There was only one server for the entire restaurant. Needless to say, he was slammed. Took 45 min to take our order and we finally got our dinner over 2 hours after our initial reservation time. We would have left, but all the restaurants at the Cheeca Lodge are in the same space, so we didn't k ow where to go. Management never came by to apologize and several tables were complaining.
Food was better than most places but very expensive. Also setting needs to be updated.
While staying at Cheeca Lodge we dined at Limoncello. Our server, Ben, was attentive and personable. My husband and I both ordered the shrimp scampi. It was delicious. The pasta was fresh and the shrimp were well-prepared.
I don't understand the reviews here at all. This place is horrible! We had pasta and pizza. The pasta was with out a doubt from a box and the pizza dough was for sure defrosted. The pizza sauce tasted like tomato concentrate. Ugh!
The food was very good with the exception of the calamari... I was very surprised when dining at this resort in the Florida keys to be served calamari rings, no squid, just what appeared to be frozen rings you buy at the store.... the snapper was excellent, very nice job with the pizza for the kids, thoroughly enjoyed the burrata. The Hummingbird was a very well crafted dessert.
Amazing food with an outstanding view. Couldn't ask for better service.
Not the best Italian restaurant I've ever tried but the atmosphere outside is wonderful.
Great location, great view, understaffed badly! However the pizza I had was very good
After sitting for an hour with bread only and watching our neighboring table arrive eat amd leave they informed us the kitchen was backed up and it would be 5 minutes till we were served. 10 minutes later still no food so we walked out and left money for drinks. NEVER AGAIN
The service was excellent, the seating outdoors was very comfortable and the food was cooked to perfection. It was a most enjoyable evening for both of us.
The food was good, the price was reasonable, nice experience overall.
We had a wonderful time there, the food was delicious, the dining was relaxing and of course the lighting was perfect. We like a restaurant that is light enough to see what we are eating. The view at evening also made for a pleasing eating experience.
Standouts are the tuna tartare, the mushroom risotto and the lasagna. Salads are quite large and varied. The menu offers classic Italian, meat and fish dishes and are reasonably priced. The restaurant provides intimate table seating but also can accommodate larger groups, with spacious booths and round tables! The service is impeccable, and it appears the management is making every effort to satisfy. What more can you ask for.
The veal cutlet was amazing and the Gnocchi hit the spot. Fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes was to die for
The waiter service was good is about all I can say positive about this place. Waited 5 minutes for a hostess - no one at the station, with very few customers. Ordered a seafood medley that consisted of 3 shrimp, 5 mussels and some fish on 2 lbs of pasta. $30. Also had fish of the day which was overcooked snapper. $37. All in all very poor value.
The food presentation was great but it went down hill the mussels and spaghetti and meat balls sauce was like something you would feed the kids out of a can, totall void any fresh spice . The red snapper wasn't cleaned properly. The dark fat/bloodline was left on resulting in the fish tasting strong. We have a gift certificate and won't be in a hurry to use it.
Poor food and service . We were ignored by the staff. Our food was delivered to table and never did a server return to check on us
While we really enjoyed our meal, the dinner menu that was posted on Open Table had been discontinued months prior to our visit.
I went to dinner here with the 1 yr old I nanny. Service was great, the view is gorgeous and they were so kid friendly. Would definitely go back when we return to islamorada!
Nice place, great service, good food, beautiful atmosphere.
This was the second time we have eaten at Limoncello. The last time we ate there was 4 years ago. On our return to Cheeca this past weekend, we made reservations for Limoncello our first night at the resort. The restaurant was almost vacant at 7:30pm, two other tables full. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs, pasta with Bolognese and the seafood fettuccine; easy italian meals. While waiting for our meal we enjoyed the bruschetta, a Caesar and some bread. The meal came out surprisingly quick after ordering and eating appetizers. My husband's seafood fettuccine did not have any sauce that would incorporate the squid-ink-colored fettuccine, shrimp (2 of them) and not sure there was any other seafood in there!! He ate one bite and asked for another dish as it just wasn't palatable. The waitress was very apologetic and took it back. Meanwhile, my daughter (17) and I are oddly trying to eat cold pasta. She asked me to taste her dish to see if it was "right"...mind you the meatballs were huge and it all looked nice, however, her dish, as well as mine, were cold and the pasta taste rubbery and pasty. We both tried to make the best of three or four mouthfuls, but pushed our plates away and proceeded to eat another roll. Meanwhile, my husband's newly dressed up dish with sauce came out, with more apologies, and a little explanation about the change in chef and other changes. Next, the manager came to the table asking how things were going, and my husband kindly said, "the bread and salad is the best thing you got going here." He was very receptive to the feedback and seemed to appreciate it. With that, I really hope the feedback will help the quality control here, it used to be good, now its just an expensive trap. I'll add that we are not picky eaters, just like fresh food...and yes, hot pasta!
Good luck Limoncello
We stayed at the Cheeca Lodge and wanted to try the 2 restaurants onsite. The service was fine but thought the entrees were small and overpriced. We had the lobster penne and spaghetti bolonese. We would probably not recommend or return.
The service was very poor; continual long wait from start to finish). My lobster fettuccini was inedible; chewy, over cooked, and unappealing, oily sauce. My husband's Bolonaise was exceptional and I ate half his dish because server was no where to be found to complain about my food. By the time she finally returned everyone was done eating.
Tried this restaurant given we were in Islamorada for vacation and this was the only 4 Star hotel. Don't let the stars fool you, Islamorada, as in the real world, this hotel would be a 3- star at best and the restaurants would be no better than the worst you have ever frequented. Service was slow to almost non existent. The waiter (female) was friendly, but clueless as to how patrons in a "upscale" restaurant should be served. The bartender was God-awful at mixing drinks and after trying to make a Makers Mark old fashion 3 times, I had to go over and see who was making these drinks. The kid looked to be 16 years old and I was advised he just started. The food was even worse. Don't bother wasting your money or time here.
So sad . This place needs a chef. Makeover needed with real home made food the caliber that Cheeca Lodge used to be.
The food quality was excellent, the quanity more than enough. Not often that you have the option of being served "family style" in such an elegant environment
Food came in an odd order, and the pizza, after talking to two managers came for one person long after desert for everyone else had come and gone, about 1 and a half hours later. The Surf and Turf at $100 a plate was inedible, the lobster had been cooked to far beyond done. Although a manager agreed and said it wasn’t fit to eat, nobody even bothered removing the plate. The over all feel was that of a diner not fine dining. We did get the price of the meal cut in half, but it really didn’t help much. I saw two other people refusing to pay, for either waiting so long, or the food being so bad.
The food was mediocre at best any ways. It is a nice looking resort, but the restaurant was sorely lacking.
Dinner at Limoncello was wonderful. The service was outstanding Great location for a dinner on the Ocean
It was a special anniversary. My seafood pasta was ok. My husband's chicken parm was awful. Bottled red sauce. It is in an expensive hotel But it was convenient to the restaurant Would not eat there or stay there. Way over prived and over rated
Having spent the day at the beach, we didn't feel like "going out" for dinner and Italian sounded like a great choice. I had the clam linguini and my husband had the shrimp scampi. My linguine was a little too al dente for my taste, but my husband's was perfection. The service was prompt and our waitress was very attentive, however there were only two other parties in the restaurant at the time so it may be a different experience on a busy night. We shared the gelato sundae for dessert and the house made tiramisu gelato was fantastic! All in all the food was delicious, and I would recommend dining there at least once during your stay.
This restaurant is part of Cheeca Lodge resort. Like most resort restaurants it was overpriced. It cost over $100 for my husband and myself. We each had a glass of wine, soup and the Chicken Parm entree. Food was good but not exceptional. Service was very good and ambiance was nice.
Jackie our server was awesome
This was our first time at this restaurant. The location at Cheeca Lodge was amazing. Our waitress, Sheri was wonderful! She really took care of us and especially all the accommodations she made for our children!
Definitely a great place to eat. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was outstanding for both my wife and myself. Extremely satisfied and would definitely come again.
Had high expectations based on hype from the Resorts website, but food was very average. Ordered a "special" and it was anything but.............Server was friendly and attentive, but food quality was lacking. Could have gotten similar fare at Olive Garden..........
Great dish with a fantastic demi-glace . The portion can be shared so you can enjoy other dishes that are fantastic. Our server was fantastic and I believe it was Katey. We also dined in the Sushi Restaurant and the food was fantastic. Gabriella did a great job. This gem in Islamorada and worth the hunt. It is nice that you can dine at the Cheeca Lodge and Spa with out being an overnight guest. If you can swing the resort overnight the staff is all great. everyone from the front gate to the service staff is well trained and accommodating with great hospitality.
Our special occasion was the 50th anniversary of our first date. We were asked in advance in there was a special occasion;. The setting in palm trees on the beach was romantic. We were seated away from the lightly noisy pool ( the children left at 7PM).
Our evening started with somewhat pricey but large and perfectly made Martinis by Tim, the bartender. The waiter, Brian, was attentive and knowledgeable. We were served leisurely, as we requested. The food was excellent. When we declined desserts, Brian informed us that it was his treat. Our serving plate was decorated with a chocolate good wishes on our anniversary. The total bill was less than expected an only 10-15% more than the local fish restaurants.
Great spot. Wonderful Antipasto. terrific service
Intimate dining at a first class resort. Going back with the kids in the summer!
We enjoyed a wonderful Valentines dinner. The server gave each lady a rose for the holiday. The food was excellent, if small portions. Great wine.
