L'inizio Ratings and Reviews
Our first time and we were pleasantly surprised! We really enjoyed the food and would highly recommend checking out L'inizio. Fresh product and great flavors!
We started with a radicchio salad (special) and a half order of the bolognese pasta, both were very tasty. I ordered the daily fish (Branzino) which was cooked perfectly, crispy skin and a flavorful sauce. My husband ordered the chicken, which he enjoyed. We finished with the chocolate tart, the perfect ending! Good wine selection. We'll definitely be back!
It was my second visit to this restaurant. My husband and I went with our friends this time. The food is outstanding, and our waiter, Matt was absolutely fabulous. He was attentive, courteous, funny and very informative. We will definitely be returning to L'inizio soon.
5 star meal. Beautiful farm-to-table feel. Impeccable quality, superior taste, outstanding service...no words - just satisfied smiles.
My wife and I have enjoyed this local West Chester gem for years. Without a doubt - this nook of natural, other-worldly gardens' is second to none.
We really like this restaurant. Came here when it first opened several years ago and a couple of times recently now that we live closer. The food is really very creative and the portion sizes just right. The pasta dishes cooked to perfection. Must try their cheesecake - it's so delicious. It's going to be a regular!
If you are considered an above average restaurant then everything should be above average. An example, the octopus salad should look and taste like an octopus salad. My salad had everything but octopus. There were 3 SMALL pieces. I asked about this to the waitress, but nothing was done.
High expectations from good reviews when we came were not fulfilled. Started by ordering a bottle of wine from blackboard special, then it was no longer available. The owner suggested a similar wine, only $10 more. I did that, but no, you don't offer at a higher price when you are out of the listed wine. I eat out regularly and when this occurs on occasion the management says take this one at same price. I ordered as entrée the special pan seared top round lamb. Was it tough! Even though given a steak knife, one piece could not be cut after much effort. The others I just chewed and chewed until I swallowed. I really should have sent it back, but didn't want to take the effort. Could say more but this should be enough to give you at least my impression.
This restaurant came recommended by a friend. Food was ok. Not amazing. Not worth the price. Service was terrible. We had to flag down the waiter for everything; from getting a drink to an extra piece of bread. Then while having dinner, a waiter asked if we were done with the salt and took it and gave to another customer? They didn't have more salt? lol. Much better choices in Westchester county.
So sad to say that we've always enjoyed our meals here but, unfortunately, the last few experiences have been lacking. No bread served until we asked, way overdressed salads, prosciutto included (and upsettingly eaten until caught) in a salad with only vegetarian ingredients listed on the board (no apology) and overly al dente pasta.
I brought a friend on a prior occasion who found the combination of ingredients in her entree unpleasant.
The owner hasn't been there to talk to (in the front of the house) for any of these evenings so I'm finally writing a review :(.
On the plus: great, low key vibe, wonderfully flavorful and authentic, unpretentious but very well crafted food.
I would only ask that the wait for entrees be shortened-by alot!
Also our entrees were only moderately warm when they arrived to table, and the restaurant was not full to capacity by any means. We were so hungry by that point no way would we have returned the food. Our server was certainly gracious and pleasant, but entrees shouldnt have taken so long.
33$ three course prix fixe a good deal, as well
The appetizers, pastas, and secondi were all very good, but the meal was marred by very poor service from our waiter. We had to remind him 3 times about the wine we had ordered, and then the same thing happened with the coffee. Each time, he blamed someone else for not getting the ticket right. He did not seem to take an interest in getting things right. The kitchen staff deserve better help!
Chef Scott never disappoints us!! The carrot ginger soup absolutely delicious and the octopus app always is superb. Love the change in menu and look forward to the summer bounty! Service fantastic as usual ! Heather's special raspberry dessert was excellent.
Drove to Ardsley for Mother's Day.
There is a separate bar and two dining areas. The staff is helpful and attentive. There was a very light and creative strawberry rhubarb mimosa. Wonderful appetizers and a gorgeous omelette. But the desserts are divine. This is a charming intimate restaurant that has a casual vibe with a sophisticated attitude toward good food.
This is not our first time here. The food is really great, but this time, they ruined a very special occasion for us.
I phone ahead of time, told them it's my wife's birthday, that it's a surprise, and that I want a cake/candle. They assured me that they got it and that she'll get a great surprise. Then to MY surprise, the second we arrived and announced our names, the lady checking us in looked at my wife and told her: Oh, it's your birthday, right? Which really ruined the evening for me.
Then when we were done with our meal, they asked whether we wanted dessert, brought the dessert menu, and came back asking for our dessert order. At which point I told the waiter that this is wrong, the lady at check in shouldn't have spoiled the surprise, and they should just bring the cake instead of asking for our dessert order. All he did in response was to offer us a free dessert, which is $10 off our $154 bill!!!
We really didn't want any freebies, just wanted a sincere apology and for them to promise that they'll be more careful with other customers in the future and not ruin their special occasions. The guy never even said: Sorry!
Had a reservation on. Saturday evening for 7:15pm, and were not seated until 8pm after we turned down a table right near the door (which should be reserved for those that walk-in). Since the bar opened, we are not as enthusiastic about this restaurant. Food is still excellent but they seem overwhelmed. Our waiter never informed us of the specials. Not sure when or if I will return, I feel this restaurant has run its course for me.
