Limestone Grille Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant dining experience. We were celebrating our second wedding anniversary, as we were unable to celebrate our first together due to me being out of the country last year. The wait staff(I believe her name was Casey) was extremely attentive and answered all of our questions with just the sweetest attitude. We have never had such amazing service in all all lives!! Casey even obliged when I asked her to take a photo of us! And to top off the most beautiful second anniversary we could have asked for, our table was chosen for a lucky mystery drawing! We were planning on ordering desert but it was extra special that we won the free desert! Keep up the outstanding work done at The Limestone!! We are sure to return in the future!!
My significant other and I took our mothers there for dinner. Right from the start, however, as I pushed in my chair, it was caught on the rug that was fraying and separated from the seam. The chair was stuck on the hole in the wood underneath. The two steak dishes were under cooked and the wait time between courses was too long. While there were many things to enjoy about the restaurant, there were too many negative things overshadowing the experience. It was unfortunate as we heard great things and had higher expectations.
I was looking for the perfect place to take my mother out for her 70th birthday. I read the reviews and it sounded just right. When we got there we were treated like special guests. The steaks were juicy and the sides were delish. We were particularly pleased with the bread and the personalized butter/olive oil/balsamic dish everyone received. A must return spot!
I took my mother out to an early dinner, and it was a very pleasant experience, It was before 6pm on a Monday night, so it was pretty quiet. I wouldn't say the wine list was "notable," but I did find a very nice chardonnay. There was just enough variety in wines to cover the basics sufficiently. The food was delicious and somewhat creative. Portion sizes were sufficient enough that we boxed up the leftover entrees while saving room for some nice desserts. Mom is already talking about going back.
Beautiful lodge or cabin feel with a dark romantic ambiance. It may be good for families, but my husband and I had a nice romantic dinner. Spinach and artichoke dip was delicious! Great wine list, too!! Definitely not a hot spot for vegetarians, but the vegetarian risotto was phenomenal!!
My husband and I chose to stay at The Craftsman on our wedding night, and we are so glad that we did! The room was absolute perfection and everything we wanted for our night. The next morning we met family at the Limestone Grill next door for bunch. We had a group of 11. We were in out own separate room, which was nice and private. Everyone loved the breakfast also. I was expecting a brunch buffet which it actuallly was not, but the food was so good I didn't even care. I HIGHLY recommend the corned beef hash benedict! It was divine.
I do not dine at the Limestone on a regular basis, but when I do the food is cooked to perfection and the staff is very accommodating. The staff went out of their way top repair a specials menu item even though the item wasn't on the specials list at the time.
Our server must have been new- he wasn't knowledgeable on the wine list or beer selection but did provide us with printed lists. He also wasn't sure of the answers to some of the questions we had about the dinner plates (IE: what veggies were in the risotto). But he was polite and service was timely. Most of our dishes (5 in our party) could have been hotter when presented. The spinach dip was outstanding.
the Delmonico steak was prepared exactly as I requested. The pasta my lady ordered was tasty, delightful to her pallet, moist, and attractive. The room was quiet, pleasant, and the other guests were sufficiently separated so that we had a normal conversation without worry about being hear nor hearing others.
If you like meat in your dessert you will like the lamb dish. I could hardly eat one bite since it was so sweet that I could bite sugar crystals in it. When asked the explanation was " it is the fig sauce for this recipe". If you go here think twice befoe you order lamb. The appetizer we ordered was very good- firecracker shrimp. The waitress forgot to bring the bread before main course and we had to ask for it seeing it on the other tables.
She apologized though. Food is very expensive for this area. ($30 for main course).
It is fine dining at its best. The friendly staff makes you feel comfortable and special. You are not rushed to order, the food courses are served so you are not hurried and at just the right pace. I eat slowly, so I especially appreciate not having my appetizer, salad or entre all on the table at the same time. My complements and gratitude to the staff for making our dining experience very pleasant.
One of our favorite places, it never disappoints, one of
The few white table cloth dining that still includes a salad with your entree. Staff is friendly service is great. They do not try to rush you. Had the scallops wonderful kids had the bolognese large portion I would get the 1/2 size next time, you'll love it;)
the Limestone Grille is a nice place but it could be great with better attention to detail. Our initial service was slow and the wait staff needs better trained for fine dining. With nice ambience and above average pricing there should be tablecloths. It is a nice place for a special occasion. The food is very good but they have to step it up in all departments to compete in a very competitive dining market.
Thank you to the Limestone Grille for a wonderful brunch on Mother's Day. I actually booked the reservation to follow my daughter's SU graduation. I usually do not enjoy a Mother's Day brunch but this was superb. The food was fresh, presentation was lovely and the flavors were exactly "spot on".
The food and service at Limestone Grille were both very good on a recent Sunday evening. The meal-sized salade nicoise came with a big piece of seared tuna. The wild mushroom main course was very nice with a delicious sauce over the puff pastry ensemble. We were able to chat with our friends in an atmosphere that was not rushed or harried. We definitely would return again to try some of the other dishes.
Large group reserved for 9 and expanded to 10. Everyone highly complimentary about food choices. About half the group selected soup/sandwich special: bowl of soup and 1/2 special sandwich. The turkey tetrazini soup was well received and the sandwich special included turkey and pesto with cheese on a specialty bread. I had a grilled Tuscan vegetable salad that was excellent in the grilled vegetables and added chicken ($6) but was somewhat lackluster in the romaine lettuce it was placed on. Overall, generous portions, good food and very good value for lunch. Service was a bit on the slow side but perhaps our large group taxed their resources. Decor is sophisticated and elegant in stone and wood but with a modern feel to it. Dress was casual.
To start with the positives, the atmosphere was great and the service was friendly. I felt very comfortable and cozy, yet a sense of elegance still maintained. Entire meal took a little long but I think that was by design to create a formal "dining experience" and I wasn't too miffed. However, I now know why this is one of the few places I could get a reservation for on Valentine's Day. Food wasn't terrible, but for the price it did seem unjustified. Probably one of the most expensive meals I've had in Syracuse but it by far wasn't one of the best. Had the artichoke appetizer and the cheese on it tasted like the cheese they use at Pizza Hut. For dinner had the prime rib special and it was so tough I couldn't cut through the meat!
The food was good but nothing to write home about. Steak was good but not exceptional. (We've had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse). Service was good, but that is expected. Again, nothing exceptional. Basically the whole experience was OK, but nothing special in our opinion. If we were hungry and in the neighborhood, we might go back. We wouldn't go out of our way.
We checked out the menu before making reservations. When we arrived on time, it was a good 5 minutes before the hostess showed up. There was only one other table occupied. Service was slow, had to ask for the wine flight that we had seen online in the menu. Soup was good, salad was good. Bread and dipping sauces not so. Steak was good, cooked well. Seafood special wasn't. Choice of sides very limited, garlic mashed or bland rice. Side vegetable good. Very quiet if you want a place to talk. Slower service, so you don't feel rushed. I would try again and just have salad and steak, but a bit pricey when you don't like the sides or bread.
When we sat down we had only one page on a menu to choose from and the items were pretty pricey. My wife and I had one appetizer and we had an entree each with one dessert and two drinks each and the bill was close to $100. That said, the food was outstanding so I would take her here again for our next anniversary. I'll just make sure I save up.
