Linwoods Ratings and Reviews
Fries with the crab cake were over done and hard to eat. The rolls were very tough. The servers kept handing the wrong food to the wrong person. The tenderloin dish did not make any sense. The Asian flavors with the vegetables were completely confusing and didn’t go with the dish at all. The man on cold side kept leaning all over the counter....also didn’t need to be subjected to his singing. The lady running middle was awesome and was doing a great job. Not a great experience overall. Definitely didn’t live up to my first experience there several years ago.
Linwood's is consistently perfect . Delicious and beautifully presented food, realistic portions, creative and changing menu options but still offers "favorites", outstanding service, FABULOUS cocktails and other bar options. I recently had an amazing dish of scallops and (perfect) risotto and quite possibly the best white chocolate banana cream pie that I have ever tasted . Thanks for remaining a gem of a restaurant through the test of time.
We received a warm welcome. Our waitress was very attentive. She was very knowledgeable about the wine selections and entree selections. She made appropriate recommendations as to the temperature of selected meats or fish being considered. Our dinner was superb. Our desserts were on point. It was a wonderful night that we shared with family.
One of our favorite Baltimore County restaurants. We love everything about Linwoods. The food, the service, the ambiance, the attention to detail - everything! Our server, Ben, was great - attentive without being intrusive. Our appetizers were great - spinach and wedge salad. My go-to meal is the delicious liver and onions -- I know, I know, but I have loved it since childhood. The preparations here is incredible. Last night's portion was 4 slices - the first 3 were cooked perfectly - the 4th must have been a late add-on because it was definitely not medium-plus - more like rare-plus. The 1st three slices were delectable but could not eat the 4th with the the dark red color. Will continue to order but will definitely emphasize that I want no red. My husband really enjoyed the lamb pasta. We definitely enjoyed the sundae and creme brulee! Looking forward to our next visit!
Linwoods is a wonderful place to eat for any occasion, but especially when you want to celebrate an important moment. The food and service were outstanding. Our water glasses were filled continuously. I went with a male friend from Ireland and he was totally impressed by the whole experience.
We were actually very disappointed. It was our anniversary and we shared this when making the reservation and when arriving. We were at first seated at a 2 top in an aisle and against a beam. We asked to be moved to a corner table and they did accommodate this. Due to the situating of the other tables around us we had the waiters backside in our faces all night, which was quite uncomfortable. Training should have been given for him to angle himself , to avoid this issue. My husband ordered the veal chop - cooked medium to medium well and it came out almost raw. He sent it back to be cooked more (as did others at tables Around is). When He cut into it, there was a large piece of gristle going through it, making it almost impossible to cut and it was still raw near the bone. They did take it off the bill, but this shouldn’t occur in a restaurant of this caliber. I had the “4 Oz. Tenderloin”, which was very good, but ridiculously small. They shouldn’t even offer a 4 Oz. Portion of tenderloin- 6 Oz. Should be where a dinner portion starts and should be offered for the 4 Oz
Price. The service was fair- it was often hard to get anyone’s attention in a timely manner
and the server seemed very rushed.
Despite so many other glowing reviews, my experience was very disappointing:
-The menu is a bit “Cheesecake Factory”, meaning they cover the gamut of cuisines...burgers, pizzas, sushi, steaks, seafood, tacos...whew...
-The food suffers from lack of execution (not surprising given that the menu is all over the place): A first course of short rib ravioli with cauliflower purée came out the first time with very undercooked (well below al dente) pasta with cold, not lukewarm, cauliflower purée. I asked the server if it was meant to be cold as a contrast and was assured it was not. While it was replaced, the second version was still terribly undercooked. A second course of Brussels sprouts Caesar salad was simply a reimagined side dish of roasted sprouts and should have remained a side dish (and was that red dash of sauce on the cheese crisp actually Tabasco?). The final dish of branzino filets was better, if overcooked and rubbery at the edges.
-Our server had 8 tables, including ours, plus a table of 13 (apparently, someone had called in sick). Needless to say, her visits to our table were very limited and lightning fast. She seemed lovely, but overwhelmed.
We won’t go back and will instead make the trek to the city.
Food was delicious, service was ok wait servers were a lil standoffish , made reservations with a note indicating a bday for twins and neither one received a complementary cake but another guest did a table over. If I come back I’ll do take out if offered don’t think I’ll dine back in
