My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Limones. Our waiter, Julian, made fantastic recommendations and was so helpful. We enjoyed Lobster nachos, beef tenderloin and scallops and were so disappointed to not be able to finish our food because we were so full!! This place is a must if you’re visiting Asheville!
Great menu, great cocktails, great service. Try the lobster nachos.
The margaritas are the best part of dining here! Always delicious. The Mac n cheese was great. The pasta with mushrooms lacked flavor. The rib eye was good, but very fatty. Overall, we will be back!
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Asheville.
Best ever experience at Limones. Got our usual charming window table. Ceviche sampler, always good, was excellent. So we’re the scallops served over mushrooms and a cauliflower veloute. Diane had the Bucatini (super thick spaghetti like pasta) over mushrooms and loved it. Great service. This is why we never miss a night at Limones when in AVL.
The scallops were outstanding. Good wine selection. Excellent service.
We had high hopes for Limones based on reviews. And the ceviche sampler did not disappoint. It was full of flavor and some of the best ceviche that we have had. So we were excited for our entrees but were let down. The pork chop entree, while perfectly cooked, completely lacked flavor and at $35 I expect flavor and presentation. It basically was just piled on top of cabbage and potatoes. And the romesco sauce did not work. It would have been much better without it. My husband had the pasta and it was mediocre. We are very disappointed to leave a meal and think that we could have made the same thing at home and it likely would have tasted better. We will not return. But if you are not a home cook and are looking for a decent meal out you will likely enjoy Limones.
Made room for our party of 3 in an alcove since hubby hard of hearing. Made meal all more enjoyable. Cevive sampler for starters with ginger mint margarita, followed by the scallops and shared tre leche cake. All wonderful.
Never disappoints.... an excellent restaurant!!! The service is fabulous and your table is always ready when you arrive. Don’t miss this Asheville gem!
Everything from start to finish was outstanding. A very large variety of tequila to choose from. The lobster nachos were fantastic! Service was exemplary. If we are ever in Ashville, will definitely return.
We always love our meal here.
I had not been to Limones in years and am so happy to say that the standard of food is still superb and ambiance wonderful. What a great place, with such a varied and well constructed menu. For me Limones is a special occasion situation as the price point is steep for my budget, but I think worth every penny.
A different Mexican restaurant, but very good.
Only glitch was arrived early for reservation so they sent us next door to sister restaurant for a drink while waiting. When table ready we had just got drinks and were told we couldn’t take them next door to restaurant where our table was for dinner.
The best margaritas! Everyone in our group of 4 enjoyed our food. For appetizers, the sausage with mac and cheese and mussels were delicious. For entrees, we enjoyed the scallops, pork chop, and seafood stew. Portions and presentation of dishes were perfect. Their flan is irresistible!
Pork chop was dry and tough my pasta dish was good but not excellent. Service was excellent. The restaurant manager did not charge us for the pork dish.
This review is on our 2nd visit to Limones. We could not remember the first visit and after this second visit, we now see why. Limones lacks ambience and although offers very good food, it lacks in terms of foodie expectations. We tried the ceviche sampler with high-quality seafood and creative preparation. The mussels next on our dinner were a bit disappointing - we would have preferred a more robust sauce. The wine list is inviting, but a bit sparse save for the full bottle section. Cocktails were in the modern exotic style now so popular. 4+ stars, but not a 5.
I wish they would bring back the mexican vibe. Serving pasta and burgers now... i'm confused
Service was excellent and the food delicious.
Great food and wonderful margaritas! My favorite place in Asheville for dinner.
Salmon and brussel sprouts were delicious. Presented the "birthday girl" at our table with a complementary dessert based on a question on the Open Table app. It was a nice surprise and delicious!
Went to Limones for dinner on a Saturday night. I looked up the menu ahead of time and was excited to try it out! However, I left only somewhat satisfied after our meal. I will say all of the apps we ordered (the seafood ceviche and the pheasant sausage mac and cheese) were DELICIOUS. But, I felt the entrees were overpriced and lacked flavor. We ended up ordering the buccatini pasta (I'm pregnant and also don't eat red meat, so had limited choices). The pasta itself was okay - the sauce was delicious but only used sparingly in the dish. Overall, our experience was okay. Dont think this place lived up to the hype.
As always, the food was amazing!! Brittany was an excellent server.
This is one of the top ten restaurants in Asheville, which has an abundance of very good restaurants. Definately a place for foodies who enjoy unique preparations in a casual atmosphere.
This was our first time dining at Limones and we loved it! We had margaritas to start which were a little sour for us, but were quickly fixed to our liking. The ceviche was fabulous, best we have ever had. The seafood dishes we had were unique and delicious! The service was outstanding! We will definitely be back!
Wonderful server who made fantastic recommendations. Would definitely dine there again.
Open Table lists Limones as "Mexican" presumably because they have a chef from Mexico, however, there were no Mexican dinner options on the menu other than Ceviche (three types) if you consider that Mexican as opposed to Caribbean.
The only thing on the menu that my wife sounded OK was the Ribeye which turned out to be a low grade
(not sure if it was even Choice) and tough. I ended up settling for the Mussels appetizer.
There are much better choices for Mexican in Asheville such as Salsa's (which we regret not going to) so if you are in the mood for Mexican, Limones is not the place to go.
Open Table Note: You should not classify Limones as Mexican and find another designation----such as American or Californian (which you do indicate).
We appreciate your feedback & are disappointed that you were not pleased with your experience. Our menu is a collaboration of seasonings & flavors for a different take on traditional Mexican cuisine. We want to keep our menu exciting & fresh so we change it on a regular basis in hopes of appealing to a wide variety of guests. We will certainly consider your critique for future menu options & are grateful for your honesty. We hope you will stop in again in the future. Take care, Limones
Always excellent food and great service, never disappointed. This is our favorite Asheville restaurant.
Kudo's to the chef team. great flavors across the board. we would definitely go back
Great food dnd great service. The menu varies but the quality doesn’t! Thanks
Birthday dinner. Server was fantastic and so was the food
Very unhappy with the service. Not asked for cocktail or wine before dinner after first drink. Dirty plates left on table too long.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are terribly sorry that it was not a pleasant one for you and it is certainly not acceptable. We appreciate our guests and strive to relay that through not only our menu, but our excellent customer service to create an amazing dining experience. Constructive criticism goes a long way and we will utilize it as a tool to only improve our service. Thank you again and we will make it a priority not to allow this to happen in the future.
Menu now very different than what I remembered circa 5 years ago . Food excellent quality but miss the prior greater Latin Fusion interest. And please Hamburger on a dinner menu not a good choice. Will go back but will review menu prior.
Two of 3 entrees were excellent. Steak thin.
Had a reservation at 5:30 on Friday but got stuck in a lot of traffic on the way in from SC. We thought we would have to cancel our reservation but I called and they were able to accommodate us and move our reservation to 6:00. I’m so thankful they did because it was the best meal we’ve had. Yes, it’s pricey but so worth it. I ordered the seared scallops and my husband ordered the rib eye. We both had margaritas, also excellent. Highly recommend Limones! Delicious food, great customer service. All around great experience!
Wonderful, as always !!!!!
Wonderful little spot on a side street - was given this recommendation by someone who lived in Asheville as an alternative to Curate - no question, this was fantastic, and I will be back!
I had an exceptional waitress, Alixandra. She was very attentive, and when i said the lobster nachos lacked something from the first time i came, she immediately got us another. The margaritas were great. This place also has a great hostes; she's a definite asset.
always, always better than the last time! we are locals..live downtown...and its a go-to for us!
Ceviche was delicious. Main course was not the best. The beef was dry and the sauce a bit too salty. Main course, thanks goodness, came with a side of bacon (get the salty theme) Mac & cheese.
Thank you so much for your feedback about your visit to Limones. We are so glad you enjoyed the ceviche, it is certainly a favorite! However, your opinion of the steak is concerning for us. We want our guests to enjoy every aspect of their experience and rectify any issue that is not to your liking for you and future guests. We do hope you will visit with us again, and allow Limones another opportunity to go above and beyond your expectations. Take Care, Limones
