Linda Modern Thai Ratings and Reviews
Dinner on April 4, 2017
The main meal of fried rice, and the curry were brought to the table, before the soup.
Waitress brought soup and then ventured to the kitchen to get soup bowls. The soup was cold.
There were no serving spoons, neither for the rice not the curry. The food was cold.
After 10 minutes into our meal, the waitress passed by to inquire if all was ok. We pointed out that the soup was cold, spoons missing, etc. No apology offered.
On hearing the exchange with the waitress, The head waiter came by to inquire what happened. We reiterated our frustration. No apology offered.
At the time of paying, No apology offered.
I was disappointed with the dining experience; in particular, the service that the waitress provided was quite disappointing. There was some small spills of sauce from our appetizers onto our table. The waitress neglected to clean or wipe the table, even though she came by 2-3 times to collect the plates, and refill our drinks. When I realized that the waitress had no intention of cleaning our table, I cleaned it myself with paper towels that I grabbed from the washroom.
Furthermore, the restaurant was only 10-15 full, but nevertheless we were seated at a very small table in a very confined space. As well, we were not offered the opportunity to hang up our heavy coats in their closet, as other guests had. We had to eat with the heavy coats draped over the small chairs. The food was good, but the mussels were undercooked, and in general, food quality was not worth the prices. Would probably not return.
Great dinner with good service. This was our first visit to Linda's. We shared four different dishes amongst the four of us and enjoyed each one. The large mango salad was actually larger than we expected and was quite good. The Shrimp Pad Thai was pleasantly spiced making it quite enjoyable. All of the other dishes were also good. The bill was also lower than expected although we didn't drink or have desert.
The menu have changed so their famous seafood fried rice is no longer available. The menu become less choices. Service, since I left my coat in the coat closet I couldn't get my coat back due to my serve left my table after gotten my payment. And all other server wouldn't attend to me since I am not their table. My server was good but too busy.
Terrible service. Waited 10 minutes to get served. Then waited another 10 minutes just to get water on the table. Server had a hard time remembering what each of us ordered (came back twice to double check). Didn't know what a Ginger Ale with Rye was - she told us "we only have one kind of Ginger Ale" then proceeded to bring out a glass of plane Ginger Ale. We waited for the appetizers that ended up served with all the main courses. All the appetizers and main courses arrived at the same time. Complete chaos. When we complained to the manager on duty we got lectured that this is the style they serve (i.e. everything at the same time). Couldn't believe it! They did comp the appetizers (three orders) in the end but included the 15% service charge on the bill (I guess because we were 7). Would not have added any tip whatsoever. Will never go back.
Food was pretty good as usual. But then my interactions with the waitress reminded me why I haven't been there in a while or why I don't go more. The waitress is rude and blunt and have zero customer service concept. A basic question from us turned into her giving us a lecture and telling us how she's worked there since inception of the place and she knows it all. Well good for you waitress.
Excellent Thai resto in a suburban mall. The shops at Don Mills are becoming of higher quality, so the traffic passing by Linda's is steadier, which is great. This restaurant is a real gem with superb cooking and flawless presentation. Linda normally schmoozes with all customers when she is in town. She remembers everybody making all feel welcome. This ethic permeates with all the staff. Our server M(Elissa) was gracious, helpful, and pleasant, doubled as the maitre d' because the resto was short staffed on the evening we were there. This did not affect the excellent service
The food was worse than all the Thai restaurants I have tried before, nothing was impressive. They put the Naan and Doughnuts desserts in a paper bag, and gave them to me directly after microwave. I really do not paper bag should be one kind of presentation in restaurant food. Although the decor of the restaurant was outstanding, the washroom was extremely dirty.
The service was great but the food not so much. Everything was quite greasy. The noodle dish was adequate but nothing special compared to other restaurants. Curry was the only thing that was worth ordering. The vegetarian dishes, especially the one with TVP was not good at all. Go there for the service and the decor, don't expect anything special with the food.
The presentation of food and the menu has changed completely from 2 years ago. And the quality has decreased, the tables at the store front were cold & the dinning room was just not comfortable to sit in. Have to wear your coat if you sit at the tables close to the window whereas the washroom was very hot. Nothing special about the food at all. No surprises. Must have changed owner or chiefs.
We were told the restaurant was quiet as we were told we had missed the Saturday night dinner rush. The server was enthusiastic, but the greeter was less than thrilled to be there so did not give a good first impression. Food quality was okay. Table was not cleaned/wiped between courses and the floor under our chairs was littered with food droppings from previous diner. Not a nice impression. Doubt we will be back.
I went for lunch with a friend. We ordered the pad thai, which was very good! Came wrapped in a very thin egg crepe. Looked like a too large portion...but it was so good we ate the whole thing. Also ordered the mango salad platter. It came with mango salad, and several shrimp skewers. The mango was finely sliced and also delicious! We also had the mango tea, which was great too. So...will definitely return.
A group of friends and I had dinner there a few weeks ago and were placed at a circular table near the bar (close to the bathrooms), and although it wasn't an ideal area, it felt sectioned off by the diving wall (posts) that gave off the impression that the 7 of us were at a table all to ourselves.
The food was amazing and the price was affordable for all of us. We enjoyed the ambiance and were very grateful for the server's ability to remember our dietary restrictions, because there were a few. I would definitely recommend this place to Thai food lovers, I would also go a step further and recommend the panang curry beef...it is mouth-wateringly delicious!
We have been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed every bite and have recommended it to friends and family. Unfortunately this time the food was disappointing. We ordered our favorite dishes the chicken pad Thai and the Islamic noodles. Both dishes were quite dry and lukewarm.
I used to like this restaurant a lot and I went these many time. That's why when I have a re-union with high school friends from oversea I brought them there for dinner. I was so disappointed. I couldn't believe the food was so bad that they could not even compare with the fast food. Selection is limited. Quality and taste of food are not good and cannot justify the price. I will no go back there.
While I was not sure Linda's Modern Thai would be good for brunch, I was pleasantly surprised with the options available. As well, options for mild to hot and omitting certain ingredients from a particular dish were welcomed. Non-alcoholic beverages available were delicious. Very attractive presentation of menu choices was appreciated.
