Limon Rotisserie – Van Ness Ratings and Reviews
Great service and cocktails, but the food tends to be overdone and lacking in flavor. My order of the signature chicken dinner bordered on a mushy texture.
Prices are very reasonable. Finding nearby parking is very difficult, which adds on significant time and frustration to your visit and departure for your next destination. Guests should take a ride service to avoid the hassle.
This is the second time in less than a month I have dined at Limon. First time was in September I was treating a coworker for her birthday. Food was good. Drinks good. However, at the end of our meal, which was 30min. Before the kitchen was going to close, the hostess asked us to move to the bar even though there were 3 empty tables next to us. I called the general manager on the phone and got many excuses for the hostess and her choice, not impressed. This last dining experience started with bad customer service with the hostess again. This time she stated she could not find my name or reservation even though I had confirmed with her and changed my party with her from 3 to 2 only 45 minutes prior. I called her by name and pulled up her voicemail and my email confirmation. She still stated she couldn't find me. Luckily the it be his hostess chimed in and Sat us right away. I talked to the general manager John about both issues and he apologized profusely but made no gesture to course correct. I enjoy the food but customer service is super important to me as a manager in the fitness industry. I spent a lot of money on both occasions but have to assume Limon doesnt value my patronage since nothing improved from visit one 9/2017 to my second visit on 10/28. I got a lot of excuses and I am sorries but no measurable action on the part of the hostess or general manager. I won't be giving Limon a 3rd chance the good food isn't outstanding and doesn't overrule the poor customer service and response. Adios Limon que le vaya bien....
Efficient service. Very busy restaurant and every table was occupied. The ambiance in the upper and lower floors is similar in the sense that both are a bit loud at dinner time, but not so loud that you cannot talk to your table mates. They differ in that the lighting is better in the upper level vs. dim lighting in the lower level.
The food and cocktails, the main reason you are there are, are worth several repeat visits. My favorite dishes so far are: Pulpo a la parilla, lomo saltado, ceviche de pescado, ceviche de pulpo y camarones, as well as the empanadas. The only underwhelming dish so far was the ensalada rusa. You can’t go wrong with the classic Pisco Sour or the Maracuya Sour.
Everything we ordered was delicious!!!! I'm not a big beef eater, but I tried my friend's Carne a la Parrilla and it was amazing. When I return I will order that (which says a lot for me!). The Lomo Saltado was also good as was the rotisserie chicken. The drinks were very tasty as well. The ambiance is nice - not too loud and the servers were very friendly and helpful!
This is my favorite place I've eaten in the bay!! The food was authentic and delicious, the staff were friendly and enthusiastic to help us celebrate the birthday we were out dining for, and the other patrons were friendly and added to the atmosphere. Loved it!
I love Limon and have been coming here for years. Favorite dishes of mine include lomo saltado, polla a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), and the ceviche mixto. This was the first time I tried their brunch and I was not disappointed. I had the lomo montado and it was delicious! It was like a breakfast-y version of lomo saltado. Excellent and highly recommend! To finish, I shared the tres leches cake for dessert with my friend and my 2 daughters....we had to fight over it, it was so good! I'll always return to Limon.....
The food is fine but I felt rushed. Our food came within 5-10 mins of ordering and the portions are on the small side for the price point. They're very busy and they want to turn those tables around. The space itself is quite crowded. There are lots of people, waiters and bussers running around a small space. I guess I wasn't in the mood for a busy restaurant. Warning! As usual, the parking situation is ridic! I wish I took an Uber and saved myself the headache!
The service was great but the restaurant is quite small so the tables are almost stuck to one another, the food was too salty :(, we ordered the Lomo Saltado and the french fries were damped on the salty sauce from the meat so it wasn't delicious as expected. The drinks are really good! We were celebrating our anniversary but it is not a great place for that kind of celebration...
The food at Limon was delicious! The half chicken is a must, especially with green beans and yuca fries. Ceviche was good, but nothing special. Unfortunately the service put a big damper on the experience. The waitress came over to us so many times to try to take our plates away or serve us coffee and dessert that we felt like we were being rushed out. The food also came out almost instantly, which for us was not ideal because we were using the dinner as friends to catch up.
I've gone to this and their other locations many times. I would say the van ness location service needs improvement. Waiters are just as busy at other locations and they come and check on us this location when busy ignores and servers only Come when called.
Last week, we dined there and our experience was bad. This was totally different. The waiter was wonderful and attentive. Got everything right and was always there when we needed them without hovering over us. The manager went over the top in helping us out with a little problem at payment. I can't say enough good things about this place and staff.
Limon Rotisserie is always great for a quick full meal. The menu is large and accessible - ceviche, roasted chicken, empenadas, mac & cheese...I love the tuna tartare and beef entree. They have a full bar too. Crowded and loud, but this place is one of the best deals going - we go there a lot.
The food was awesome. But the service was terrible. On three occasions we had to get up from our table and go get a waiter. Our waitress that took our order never showed back up again. And to top it off, one of the dishes we ordered was not delivered until we went and asked for it. So one of person at our table had their order screwed up. They just don't have enough waiters/waitresses for the volume and it is sad since the food is great.
It was so loud I couldn't even hear myself think. The service was horrible. Instead of bringing my husbands food after all five of us had our food for 10mins he went to clear a dirty table while holding his plate of food. We had to continue to ask for service. They were told it was a birthday and said happy bday but never even brought a candle. Will not being going back
Delicious chicken. Tasty pisco sours. Quite popular; there was a bit of a wait on a Saturday evening, even with a reservation. The downstairs room is WAY too noisy to have a comfortable conversation across the table. They should seriously consider getting acoustic baffling.
Food was excellent and timely. We were seated in the basement which had a good feeling at first. Between the dining staff both talking and laughing (basically yelling at times) extremely loud and the high volume of the music, both of which were amplified even more by the acoustics of the room, left me and my guest unable to be heard at a normal volume and ultimately made us feel rushed to leave so we could enjoy our conversation. If the music was lower and the staff was a bit more considerate of their volume my experience would have been greatly improved.
Food was amazing. We each orders the half chicken and very happy with our selections. The restaurant is very loud the downstairs dining could use something to cancel all the noice. The staff was yelling to each other on their radios - that bit was odd and distracting.
The food was delicious. The service wasn't so great. The waiters would either hang out with each other by the bar or just go to specific tables more than twice. We were there for an hour, I would say 40 of those minutes were waiting to get the waiter's attention. When we did ask him for something he'd roll his eyes and clearly seemed bothered. I'm also not a fan that there's no spray or beer on tap. I guess it's just a way for the restaurant to charge for every single drink. Other than those two issues we enjoyed our time for the most part. Probably won't go to that location again. I'm hoping Valencia has better service.
When I couldn't decide between ceviche and rotisserie chicken, my server suggested a small order of both. I had a small ceviche followed by a quarter of dark meat chicken. Both were great. The ceviche was fresh and spicey, with a nice variety of seafood, and the chicken was succulent and extremely flavorful. The service was attentive, with my dishes coming out in the right order with good timing. I'd go again.
