and I both have dietary restrictions and Linwoods was fantastic in helping us to have a great birthday celebration without compromising our health. The food and service were great. The prices are on the high side, but they do offer a prix fixe menu option. This was my first visit and I will certainly return.
THE go to place in suburban Baltimore for exceptional food and impeccable service. Linwoods consistently delivers a memorable dining experience, no matter what the occasion. I recently made lunch reservations at Linwoods to celebrate my sister's birthday. I called in advance to request a pear tart for dessert because my sister love's pears and they are in season now (October). At the end of the meal, my sister was presented with a specially made pear tart, with vanilla ice cream, and a birthday candle....enough for sharing. The pastry chef had gone above and beyond! The tart (and rest of the meal) were perfect. My sister was delighted....as was I. Bravo Linwoods!!! Will definitely return soon. I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area, where we have our fair share of notable restaurants. Would love to see a Linwoods West open up there soon!
My friend treated me to a wonderful 70th birthday celebration. I was offered to be immediately seated while waiting for my friend, which I accepted. Unfortunately for him, he experienced a couple of unavoidable delays, so he was very late for our reservation. While I was waiting, I had a soothing glass of wine and a few rolls. But, once he got there, everything, including the food and service was great. Claudia was our server and was very understanding, supportive, and comforting to me as a result of the circumstances. She provided extra rolls and asked if I wanted to order an appetizer while waiting (I had advised her of the delays when my friend called, once to handle an unexpected emergency, and once for a traffic accident blocking the entire road, sincerely apologizing). I cannot say enough good things about her and how she handled the situation assuring me that she understood and not to worry about holding the table. This speaks very well for the Restaurant and the service. Nothing less than top notch.
Linwoods is always in the top of their game! Their seasonal options always amaze and I have learned to eat slow as to savor each and every bite. This is our anniversary spot as they catered our wedding and will be for many years to come. Their food is fresh and cooked to perfection and the staff are always on point.
Went for wedding anniversary, had an early reservation but somehow was not the first group/couple there. Service was prompt, staff was friendly and attractive. Slightly pricey (roughly $100 for couple w/o wine) but delicious. You get what you pay for. Drinks were tasty and food was well worth it.
