Limon Rotisserie – Van Ness Ratings and Reviews
Returned to Limon for a business lunch and the food was amazing. This place never disappoints.
Friendly staff and great for sharing.
The rotisserie chicken is their signature dish and it's the best. The ceviche was fresh and perfectly prepared.
The ribeye steak was exceptional and you must try their Pisco Sours.
We added the mac and cheese and yucca fries to complete the meal.
We'll be back!
I am a neighborhood patron of Limon, South Van Ness and was really disappointed the last time we went for a visit with our family visiting from another country
The portions were way off. My son ordered a 1/4 chicken, dark meat and got two times more the sides than the rest of the family did with a whole chicken.
When we questioned our server why mathematically a 1/4 chicken got larger sides than a full, his comment was: "that is just the way it is"
I did write the GM a memo reflecting my view point, but never heard back.
I know Limon is popular, but not supporting or respecting the neighborhood, is never a good decision.
Delicious chicken. Ricardo, our waiter, was super friendly. Only bad thing was had to ask and pay $2 for sauce. You would think sauce came with a whole chicken but we had to buy 3 sauces for the 3 of us. Seemed a bit cheap on charging for sauce. You need sauce or chicken dry. Weird.
Given the rave (and plentiful) reviews all over the internet, I had a pretty high bar set for Limon. Unfortunately, it fell a bit short. The food was good, but not noteworthy. We had ceviche, empanadas, plus lots of chicken and sides. We also tried several of their cocktails.
Service was the absolute downfall of this place. No one cleared our used plates during the entire meal, which resulted in a leaning tower of them at the corner of our table. No one also offered water or then replenished our glasses, once we finally got it after asking (and we had to ask twice).
Overall.. a bit of a letdown. The food was tasty but none of it blew me away. For the price tag, I would probably not return.
We eat a Limon on a regular basis, however the noise level at night is almost unbearable. There were 3 of us and we were literally yelling to hear one another talk. I asked if they could turn the music down a little bit because it was so loud, but that didn't happen. While we love Limon, we will be sticking to lunch here in the future.
I came here with two of my friends. We made a reservation a day in advance and they gave us a nice, semi-private table by the window. The ambiance was good and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered the ceviche mix (the scallops were the best), quarter chicken dark meat (they do their chicken really really well), and lomo saltado (a classic; did not disappoint). They also have a good selection of wine, so over all good experience!
The chicken, aji amarillo sauce, and white rice blew my mind! Delcious! White truffle Mac & Cheese was good too. My tastebuds were so pleased I ordered a whole chicken to go with rice so my family could try it out. Small place, make a reservation. It’s loud in there. They managed to fit a bar on the left side. I noticed there’s downstairs seating, wasn’t able to take a look. Parking situation is all bad. Make use of the streets. We also tried the tacu tacu (rice mixed with refried beans) and polli papas hot app (fries topped with crispy chicken, the yellow sauce, mustard aioli, and Parmesan. Tasty! Ensalada side comes with aji huacatay sesame dressing. Yum. Neighborhood gem! Whole back page of the menu is dedicated to drinks.
The food was absolutely exceptional! The seafood ceviche was wonderful; my date had a chicken dish that was quite good. Service was really good--the waitstaff visited often even though the restaurant was very busy. My one major issue was the noise level--it was impossible to have a conversation even leaning in to each other. Seriously, hire an acoustic engineering company to do some room treatment for sound.
I have been going to limon on South Vanness for years, it was one of my favorite places to dine in sf. That is now the pass. After not being there for over 5 moths friends and I went Friday night only to be tremendously disappointed. First, the prices went up, not a huge surprise considering we are in sf, but the portions were also a lot smaller, food was just ok. I definitely noticed that the food quality decreased. But my greatest disappointment is the treatment that we received. After less than 35 minutes into our dinner my friends and I were literally rushed out the restaurant. Not even half way through our meal various waiters repeatedly asked if we were done with our food and if we would like to get it packed. We responded no multiple times and finally after being bombarded by yet another waiter who once again asked if we were done- as I was taking a bite of a yuca fry, we gave up and told him to take the food. He did not care that our plates were half full, I finally told him that we were being rushed and he had this to say: sorry but there's another party arriving in 25 minutes and we need the whole section, but you are welcome to hang out at the bar. We were stunned, immediately lost my appetite so we paid our bill and left.
Most of the employees were rude. Considering that the food is just ok- I'm boycotting Limon. If you don't mind rushed/rude service this is the place for you.
Every bite was delicious. The ceviche was the best I ever tasted - we ordered the trio so we had a chance to taste three different ones - each was wonderful. They are famous for the rotisserie chicken and they did not disappoint. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked.
I unfortunately had a negative experience this last time at Limon. I have gone to this restaurant multiple times with friends as it is a great restaurant, or was, to have drinks and dinner. I first want to say our waitress was AMAZING! Gave great recommendations and was very attentive.
However, it seemed the hosts might have overbooked, they checked in on us multiple times to see if we had finished and were rushing for us to leave. At one point upon ordering our second drink, they asked us if we were only drinking, if so we needed to move to the bar. At this point we hadn't even received our dessert menu. This might be the last time I go to this restaurant.
I went out with my boyfriend to dinner and we had a great experience! The hostess and manager they were both very sweet girls !! They had an amazing gluten free menu. I had the pizza with arugula ! It was delicious. I love seeing the open kitchen. For dessert I had their tiramisu. We can't wait to come back. I am bringing my family next week. Great great service!!
Great service and cocktails, but the food tends to be overdone and lacking in flavor. My order of the signature chicken dinner bordered on a mushy texture.
Prices are very reasonable. Finding nearby parking is very difficult, which adds on significant time and frustration to your visit and departure for your next destination. Guests should take a ride service to avoid the hassle.
This is the second time in less than a month I have dined at Limon. First time was in September I was treating a coworker for her birthday. Food was good. Drinks good. However, at the end of our meal, which was 30min. Before the kitchen was going to close, the hostess asked us to move to the bar even though there were 3 empty tables next to us. I called the general manager on the phone and got many excuses for the hostess and her choice, not impressed. This last dining experience started with bad customer service with the hostess again. This time she stated she could not find my name or reservation even though I had confirmed with her and changed my party with her from 3 to 2 only 45 minutes prior. I called her by name and pulled up her voicemail and my email confirmation. She still stated she couldn't find me. Luckily the it be his hostess chimed in and Sat us right away. I talked to the general manager John about both issues and he apologized profusely but made no gesture to course correct. I enjoy the food but customer service is super important to me as a manager in the fitness industry. I spent a lot of money on both occasions but have to assume Limon doesnt value my patronage since nothing improved from visit one 9/2017 to my second visit on 10/28. I got a lot of excuses and I am sorries but no measurable action on the part of the hostess or general manager. I won't be giving Limon a 3rd chance the good food isn't outstanding and doesn't overrule the poor customer service and response. Adios Limon que le vaya bien....
