Fantastic meal in my home town of Ardsley, NY with my 87 year old mom and my sister-in-law (older brother's wife)
The food was excellent and we enjoyed three pasta dishes (carbonera, Seafood and duck), a chicken dish with sausages was brought to us after the pasta (as we requested). The ricotta with honey appetizer was also enjoyed by all.
We had the doughnut holes with chocolate sauce for dessert which was also very good.
The servers were very attentive to the needs of my Mom who uses a walker.
Some of the other patrons knew my sister-in-law and chatting with them made the evening more enjoyable.
I will definitely be back.
One minor quibble is that my pasta dish was not quite as hot (in temperature) as I would have preferred.
Looking forward to another meal here during my next NY visit.
Interesting and delicious menu everytime. There is outdoor seating with heaters which is great right now, but they are always a win.
Outdoors: owners did a nice job with a backyard next to a auto repair place. we were Kept warm with 3 large propane heaters. They should add some more plants and perimeter screening
Drinks: reasonable wine prices and good quality, nice pear martini- but no draft beer available- why?
Octopus with Chorzio sausage with beans and fresh crisp vegetables - delicious, but needed more Octopus pieces and less sausage wheels
Brussel sprouts - very large portion for one person, great flavor but reduce the portion size and price
Creste di Gallo - mushrooms were the bomb, kale was tender. I never saw pasta shaped like a rooster's head crest
Special - razor clams with home made parpadelle and sausage. Great broth/sauce - al dente pasta
Improvements: take away the chef's salt shaker. The flavors in the food need NO additional salt
Javier was a wonderful waiter and made our outdoor dinner a lovely extra.
We had a wonderful experience at L'Inizio. Great ambience, food delicious. Very cozy. The bar they opened adjacent is a great addition. Highly recommend.
The Sunday brunch at L'Inizio was great. The food and service was excellent. Choices of breakfast or lunch type entrees, all very reasonably priced. Only slight negative was that it DID get a bit loud in the small back room when some larger groups arrived.
Always a great meal when we dine here…. A small hidden gem with a menu that is sure to please. Dare I say we have never had a bad meal here and this is not something I can say about most places.
Excellent choice for dinner in the Rivertowns. The pasta dishes are outstanding.
The food was excellent with many exciting choices. You must try two
appetizers and share them.
As always a meal to remember. I recommend L'Inizio wholeheartedly!
Very good northern italian. Service was slow and not particularly attentive. Large outdoor space but it’s basically the parking lot behind the restaurant. Plastic tables. Having said all that, it’s a very good option if you have to eat in Ardsley.
Exceptional service and food every time! Don't delay in making your reservation! Enjoy :)
Last-minute reservations. Great food service and recommendations from the server. Will definitely visit again.
Always an amazing experience when dining at L'inizio! Amazing food, specialty cocktails, a lovely wine selection, and don't forget the desserts! The blistered eggplant special was amazing - try it while its on the menu!!! Truly a hidden gem in Ardsley! One of our very favorite places to eat.
Made a reservation via Open Table a month in advance and planned for a family reunion of sorts at L’Inizio. Had family traveling from over an hour away just to show up at the door and learn they are closed. I understand (from a local not from the website or Open table) that the restaurant had a flood and doesn’t reopen for a few more days. While I remain sympathetic that they experienced a flood - HOW DO YOU NOT NOTIFY FOLKS THAT HAD EXISTING RESERVATIONS OR ON YOUR WEBSITE OR ON OPEN TABLE?????
We’ve always been big fans of L’Inizio but haven’t been eating in restaurants much lately due to Covid. It was so great to be back and to enjoy their fantastic new outdoor seating area. Food was as wonderful as always, service too even though they were pretty busy. Heather and Scott and their team always knock it our if the park!
Reliable mid to high end Italian; excellent parmesan linguine nero w/ seafood hit the spot.
The food was excellent. The homemade pasta with kale, truffles and mushrooms was so out of this world. I’m salivating thinking about it and the crispy Brussel sprouts .
Can’t wait to go back and try more pasta.
Very annoying banging door . Outside dinning caused the door to bang with wait staff going in and out. Management said nothing he could do. Inside seating in back room is terrible. The prices are high with no consideration for diners indoors comfort. When the ambience is poor who could appreciate any effort to enjoy the food
SO HESITANT TO GIVE 5 STAR because after this I know I won’t be able to get back in. However…. They deserve it!!!
This is the second time I have been here and both meals were wonderful. Not an unsatisfied guest at either dinner and these are tough pallets to please. Surprisingly, they had a wine we just had in Sardinia, which was wonderful, the cocktails are fun and the pastas amazing!!!! Go hungry, do it tapas style and try it all… you won’t be disappointed!!!
Our favorite place in Westchester. Consistently innovative and expertly prepared cuisine in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Bravo. One tiny negative is the way-too-of-the-moment muzak that doesn’t match the rest of the tone. I’m sure that there’s marketing data that says it makes folks spend more but it doesn’t do the restaurant justice.
Among a county full of expensive and mediocre restaurants, L'Inizio was a very pleasant surprise. Loved having the option of half-order pasta dishes so as not to miss out on heartier main courses. Ate indoors because of the rain but the outdoor patio area looked very nice. Will definitely go back
Very pleasant evening and meal was delicious.
Just keeps getting better and better. The food is excellent and overall experience is top notch
The cauliflower special was phenomenal, as was the chicken scarpariello. Wonderful night out.
Second time we had dinner here and it was really good. The chicken scarpariello and the pasta bolognese were delicious. My only "complaint" is, the wine list is lacking. Not great choices and prices a bit high for what they're serving.
Really good food and service. The waitress was very attentive. Would eat there again.
Great food, service & very accommodating in terms of seating preference.
Small town restaurant with AMAZING Italian/European food, they offer a great Sunday Brunch... We just came back from Europe and we were a little bit nostalgic... the food completely delivered vs expectations. We loved the place and definitely we will be back
Amazing from start to finish!! Best restaurant in Westchester 😊🍷🍽
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food, overall great dining experience!
Not sure how this place got to #7 on Westchester magazine...the bar did mot have the brand of gin that we drink., the menu was limited my veal samtibucca was dry and over cooked, my husband's sauce was ok...his birthday was ruined..worse meal i had in a very long time!!!!
The food/service was amazing!
One of our new favorite restaurants
Never disappointed. Our go to place for a relaxing evening with great food.
Good and service were outstanding! It was a little brighter than it has been in past so ambience not as great.
Were able to move us inside when rain was forecasted. Very attentive waitstaff, food excellent and always great options on menu.
loved the food BUT female waitress was NOT on top of her game
We really enjoyed our dinner at L'inizio. The staff was lovely and welcoming and our table was fine though I was surprised that two other diners were seated next to us in a largely empty room. The table was next to the air conditioner, which was a bit much on a cool evening. The potato chips were fantastic as were the clams appetizer. We had to ask for some bread since there was no way we were going to let the sauce on the clams go to waste. I had a couple of issues with the black pepper carbonara. For one, I felt the pasta was overcooked. And I also thought that it was a bit overcomplicated for what should be a very simple dish. My husband ate every last bit of his octopus and my son loved his pasta as well. I was extremely surprised that a couple of the pastas that included seafood also included Parmesan in their ingredient lists, which prevented me from ordering them. My entree was the chicken scarpariello, which was very tasty, but by then I was too full for more than a few bites. My husband loved his chicken parmigiana, which he got with a side of pasta marinara. That pasta was also a bit overcooked to my taste and was far more complicated than a marinara ought to be. My son really enjoyed his pork tenderloin, which was a special. We both loved the bombaloni but we were disappointed that they were cake donuts rather than raised donuts. However, it didn't stop us from enjoying every last bite. We will certainly return, but I will definitely specify al dente for the pasta next time.
Food is very creative, beautifully prepared and outstandibg
