About Limones Restaurant
Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.

Limones Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Limones and it was just as great as the first. We took friends with us who had never been. One person ordered the pork tenderloin dish with sweet potatoes and she told us it was the best meal she has ever had at any restaurant. We go out with them a lot and eat at great restaurants all over NC so this is a huge compliment to the chef!!
We have been to Asheville three times in about six years, and we've eaten at Limones every time. It's the most creative Mexican/Spanish cuisine we've ever had. Everything is fresh, the flavors are mixed perfectly, and the portions are just right. Service is always attentive and prompt, but letting you dictate the timing, which we like. Wine list is ample and fairly priced.
I would HIGHLY recommend this dining experience to anyone visiting Asheville.
One of Asheville's hidden gems. Remarkably innovative and flavorful cuisine, with a frequently changing menu of thoughtful seasonal dishes, sprinkled with some consistent comfort-food favorites like their glorious lobster nachos and clever ceviches. Great cocktails with a focus on tequila and mezcal. Sunday Brunch is awesome too. Small restaurant, can get a little tight at times, but that gives it a coziness. Great spot for a special occasion or a fun night out.
Ok, everyone talks about the Lobster Nachos and they are great, but everything else on the menu is outstanding as well. I really enjoyed the Mexican Hot Chocolate and would recommend a pot for your enjoyment. We did several small plates and that worked well for us. Limon and Rhubarb were our favorites in Asheville.
Dinner was excellent. So many unique and wonderful flavors combined to a perfect, delicious balance. The handcrafted cocktails were a highlight as well. The interior of the restaurant is interesting, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing. We found the noise level to be very high, it was difficult to have a conversation when the restaurant was full. I would definitely recommend Limones, and plan to eat there again in the future!
Absolutely loved this restaurant. Have been meaning to try it out and finally got there. The seafood stew is absolutely divine. The only downside was that I was so delightfully filled up that I had no room for a dessert. Obviously I'll just have to go back!
I live in Durham and have eaten here, many times. I make the reservation early and am never let down by either the quality of the menu or the service. This is a very special place and worth making the reservation, months in advance. I took my partner here for his birthday and he was blown away. The steak and flourless torte were incredible as well as the cocoanut margarita. It is a cozy and very special place and ALWAYS #1 on my list when I am in Ashville.
Not enough adjectives in my vocabulary to describe the outstanding food and service that we experience every time we dine here. The consistency of excellence is their trademark while variations of their key dishes change enough to keep us coming for more without being dry or too familiar. We’re solid fans.
Wow, what INCREDIBLE food! Everything we ordered was carefully prepared and thoughtfully seasoned. They had an extensive Tequila list for connoisseurs. We ordered the duck empanadas and lobster nachos to start, both delish! My husband got the pork tenderloin and I got the scallops, both were amazing. I have to say, I order scallops a lot, these are the best cooked ones I have ever had. The accompaniment of mushrooms crispy rice and bacon, out of this world. My only complaint is that this restaurant isn’t in our hometown! Well done! We will most definitely be back!
Exceptional. We had 2 appetizers, ceviche and duck empanadas...both amazing. My husband had the pork tenderloin as his entree and I had the shrimp flambé. Everything was so very good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. Margarita caliente was on point as well. This is our new favorite dining spot in the area.
I love this restaurant! This is my third time here in the past five years and the food is sensational! The menu changes (weekly, seasonally?, I'm not sure) but every time I have eaten here every dish has been exemplary. They always have a variety of ceviches and they always offer an opportunity to try all three! We start out with the ceviche sampler, and I will have a margarita, while my husband has a draft beer. This time I had the seared sea scallops, and hubby had the pork tenderloin. The sea scallops had to be one of the most delicious meals I have ever had. My husband loved his pork dish as well. I've never tried dessert here because I never have any room. If you are traveling anywhere near Asheville go to this restaurant! You'll be glad you did!!
