About Limones Restaurant
Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.

Limones Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Great meal! One of the best we've had at Limones and they have all been good.
We just don't go here enough, partly because they are always busy and it can be difficult to get a reservation.
I had the mahi mahi, it was with those wonderful little grape tomatoes - yummy! My partner had the scallops - oh my gosh, they were truly amazing. Cooked perfectly with a really nice sear and so sweet and delicious.
It was a quiet evening because of the Super Bowl so we were lucky enough to score the table in the front window - cozy and romantic. We started with one of the amazing margaritas and the ceviche sampler - delicious. We then split an entree - the duck - and enjoyed a glass of wine from Limones well rounded wine list. What a flavor experience. Having left room for dessert, we decided upon the tres leche cake. Perfectly moist and yummy. The service was attentive without being overly solicitous. The entire evening was a delight. Limones is one of our favorite Asheville restaurants so we felt lucky to get a reservation at a late notice.
We dined early as we were going to the theatre. Seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu as this was a first visit for us. The mushroom soup was very good and the taco appetizer also. Excellent seasoning in both. The scallops with grits and mushroom and bacon topping was a real taste treat. My companion had a beef filet which was cooked to perfection. Wine and coffee were both very good. No room for dessert, but we will definitely be back.
We've been going for each anniversary and just celebrated our tenth! Limones is always great - the service, cocktails and food are reliably delicious and creative. Looking forward to our 11th anniversary there too (though likely we'll be back before that)...
This is my new favorite restaurant in Asheville. We got entrees (Seared scallops with sweet potato hash) and it was absolutely delightful, but next time I think we’ll do several appetizers. We got Brussels sprouts, and it was a huge bowl, and we didn’t leave a single bite, because they were so good.
The menu changes, so it will never get boring. Although I will be so disappointed if they don’t have the Brussels sprouts.
And I think they always have the churros. Save room for them!
Our party of Four enjoyed a variety of apps, mushroom soup, stuffed poblano pepper, and of course, lobster nachos- which was large enough to enjoyed an an entree. My husband was very happy with his sea bass, commenting that Limones is consistently good. My friends lamb shank was huge, and really delicious- according to her. Her husband was impressed with the scallop dish. I opted for the beef filet which was good- but not the best. A bit chewy for me.
Service was impeccable. Limones is still amongst my top 4 restaurants in Asheville.
Always a great meal at Limones. Friendly and prompt service, unusual presentations and wonderful flavors.
Raddichio salad with apples, pine nuts, Calabras cheese with a warm fig balsamic dressing was delicious. So was the Epazote-corn risotto with roasted mushrooms and arugula. Both unique presentations and very flavorful.
Our favorite restaurant in Asheville; always great for special occasions. We were seated at the front by the windows and it was a little cold despite a heat source close by, but it was a cold night.
Best margaritas anywhere! and the ceviche sampler is always terrific.
A local favorite. Small with limited seating--reservations recommended. Creative menu with unusual choices. Attentive, helpful, staff. The lobster nachos are always good. The pork chop was good. Menu selections, while extensive, were less attractive than usual tonight for some reason. Overall, our party of 4 enjoyed the evening, the meal, the wine and drinks. Will return.
Limones has upgraded its decor and management, and the food is as great as ever. We enjoyed our favorite blood orange margaritas, a warm winter salad of radicchio, celery and blue cheese, then feasted on scallops and shrimp meatballs. A chocolate tres leches cake with a candle for our birthday girl, and Limones famous bread pudding deliciously ended a wonderful meal.
I went there with a date. The restaurant itself was very nice, and the service was very good. I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse and my date ordered the sea bass. The food was absolutely amazing.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was that they only had bottled beer, although at least there was a selection from the local craft breweries. It's a bit pricey.
I will certainly eat there again.
Visited on a Sunday night, in late Jan. We were seated promptly and the server arrived with menus and descriptions of the seasonal menu. We ordered drinks which arrived quickly, and we tried the Cervichie Sampler. All three samples of the citrus cured fish were excellent. I recommend the Blood Orange Margarita. There were many great sounding entrees. I ordered Scallops, two of our group had Filet and one Pork Chop. We all agreed our food was great. The only issue— one filet was ordered medium well. It arrived medium rare. We sent it back but it still came back too rare. BUT the manager personally came to check on us and didn’t charge for the filet. I really enjoy this place and love to bring out of town guests to experience it. Even our friend who had trouble with his steak was well pleased overall with our evening at Limones.
