Limon Rotisserie on Van Ness in San Francisco serves authentic Peruvian fare in a colorful, inviting setting. With a talented executive chef, Martin Castillo, it sets itself apart from the competition. As a family-operated establishment, it offers a welcome atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy their meals. Latin music is played throughout the dining area to add to the festive mood.
Limon Rotisserie's innovative menu features numerous lunch and dinner options, as well as prix fixe selections to take the hassle out of event planning. Enjoy top hits like the seco de Costillas with braised beef short ribs, potatoes, carrots, English peas and rice. Also popular are items like empanadas, which can be made with steak, chicken, veggies or cheese, and delectable desserts, such as the chocolate bandido.
The food was great and the staff was accommodating upon a late arrival. Will be back for sure.
Good vibe. Great service. Atmosphere is welcoming and charming contemporary. Loved it.
The rotisserie chicken is fantastic! Sangria ain’t bad either!
Great food. Busy on weekends so reservations are a must. Cocktails were delicious and packed a punch. Really gave me a sense of Peruvian cuisine will be back for another round.
Octopus entree was tasty but so small. At least add some rice &/or salad on the side. Hubby felt ripped off. Also, charging $2 for hot sauce felt like we were being nickeled & dimed. Last, service was somewhat slow - mainly when we were waiting & waiting for the $2 hot sauce. Just put a jar of hot sauce on the tables, guys!
Limón never disappoints! The food is consistent, something really important whenever you go to a restaurant but even more whenever you go to a restaurant where most of the produce aren’t from the area. Their pollo a la brasa is so juicy and well seasoned that you could eat without any sauces or side dishes. The tacu tacu, so flavorful, and yuca fries, so crunchy and different, are great compliments to the pollo a la brasa as well as the ají sauce. Beware that it might take longer to get service or your food if you plan to go during peak hours, it gets really busy! Sad that they’re not longer offering chicha morada.
Brought my 90+ mom to meet my son for dinner, staff was gracious & accommodating to our needs. Thx!
Incredible food! Everything on the menu makes your mouth water and is as good as it sounds.
High energy ambiance, usually busy and people enjoying a great meal with friends.
Limon remains one of the best restaurants in the city. We have been going to the Vanness location for years. The prices went up. The food is still very good; the service is pretty consistent.
My parents arrived to the plane 5 mins before the reservation, the place was empty but the hostess refused to sit them at the reserved table we had, so they waited for me at the bar while having a drink (very tasty pisco sour). When I arrived the hostess refused again, in a very rude way, that we closed the bar tab while sitting at the table, which was 5 ft away from the bar. Ridiculous. After that our writer was super polite and food was amazing, but my mom had someone take away her plate from her while she was still eating. The service needs to improve in this place because client service sucks, but the rest is in place to be a fantastic restaurant.
Favorite restaurant in SF. Reasonably priced, so much light, amazing service, and great food! Love you Limón!
Recommend the octopus!!!
Limon's food is always great but you just feel rushed the whole time you are there. Servers are competing for getting their tables in and out in no time. Not a pleasant experience.
Came with friends before flamenco performance
Enjoyed food and service
Everything was great!
We had an 8pm reservation and were not seated until 8:50. Didn’t get our food until 9:45.
Monthly anniversary lunch
Great food. Very loud music
Out of all of the restaurants we dined at in SF this was our favorite. The chicken and mac n cheese were amazing as were the empanadas! Still thinking about this meal and the price for what we had was also quite reasonable.
The good was so fresh and delicious. Loved the chicken and paella type arroz con mariscos. Fried Yucca delightful..so were the cocktails. Make a reservation!! Have fun here.
We loved the food and service. The only glitch we had was we made our reservations on Open Table and arrived much earlier than planned. We informed the waitress and she informed us that it was okay only to find out the next day that we were initially a non-show on the acct. They resolved the issue quickly, however, it was an inconvenience of time and a little of a let down after such a wonderful dining experience. I truly loved the flavors of our meals and will plan to return.
the food here is consistently good and there are plenty of healthy options. our waiter was great and let us linger at the table and talk after we finished eating
I love tapas and enjoy trying out different restaurants, so I was pretty excited to try Limon as I had heard alot of good things. PROS: The food did not disappoint, amazing to the tastebuds - recommend the Ceviche Mixto, Chicken, and Lomo Saltado; and there was a lively atmosphere - great for groups I would think. On that same note though - CONS: The noise level was so high that my fiancee and I had a hard time talking w/ each other - basically having to yell to hear one another; and the tables were positioned so close to each other that you couldn't avoid bumping against the diners on the adjoining tables when going in and out of your seat for whatever reason.
The food was delicious, portions and price were extremely reasonable for SF. We walked away happy and full (I'd recommend both the ceviche trio, and rotisserie chicken!). The one caveat is that I would recommend getting a reservation before 10pm though; by 10:45 we felt a little bit rushed, as they were trying to close while we were still there - seems better to just not allow 10:00 reservations if you're trying to close before 11.
It was so amazingly tasty and they seated us right away
There’s hair in Paella. Just wished they paid more attention on food safety. The server was nice enough to take that off the bill. The crispy chicken is over cooked. I wanted to give this place a five star though.
Wonderful food and amazing service. I will definitely be back!
We were seated downstairs in what looked like a basement where there were no windows, and it was very loud. The Ceviche which is a signature Perivian dish was made with cheap Tilapia and had no flavor. The Pollo a la Brassa, another signature dish, was extremely salty and the French fries it came with were the frozen kind from Costco.
The only positive feedback I can give was the friendly service.
Overall it was a bad dining experience, and I would not recommend eating here.
I had the braised ribs my honey got the arroz con mariscos (paella) he wasnt crazy about it told the waiter which was hesitant at first. I asked if we could switch for the lomo saltado which they ended up doing for us, so I really appreciated that. Was a real cold night and we sat by the door no where to put my purse small tables/seats and pretty tight spaces but overall good time. Not a great place for an intimate conversation noise level is really high but food was delicious!
They really know what they're doing! Delicious ceviche. Fantastic rotisserie chicken; the fish, chicken, and sides we tried were all very fresh, used great ingredients, and super well prepared. The service was top-notch too- they were always on top of water, clearing our dishes, etc. It had a warm, friendly family feeling too.
Great ceviche and nice atmosphere! I'll definitely come back for more!
Everything was great. Kind of on the loud side with the ambient music. Without having to complain, our waiter comp’s is with some sides and a drink because there was a bit of a miscommunication over who our server was. Nice that management recognizes and takes initiative to correct even little oversights.
Food was great, service was great - very noisy
Mixed up food, super noisy, poor service, table in basement not nice
food very good
Intimate corner restaurant with limited but interesting menu selections. Very clean, attentive service, lively atmosphere. A good place for friends to meet up to catch up!
Basement table in more noisy area wish could seat on the street level and food a bit cold. Probably because they had too many customers, overall positive but could be better
Family visited. Staff would not allow my aging mother to sit in empty chair while waiting for me. Staff then elected to seat her at a table downstairs instead of the available tables upstairs.
Fabulous food and even better service. We let our waitress order for us and we were not disappointed. Great value to boot. Just go here if you haven't been before.
The food was good and the staff was attentive, though very busy. But it was extremely noisy, not relaxing at all, conversation difficult, and not really that good for our special occasion date.
Server was super nice. I love their food and drinks! There weren’t ready for table when we got there. That’s ok but I appreciate if they smiled at me instead of just telling me to wait.
