About Limones Restaurant
Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.

Limones Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was a phenomenal meal. We were celebrating a birthday and i couldn't be happier with the choice to try this restaurant. Our server was helpful and attentive without being overly so. We had mushroom soup as an starter and it was the best mushroom soup I have ever eaten. Our entrees were Beef Tenderloin with Brussel Sprouts and Lobster Mac n Cheese for my boyfriend and Lamb Shank with Polenta and Spinach for me. The lamb was fork tender and the polenta was creamy and well balanced flavors. The beef was perfectly medium rare and the brussel sprouts converted my boyfriend to like them (typically he hates them). We had a chocolate torte for dessert that was absolutely the best chocolate dessert I've ever eaten in my life. It was accented with espresso which made the chocolate so much more decadent. This was a great experience and we will definitely celebrate here in the future.
My family of 4 went for Brunch. We started with Lobster Nachos, my wife had the Lobster Scramble, my daughter had a pork burrito, son had chorizo egg tacos and I had chorizo enfrijoladas with two eggs. Nice wine list. Good drink menu and fresh squeezed juices.
Make reservations at least a day in advance. This place is a must visit when in Asheville. I'm jealous for those that live there and can just pop in.
We really enjoyed our time at Limones. We made a reservation for 5 pm on a Saturday and we were promptly seated. The ambiance was very romantic and quaint. We were traveling as a group of girls celebrating a friends 40th Birthday. We decided to do drinks and appetizers and they were nothing short of amazing! We had lobster nachos, tuna ceviche, brussel sprouts and scallops and we all enjoyed them! The main dishes were a bit pricey but I am sure they would have been delicious.
Never Disappoints! Consistently Exceptional.
I hope this restaurant never gives me a reason to warrant anything but the highest level of ratings. The service is always better than any other restaurant wait staff in the area. Please note, this is the ONLY restaurant in the Asheville area that receives this rating from me. We tried a couple of different selections from the menu, the tenderloin which proved to be tasty and well executed and the other entree was the seared sea scallops - more generous serving than other high end restaurants in the downtown area. I was pleasantly surprised but should not have been considering this restaurant never serves skimpy portions. The layer of flavors and depth of spices is a trademark and Limones sets a high bar. My side favorites are the margaritas! Won't order them anywhere else because its too much of a let down. And this time I decided to try a dessert - the Churros with hot chocolate was totally binge worthy! If you can get a reservation - just go.
The tables are so close together they should advertise it as "Table-sharing". The food was very good, the cerviche was excellent. I had the tilapia and my husband had the lamb. The service was prompt and friendly. We talked with the couples on both sides of us since we were sitting next to one another! Luckily they were friendly.
This is somewhat accurately described as Mexican cuisine. It is unique and creative Mexican. I would say Mexican with a gourmet flare. I had risotto. It was amazing. Tons of mushrooms and loaded with flavor. I also had lobster nachos that were out of this world. My other half had the raw fish appetizer, (can't seem to spell the word correctly that describes fish cooked in vinegar instead of heat) and it was tasty too. Then for the main course the chili stuffed with cheese and laid on a bed of spinach. Amazing as well. We split the most delectable churros I have ever had!!! The caramel dipping sauce was so delicious I could not resist running my finger around the little bowl when we were done. The churro tasted like butter. The crunch of cinnamon sugar was spectacular. One of the best meals I have ever eaten. I think it is now our favorite restaurant in Asheville and that is saying a LOT since there are many great places to eat here.
Very cute, small restaurant with a very cozy feel. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and had a great accent to properly pronounce all of the items! I was very impressed by both the sea bass and beef tenderloin entrees we ordered. We also ordered the three cheese chili rellenos which was a yummy starter. I would definitely recommend and go back myself!
Brought visiting holiday guests to Limones. It was my first time as well and I was definitely pleased with my selection. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, but we were offered a drink while we waited and the hostess was extremely apologetic. We only waited about ten minutes to be seated. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly when to approach the table; he was there when we needed him, but didn't "hover." The food was really good, especially the risotto - it was perfectly cooked with a bit of spice. I have to drive about 25 miles each way to come to this restaurant, but will make sure I visit more often in 2018!!
It was an exquisite experience from the handcrafted cocktails to the homemade cinnamon-cayenne dusted chocolate truffles that accompanied the check. The scallops were superb, however the menu changes often and the wait staff is friendly, engaging and exceptional in guiding diners through the nuances of offerings, plus wine pairings. We dine at Limones 2-4 time a year and have never been disappointed. This cozy little gem remains one of our favorite Asheville restaurants (which says a great deal, considering all the excellent options available).
We had a great experience for our 46th Anniversary. Good margaritas and Brussels sprouts and ceviche sampler for appetizers. We had duck entree (cooked perfectly), our friends who had never been there got scallops and loved them. We are definately fans. Just too difficult to plan ahead to get a good time to go. We like to be spontaneous.
Our bed and breakfast (Princess Anne) had this place as one of three recommended on their website. I suggest you take an Uber ride if you go at night.
I had the seafood stew which was expertly prepared.
I only wish they had bread service
I would definitely go again if I ever stay in Asheville.
Our server was attentive but I found the food to be mediocre at best. When I went to pay the bill I was told they don't take American Express. C'mon really? A restaurant of this caliber not accepting AM EX is ridiculous. I won't be back.
