Limon Rotisserie - Valencia Ratings and Reviews
While the food is very good, the staff was a huge letdown. Hostess very unfriendly (commented by others waiting as well), there were open tables downstairs, we had a reservation, but were seated upstairs which is devoid of ambiance. Service extremely rushed like they just wanted to turn the table. We were considering another drink and asked our waitress if there was seating at the bar and we would give up our table. She said yes. Went downstairs immediately and there was no seating. She just wanted to get rid of us. We left very disappointed in the evening.
This was our first visit, and we were extremely pleased ... we will definitely return next time we are in SF. Friendly service; delicious combination of flavors and fresh ingredients; reasonable corkage $15. The special arroz and rotisserie entree was superb; popu a great side dish; ensalada side is good healthy portion; comp fried chicken entree was a great treat!
The food is phenomenal. I’ve gone twice while visiting a friend when in town. I had the opportunity to bring 5 colleagues with me this last time and everyone loved everything. The paella and chicken empanadas are to die for as well as the ceviche. Don’t miss out!
Food was excellent as always. But this branch has a very frustrating way of dealing with reservations: when we arrived, we were told we'd need to wait 20 minutes for a table, despite having made a reservation. When I protested loudly, they somehow found a way to seat us sooner. But do we really need to begin a meal with an unpleasant interaction?
I love Limon, the food, and I adore the Peruvian drinks...just the basic one is my fave, along with ceviche misto is all I need to be very happy! And it’s right near my favorite hang outs. The only problem is that everyone else loves Limon as much as me and now the noise level is har to bear and I feel rushed by staff. They are frantic trying to accommodate us all, and we are packing in there. If you get there 15 minutes late, you will loose your table on a busy night (every night). I still recommend it and and will return and return for my Pisco and ceviche misto after crossing the street from Good Vibes then crossing again afterwards to see Bombshell Betty’s Burlesque show at the Elbo Room.
Limón had great service. Super attentive and friendly. Food came out almost too fast but we also dined early and the restaurant wasn’t full yet. The food was amazing. Ceviche mixto was perfect because we couldn’t decide which one we wanted. The rest we ordered and shared. Whole chicken, Saltado,Empanadas. Drinks were made perfectly and tasted great. I highly suggest the pisco sour. The chocolate bandido finished the meal. The rich fudge center and coffee ice cream were perfect together. Highly recommend. Thank you.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but to be quite honest the food and overall experience has been depleting the past few times. They used to serve 3 sauces now its only one and even the food has not been as good. I might give it another chance, but as of now rather disappointed.
Location is great as we were watching a film at the Roxie. We were given a table by the window so we enjoyed people watching.
This place is more than energetic in terms of noise level ... I don't think I would return here when there are many people, we happened to pick a time when the restaurant was not packed, i.e., late afternoon. Other reviewers commented on the noise level, which was a concern of mine, as part of dining is not just having good food, but good conversation, too.
Food-wise, it was good and tasty, ... reasonably sized portions for the chicken and 2 sides plus our drinks. The salad was a little over-dressed, so next time perhaps it should be given on the side. My husband enjoyed the sangria; I gave him mine and ordered a margarita, which was more suited to me.
Food was excellent. Service was too fast...everything arrives within minutes of ordering, and everything arrives at once. I have never been to a real restaurant, except perhaps a Chinese greasy spoon, where everything arrives instantly. Slow down folks! Let us enjoy our drinks!
Food was fantastic as usual, however I was disappointed in the service. Everyone's plates came out very slowly and by the time I had my food most everyone else had finished. Not an, "I'm sorry" from our server or any sense of urgency when I asked when my food would be out. Too bad.
Very loud. Was seated upstairs sandwiched between 4 large groups of 8 or more. There were two of us. Not enjoyable but the food was good. Acoustics up there were terrible. Impossible to have a normal conversation without screaming to hear each other. Service was mediocre at best.
Had a reservation and waited 20minutes to be seated. That's fine, but through our entire meal the waiter never came to fill up our water. I noticed other tables at carafes of water. The noise level was insane. We are young people who like lively, fun dining spots, but it was deafening upstairs and we couldn't even hear each other across the table. I definitely prefer the other Limon location. Won't be back here.
I usually go to the one on South Van Ness, staff are nicer and their customer service is great. We got a server that either was having a bad day or had no idea about customer service. The guy was short and rude. He only took our order and never came back to Cheka on us. Very poor service!!!!
We were a party of 2 and we ordered a lot of food and our table was very cramped and we saw the table next to us getting up and asked the server if we could use the table when the people left and she joking said that we would probably need it because of all the food we ordered. When the busser came by to clear the table he helped move it next to our so we put some of our dishes on it and a manager said he needed the table so we took our stuff off and moved it back - in order to fit everything on the 2 top table we were forced to consolidate our dishes and cram everything together - meanwhile I noticed there were plenty of empty tables and the restaurant was closing soon- the manager never sat the table next to us so basically we had to sit there uncomfortably for our entire meal with an empty table right next to us - not cool
One star for the hostess and 4 stars for the food. I wanted to celebrate my birthday here bringing my children, for they've never tried this place. My son was running late, due to accident on the road, which was 5 minutes from time allotted, and though there was 4 of us and I wanted to order, the hostess on 8/24:2017 at 6:30 could not seat us. Instead, she gave the table away, which I had requested and was then seated upstairs. Dear Limon, customer service is what matters. Disappointed that my table was given away, though they could've seated those people upstairs for you knew I was there and present.
So, zero stars for hostess and 4 stars for food! It was a birthday celebration that you just ruined! Would go back to Burlingame Limon where customer service is much appreciated. My husband did remind hostess that it was for a birthday celebration, but was disregarded. Thumbs down for the lady hostess!
Friends of mine recommended this Peruvian restaurant in the Mission district of SF for its excellent food. I went there after dinner with a colleague for a business dinner a few nights ago.
Service was enthusiastic and friendly. The food was excellent - we shared a half chicken (El Pollo a la Brasa) and an order of Pescado a lo Macho, both of which were delicious.
The room was large and pleasant and filled with a diverse crowd of people, skewing young.
My only complaint is that the noise level made it almost impossible to conduct a conversation.
Th food was ok. Nothing too special. It was a Monday night but the restaurant was packed. Food came out super fast but overall service was slow and we barely saw our server. However the worst was the overall noise in the restaurant. It was impossible to hold any kind of a normal conversation with whomever you were dining with, it was that loud.
I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time. I was a bit disappointed. My friend and I ordered the chicken which was over cooked and dry. The best part of the meal was the pancotte. We did tell the waiter about the chicken and he said he would let the chef know. He said if we had told him when we got the food, he would have given us a fresher and more jucy chicken.
We had an excellent dinner for five. Front window seat was great; service and attention to our group was excellent, and our party was three gray-hairs and two young adults (not as trendy a total package as most diners). I mention this because we didn't feel out of place and were treated well. Excellent food and margaritas. The shared whole chicken with two sides is an excellent anchor for the meal. We built on that and it was a reasonable tab even with two pitchers of margaritas and lots of additional dishes.
