Good food, but we waited for >30 minutes past our reservation time. The check in process was pretty chaotic, and the hostess was not really able to tell us when our table would be ready (at first they said 20 min, then they said "we have no idea", which seems a little odd when you had a reservation). In the end the manager found us a table. Food was pretty good (some dishes excellent, others just OK), average price for SF area. Would recommend but avoid peak times unless you want to wait.

I love this restaurant - a GREAT place to take out of town guests, as I just found. The food as always was delicious and the service was good, once you get to your table! We had an 8:30 pm reservation and weren't seated until about 8:55 which would not be so bad if there were a place to sit inside to wait which there isn't or were it not such a cold SF night outside. Don't take on too many patrons at once, Limon! It ruins the experience for you and the customer!

Server asked us not once but three times if everything was all right. Food was very salty, though I had asked for low salt. Everything else was fine. Yes, very very noisy.

I had been a regular of Limon for 10+ years, however I hadn't been for quite awhile and although I would recommend and return again, it was a little disappointing. Still some of the yummiest chicken in SF, however noticeable reduction in the sides and served with only 1 dipping sauce vs 3. 1. The side of Yucca was measly 4 pieces and used to be double. (I asked the runner about it and he smiled sheepishly and brought some more Yucca to the table) 2. We didn't like that 2 of the sides are now served on the same tray as the chicken - which I understand is more convenient, but it was better with individual dish per food type. 3. the side salad change from an interesting one with red beets and assorted veg, and crunchy nut element, to a bland lettuce,tom,cuke. 4. ONlY on food server to cover 20 tables and the place was full. She did her best, but not possible for her to be successful.

If you ever want items on separate plates - please know you can request this and we will accommodate the best as possible! We do have standard plating and have always served our meals together on the same plate unless the plate did not accommodate.

We have eaten at Limon regularly over the years...it was always one of our favorites. But quality has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. We won’t eat there again. Server was indifferent. Salads and vegetables bland. Shrimp ceviche was not fresh. 3 out of 4 diners in our group ended up sick to their stomachs a few hours later. Lomo Saltado was excellent.

Love the service and food, but hate how loud it is at dinner time! I specifically requested through Open Table to be placed in a corner if possible, away from the front door or kitchen.... We were placed right next to the kitchen and unfortunately next to a woman with a shrill voice (restaurant can't help that, I know haha)... Nevertheless, my partner and I were barely able to speak without yelling and ended up not really conversing and developed a headache from the outing. That was sad because we were celebrating an interview I had had that day, but couldn't really talk about it. There was an open table in the corner that just needed to be cleaned off. Maybe the host just missed my request or maybe it's not easily found through your software. If you get multiple complaints of restaurants missing customers request, you may want to change the placement of the notations.

Not everything we ordered was great, but mostly it was, and good value too. The vibe is friendly and lively, maybe a little claustrophobic and loud, but worth it for a great selection of Peruvian dishes and fine rotisserie chickens. Friendly attentive service despite the full room, always a plus.

This was the birthday lunch celebration for our daughter. My Pulpo a la Parrilla has a nice presentation but the octopus is salty. My husband finds the crispy chicken of Polli Papas is salty too. But overall food is good, ambiance is nice & service is fine.

I hate to write a negative review, BUT, after sleeping on it, I feel compelled. Six of us got together as one of us now lives in New Orleans now and it has been four years since we all got together. Food was great, drinks were good, but pricey. The problem was the service. And I don't mean our waitperson. When the bill came we were all talking (as we hadn't seen each other in YEARS). Within 5 minutes, a staff member came to our table four times to see if we were paying. I've never experienced that kind of pressure and thought it was rude. Then it got worse, someone else (maybe the manager), came over and said they had people waiting and we needed to pay and leave. WHAT?!? I eat out a lot and have NEVER experienced that level of rudeness. It was Friday night, yes, but we had been there an hour and 15 minutes, and our drinks took longer than they should have (a nice apology for that happened earlier). We were STUNNED. When we left, there was no line. No excuse for the awful treatment. I won't be back.

The experience was great besides my table neighbor breaking my plate when sitting and my other table neighbor accidentally flicking food on my friends white shirt. It was a day.

We eat here often, at least 2 times a month. First of all, the food is WONDERFUL. They had really good seafood, ceviche, and the rotisserie chicken is great. It's the hit or miss service that brings this place down. One moment you will have a very attentive server, but more often, you will have an absent, forgetful and somewhat apologetic waiter. On our last two visits, we were forgotten about after placing our orders. After 20 minutes of waiting I had to get up and go get our table our drinks because they left them sitting at the side bar for 15 minutes. The last part of our dinner order was not placed, so we just cancelled it. The food is good, just don't expect good service.

Food was pretty good. Cooked well and very flavorful. We ordered the truffle mac & cheese, a half chicken, the seafood rice and the rib eye.

However, the hostess was abrupt and rude. We spoke English and confirmed our reservation, though 2 of us were about 15 minutes late due to how difficult it was to find parking. In fact, we parked about 4 blocks away. The hostess then turned around, spoke Spanish to her coworker about us and debated whether to give us a certain table or not. I guess she didn't know I understood Spanish or maybe didn't care. She also told us that we only had one hour to complete our meal and leave.

Party of 6 with reservations - we were sat downstairs at a table made for 4 - very crammed. We ordered appetizer and one person a salad all of that came at the same time as our meals and before our drinks from the bar even,so you can imagine how crowded the table became. When dessert was brought out a glass of water was spilled on one of our guests alotjihhb the waiter apologized he did not bring napkins or offer to have a manager come over he actually laughed at the situation - we did request a manager after we paid bill in full plus tip as the person who was spilt on shoes were suede and ruined - manager offered an appetizer on next visit but we declined as we will not be back

This place used to be great. Sadly, no so much anymore. The ceviche was very fishy. The limo saltado was undercooked. Seriously, I asked for some sauce and they charge $2.00 for a tablespoon. The waiter was rude and we felt rushed to leave. Then the waiter moves us in the middle of our meal. Sorry limon. Time to go elsewhere ...

This place has been our favorite Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco for years, but within the last year or so, it no longer is. My mother's and my favorite seafood dish was the Pescado a lo Macho. They served it with Petrale Sole, but within the last year, they changed it to tilapia and the price increased! Disappointed to learn that a cheaper ingredient was being used and charging more. Upon this last visit, I asked for hot sauce but was told it would be $2! Seriously, $2 for about 2 tablespoons of hot sauce. Sadly, we won't be visiting this place like we used to.
