Lincoln Center is a special place and the Lincoln Center Kitchen is a great choice if you're going to see a show. (My Fair Lady in our case). Though the menu is a bit limited, there was a a nice selection on the menu. The deviled eggs with caviar were a tasty starter. The roasted chicken was nothing special. The service was attentive and the whole experience was very good. As the old saying goes, "location, location, location".
Located in the Geffin concert hall, the Kitchen is THE place to dine when attending a performance at Lincoln Center. In addition to its convenience, the food is really good, comprehensive menu to suit all tastes, and well prepared and presented. Service can bog down a bit when it gets close to show time, so don't get there at the last minute unless all you want is a drink.
We had brunch before the Opera and although the choices are quite limited everything was very good. I was especially impressed with the coffee which I thought was excellent.
location was convenient but we all thought food was overpriced and portions tiny for what you paid. Example...chopped veg salad was mainly all romaine lettuce with very few bits of other veg and the portion was really small for $15.
The food has improved since we last dined there. Things were a bit disorganized on service that night. Cost is good for people with Philharmonic subscriptions.
My friend and I ate at the Kitchen before a concert. This is the second time we have eaten at the restaurant. We did not order from the Priced Fixed menu. We both had different salads. The salads were very fresh, the lettuce was crisp, and the salad dressings tasty. I had the shaved salad and my friend the mixed salad. My friend had the scallops and she enjoyed them, saying they were outstanding. They were prepared perfectly and the sauce was savory and added to the dish. I had the swordfish which was excellent, cooked perfectly. The only negative was the waiter who may not have understood what we were saying. My friend said no butter but her scallops were in a butter sauce, the waiter never came back to tell her they could not leave out the butter. I do not think he checked with the kitchen about my peanut allergy. Only telling me what I ordered had no peanuts. However, the waiter was courteous, helpful when asked, and fast. The wait staff does not rush you out and we were able to sit and drink coffee slowly. I recommend this restaurant, the problems were minor and the food well prepared and tasty.
This restaurant is designed by and large for the convenience of people who will be attending a performance at one of the Lincoln Center venues. The menu is not extensive but there are enough choices to suit most folks, and the food is reasonably good, if a bit pricey. The service is friendly , but sometimes spotty. On more than one occasion we have had difficulty getting our check once we have finished our meal, making us worry that even though we were right there in David Geffin Hall, we might not make the curtain.
A great place to dine before going to a concert at Lincoln Center.
I enjoyed dining at American Kitchen (as always). I was especially appreciative of the very fine service. My waitress was Beatriz & she was most attentive, efficient, & kind. Consequently, I look forward to my next opportunity to dine there.
Convenient before the opera. Great service. Limited but adequate menu. Good value for the location.
Fine food; good for a quick dinner before a show at Lincoln Center but go as early as you can. Once the restaurant got busy, service was difficult
A nice surprise with a friendly staff. Arrived early and was seated immediately. Convenient location at the Lincoln Center. I recommend.
For the purpose: having a pleasant and excellently well prepared and well managed dinner for pre-performance across the plane to the ballet it cannot beat it. The food is excellent, though not a large menu which makes it work, I can’t imagine a better setup.
We went to this restaurant pre-concert with another couple.
The service was attentive until halfway through the meal. As the restaurant began to fill up with pre-concert guests the wait staff was somewhat hard put to keep up with the number of guests
and simply couldn't be as attentive as they wanted to be. They were visibly stressed.
The food was very good and the wine list, short but large enough to suit most palates.
All in all it serves its purpose very well.
Can't beat the convenience but really nothing to write home about
A friend and I always have dinner at the Kitchen (or in its many previous names) before a concert. It is a great combination -- fine food and great music.
What a gem! Lovely food, enchanting bar tender. I'm in love.
I would only recommend it for pre-performance dinner Modest prices with mediocre food, some verygood appetizers.
We have Season Tickets to the New York Philharmonic and The Kitchen is just a wonderful place to enjoy Great Food before a great Musical event. The Kitchen staff is wonderful and very accomodating. This is just several of many reasons for continuing to go back to The Kitchen!
You’re paying a lot for the convenience of eating at Lincoln center. The food is way way over priced. But it is nice not to rush to your seats after dinner.
Food is good but except for the pre fixe menu, way overpriced. I paid $39 for 4 scallops and a tiny bit of cauliflower. Wines by the glass are also way overpriced. I don’t think my glass contained two oz of Sauvignon and it was $13.
The staff was super friendly.
Food was not tasty at all. We just ordered and got it in2-3 minutes. I don't think we in the fast food restaurant. We ordered risotto and scallops. Food was reheated in microwave.
What a SIN that a WORLD CLASS concert hall would have such a dreadful restaurant!! It was a bad experience which I hope others will avoid; mediocre wine, at best;our server was extremely difficult to understand, and after ordering about 15 minutes later, here comes our first course AND main course ALL TOGETHER; prior to this, we were given what I thought was a comp dip, crackers; it was meant for another table as a starter; I had taken a taste before it was swept away, and I am ALMOST certain that was what went to the intended table!!!
We asked for our check and went without dinner before our concert; DREADFUL!
This was a great find especially if you are heading to any of the events at Lincoln Center. Its location is perfect, food was delicious and service is cognizant of the need to be finished, in order to attend a particular venue for a performance.
A bit rushed service food quality very good
Our experience was none of the above. We were there for the Philharmonic in that building
My wife and I regularly eat here whenever we are seeing a performance at Lincoln Center. Overall the Kitchen constitutes good value for a reliable top-class meal both for dining in conjunction with a Lincoln Center event and as a local neighborhood restaurant for an evening meal.
An additional plus factor is a menu with great variety and very moderate pricing without pretensions or fancy presentations like adding a dollop of caviar to decorate the plate and inflate the price.
Although a bit pricey, the food was well prepared and the service excellent. An easy way to dine before going to NY Philharmonic Concerts.
Great place to eat before a concert or event at Lincoln Center. Very nice and efficient wait staff
Very convenient location. But mediocre and overpriced food
Our server brought one person's appetizer 10 minutes before the other person's -- then, as soon as the appetizers had been cleared, he tried to immediately bring the main courses -- we sent him away -- poor service -- food was just fair -- ambience non-existent -- nothing special at all. Not worth eating here. So many other places nearby that are far better.
Food is decidedly lackluster. Had the strip steak. While it was cooked to the right temperature, the cut of meat itself was only so-so.
Food was excellent. Drink prices good. Our waiter not to terrific.Language problem and Ido not speak Hindi.
Food and service were a 10! Unfortunately "Kitchen" really means "cafeteria-like". The ambiance is seriously lacking but this is a very convenient spot to eat some really great food before a show.
handy and pleasant and relaxed for Lincoln Center events. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is simple but very good.
Food generally excellent. Soup of the day, a terrific New England seafood chowder was served warm not hot as it shd hv been. Also, roll given out rather stingy I thought. Sigh , the days of the generous (and gratis) bread basket are long gone.
Over priced with mediocre food and non-attentive service.
Enjoyable and convenient.
Delightful way to enjoy Lincoln Center (park underground, elevator to concourse, walk into Kitchen for outstanding experience, and elevator to Geffen Hall for NY Philharmonic performance). We've been to great restaurants in the neighborhood, but beating the curtain is comparatively stressful, or rainy, or icy. No wonder we loved the food and service...no stress.
Always enjoy LCK before the NY Phil and Ballet especially at table #7. Enjoy the food, service and friendly atmosphere. The ONLY item is that we are not fond of the rolls and this is the only item and it is small. See you soon!
