Lincoln is a balance between old and new, modern and classic, rustic and refined, casual and formal, everyday and special occasion. Lincoln offers an honest expression of Portland cuisine – direct and elemental yet sophisticated. The front of the house warmth is delivered by a team of seasoned local professionals who focus specifically on genuine and attentive service. The food is simple, not fussy. The food is direct in style, flavor and presentation. Seasonal fare on the changing menu concentrates on what is grown in the Pacific Northwest. Lincoln isn't closed, so I'm not sure why the entry indicates this. We went for a birthday and although we had intended to stay a while, service was slow and very off. Our table was clearly an afterthought. We ordered the Portland Dining Menu plus an appetizer and they forgot the appetizer, then seemed completely nonplussed when we mentioned it. Rather than come and apologize for forgetting it (and leaving us waiting 45 minutes between salad and dinner), the waiter kept sending the bus boy over and then breezed back as if nothing had gone wrong. With so many other amazing options in Portland, I won't be back anytime soon.

We were quite disappointed about the restaurant as it had been listed in the top category. We had to wait over an hour to get our food. The portions were small and the food wasn't outstanding as we'd expected. Paying high prices is O.K. if the food is exceptional but this was not. I hadn't realized they'll be closing their venue which would account for these issues I'm afraid.

We went because they're closing; haven't been before. The salads were decent. The pasta was amazing. Steak was suprisingly decent. Dessert was fab. Service was abysmal. The restaurant was chilly and loud. But the pasta....

We had a dining month menu as well as a few other things. The skirt steak and dessert (not the same dessert posted on the online menu) on the dining menu as well as the brussels sprouts were excellent. The salad that came with dining month was a little underwhelming.

Third time dining here and I'll be going back again. The service is outstanding. Attentive without intrusion. You are made to feel as if you are in the chefs home amongst friends who are super excited to cook for you. Delicious, creative, direct, honest food. Totally cravable pastas and fun small plates. Main dishes are creative and inspired without being pretentious. Simple yet innovative combinations. Great value, and I never leave feeling overstuffed or too full to enjoy the rest of my evening. With all the hype around the Portland food scene, Do not miss out on this gem!

Cuisine was interesting and well prepared. Unfortunate the kitchen got way behind and orders took 1 hour or more to be served. Another table was 1:45, our server was apologetic and you could see them waiting for meals to serve. For the us the experience was not worth the wait.

Lincoln never disappoints! It has probably been about 6 months since our last visit and the staff always remembers us. We are always met with a warm welcome and prompt seating. The food is amazing.. . . Interesting, well balanced and perfectly portioned. Our server was sweet and attentive and spaced out our plates perfectly. There are so many fun dishes we always order several small plates and an entree. We had the special, ricotta gnochetti w balsamic and fried brussel sprout leaves. Light, creamy, tangy with a salty crunch.....heaven in a bowl. They pay attention to detail and offer complex plates as well as very simple dishes to showcase certain pristine ingredients . My wife and I had our first official date here and return for our anniversary every year. We also really enjoy the Salt and Straw collaboration dinner... . .genius!! Do. Not. Visit. Here. Without. Trying. The Buttered Popcorn Pana cotta w caramel sauce! Lincoln, I will break up with you if you ever get rid of it! In a foodie town such as PDX finding a restaurant that is so good you put it in your rotation says a lot. So Thank You Lincoln and your wonderful staff for giving us a special evening out whenever we visit. I appreciate your consistency and talent! See you again soon!

After we were seated, someone poured water and did not even say hello. We waited about 8-10 minutes while the only waitress walked by us serving the the other tables. We were never even acknowledged. She never even looked at us. All we wanted was to order a cocktail..... Long story short, we walked out and went down the block to Tasty&Sons for dinner instead.

I thought the food was pretty mediocre for the price - nothing special. I had the vegetarian entree and it was bland, and the server was not able to respond to the questions we had about a couple dishes. For three people to eat unexceptional food - and only one glass of wine among us - it was $180 with tip. I probably wouldn't go back.

We went to Lincoln for Valentine's Day, which required a credit card and would incur a $65 cancellation fee. Our reservation was for 8pm, we were finally seated about 8:40. The owner was apologetic, but in a condescending way. The food was pretty good, but the Valentine's menu was limited and didn't feature any Italian food, which was why we had chosen Lincoln in the first place. I understand it was a holiday, but the waiting between courses, limited menu options (I really wanted some kind of greens but that wasn't available in any of the courses) and frankly the whole time we were there it felt as though we were a burden because I had the audacity to mention the very long wait time. The experience left me feeling like our money would have gone further and we would have been much happier somewhere else. I'm willing to assume it's better on a non-holiday night, but as this was my first and only experience here it left a lot to be desired.

While the food was excellent, with wonderful blend of textures and flavors, we don't plan to return. The atmosphere was haughty for Portland, and the staff seemed insincere. And apparently, you have to know the chef in order to get good seats. It was surprising, too, for Portland, how "straight" the restaurant is. We saw only one gay couple, and while they seemed fine, I was uncomfortable for them given some of the clientele. Glad we tried it, but we don't need to return.

We took advantage of one of their price fix special offers. That got us some truly excellent food at a very good price. The service was both efficient and warm; a rare combination. An elegant decor with its own distinctive style. Their cornmeal onion rings are among the small handful of contenders for best onion rings in Portland. And the chicken schnitzel was a delight; a simple dish but one done so very, very well. And under no circumstances should one miss their chocolate cake! Lincoln is always a pleasure. Their focus on the fundamentals of delicious, creative food and top flight service ensures that someone who dines there will leave smiling.

Very disappointing! Our reservation was at 7:30 PM but no tables were ready (understandable). Then, we had NO contact with restaurant staff until 8:15 when a table was located for us, and we were seated. Even then, we were patient and understanding. 10-15 minutes later we had still not seen a server, but 2 tables that arrived after us had ordered and been served drinks. When we mentioned that our reservation was an hour earlier, a server came and gave an insincere apology, mentioning "but we cobbled together a table for you" (the large party seated 50 minutes after our reservation time was enjoying champagne). Once a server came to our table, we were ready to order wine and all our dishes to share (and we didn't know when we would see a server again). Unfortunately, as if to make up for the neglect, multiple servers descended on us and served all 8 dishes, ALL at the same time (and our bottle of wine shortly afterward). We really didn't want our appetizers (onion rings, dates), wine and salad to be served simultaneously with our main courses. We gobbled to eat everything quickly while warm. The servers were obsequious and condescending throughout the rest of evening. I guess they thought we were the problem. I have never waited 45 minutes WITH a reservation, and ignored for the next 15 (ironically we chose this restaurant because we could make a reservation). Despite eating at Lincoln in the past, none of us will return. Oh, to make up for it all they gave us an order of flatbread "on the house," even though one of our purchased orders already came with flatbread. I guess we were supposed to be grateful for a second order of flatbread.

Flatbread was very oily. Brussels sprout over-seasoned and salty. $20 for 10oz chicken bucatini entree, preparation was ok. $28 salmon entree was more like an appetizer - 2pcs toast, 4oz salmon "lox", 2 potato balls, boiled egg & garnish. If exploring the PDX dining scene, other offerings are a better representation. We left oily and hungry.

Consistently awesome food. Our fourth time here in a year. With so many grand PDX restaurants to choose from, this place warrants a multi-visit. We always enjoy the menu which is chaned up so that after 4 visits, each time was unique. There are great non carb & veggie options. Nice vibe. Chef is bustling about, chats with guests & last time, treated us to a to go container of the awesome sauce that was in our skirt steak. Yes! Fun sig cocktails, too. Food is fresh & off the chart. Pasta is a speciality, so go ahead and treat yourself to it. Yum. Oh and have your server share their expertise in wine pairings for your dinner. They know their stuff.

We saw Hell's Kitchen TV show and the executive chef Jenn Louis was there as a guest judge. This is why we chose this restaurant for our date. Food was excellent. Nothing was just ordinary nor standard. Everything has a twist in a good way which we really appreciate. We have been to so many Michelin restaurants all over the world, and we are glad we have such a nice local restaurant here in Portland. Jenn was so humble, friendly and polite even though she was chosen as the "Food & Wine Best New Chef " in 2012.

Food was very good...but service was very slow to start. No greeting at the table, took 15 minutes before anyone even came to the table. Service continued to be very slow throughout the evening. Friends had recommended earlier, especially for the 3 course special at $30 for the month and even were able to use the Passport Unlimited Card. However, we were denied use of the Passport Card and rather rudely. Service overall seemed to be more focused on familiar and regular customers.

We've been to this restaurant a number of times since it opened, usually with no fanfare or issues. Tonight was special! They thought we had a reservation for 5, we had one for 4! We ended up with 3 and we were informed we were to be charged for 4 citing the New Year's Eve prix fix menu? Our reservation was a standard reservation, no qualifications. They did apologize realizing their error only after serious discussion. We received our wine and starters in a timely fashion. The waitress was very nice. Then the waiting started, wine disappeared and no food! They apologized and offered a half a glass of house wine only to have the offer rescinded, bizarre! Then they brought some brussel sprouts as if that would suffice? We continued to wait, ordered another bottle of expensive wine and finally after 1 1/2 hours we received the entrees! My chicken was done properly along with the ultra small portion of soggy french fries! I asked for more and fresh french fries only to be informed I would have to pay! After more strong discussion, I received more and fresh fries. Dessert was real crap to finish the evening! Huge disappointment to say the least! Plenty of other restaurants in Portland to go to so I suggest going to those!
