Limani Seafood Grill Ratings and Reviews
This place is hit or miss. I've been there when the food was prepared well and it was fabulous and other times like this dinner when my fish was overcooked. The calamari appetizer wasn't much better although my wife loved her selection. It's very inconsistent and after dinners like this I ask myself why I keep going back.
Obnoxiously loud music played by owners friends who decided to bring their own BOOM box music and play at at full volume at the table next to us, while they banged repeatedly on their table. Management’s response was to say there was nothing they could do about it because it was the owner’s friends.
We found this hidden gem on Google search of byob restaurants nearby. And to our amazement, we were never disappointed! My party of 3 were seated immediately without a reservation. The atmosphere was cozy. The hostess which later we learned she (Vacilia) was the owner welcomed us with open arms (literally). Our waiter was very attentive & knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered 2 appetizers (buffalo calamari & mussels) and o boi the calamari was awesome! Our entrees were New England, Swordfish & Scallops w/figs & apples... all were phenomenally seasoned well and fresh!!! At first we thought it was pricey but after we were welcomed with "Greek Goddess" shots, tasted the food & had awesome service we had no problem paying!!! We for sure will return!
alex was our waitress she sat us at our table and didn't come back about 30+ mins later someone brought us bread and he put way too much black pepper into the olive oil. the back room is small and was at capacity. we watched Alex as she went from table to table and not once acknowledged us. we had to ask the bus boy if he could let Alex know we would like to place an order. she brought food right next to our table again w/o acknowledging us . finally she turns to us to take our appetizer order and i told her we would like to place our entree as well because I wasn't sure how much longer it would of taken her to come back. i was terribly disappointed with the food everything was bland and warm.however the coconut appetizer was delicious .. we got the bill and my date still gave her $30 tip even though she didn't deserve it . when she reached for the gratuity she took her hand back quickly and my date told her that was her tip i guess she was surprised that she was rewarded for zero service . . i ordered a tartufo after the bill was settled and she gave me the dessert on the house that was the least she could do. i was impressed I think her name was Maryann she greeted me when I came in i gave my name and she called me by name when i asked if somebody had returned my ring that i left in the bathrm in which somebody had returned. also, when i was leaving she asked "Debbie how was everything " i told her it was great only because my date insisted that I didn't make a big deal. i wanted to be honest with Maryann i wished I remembered her name because i was dissatisfied & disappointed!
nice restaurant with very pleasant staff.. a little noisy in the back room, but better along the walls..Fish tasted very good, and the service was excellent. We meet friends from livingston, we are in marlboro, so its a good mid point..Slightly pricey, but feel is quality...byob.
Great atmosphere to have a nice meal and conduct a business meeting. Our host was a first timer and he could not say enough complimentary things about his experience. From appetizers to desserts the dinner was wonderful, service was thoughtful and seamless. BYO made this an extraordinary option because we were able to bring some really fine Napa Cabs to pair with our entrees. A good meeting and a great meal is always a beautiful thing.
We've been to Limani a number of times. All previous visits have been great. This last visit left much to be desired. We arrived on time for our reservation and was seated immediately. Our appetizers/salads came out relatively quickly and it was all down hill from there. We waited at least 1 hr and 30 minutes for our entrees. I ordered tuna and sautéed broccoli. While I ordered my tuna VERY rare, it was ice cold, so I sent it back to be warmed slightly, adding that I wanted the broccoli to be warmed as well. BTW....it was steamed broccoli not sautéed, but it took so long to get the meal, I wasn't arguing about that. When the dish finally came back, the tuna was just fine, but the broccoli was so hot that I actually burned my mouth! I mentioned this to the waitress, but she didn't seem to care. No one else came to the table to inquire if I was OK. The rest of the dinner was uneventful, but I felt slighted and I am not sure that I would go back any time soon.
Limani Seafood Grill is a beautiful restaurant with an energy rarely seen in the suburbs. The food is fresh and innovative. However, the service was awful. Our meal took over 2 and a half hours. The only excuse was that it was "Saturday Night" and the food would come quicker on a weeknight. This is unacceptable. Probably 50% of all fine dining in suburban locations occurs on Saturday Night. I also felt the food product was good, but the pricing was a bit inflated on certain items.
We ate here on a recent Saturday night with an early 6pm reservation. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived but by the time our main course was served the place was super busy. Appetizer & main course were timed well. Menu and food were quite good. Service was average, a couple of nits were annoying like having to pour our own wine. The real service problem came at the end. We received our check and put our credit card down almost immediately, which was processed quickly. We signed the cc receipt and we were in the process of finishing our last sip of wine when the hostess came by to pick up the check with the following question, “is this all set because we have other guests waiting.” Wow! The perfect way to ruin a very good costumer experience. Too bad. The hostess was perhaps also the owner or certainly an experienced hospitality professional who should have known that her comment was seriously bad form.
Desire a whole grilled black sea bass or branzino? Look no further. The best is only a call away at Limani. Start your dinner with a dozen chilled oysters on the half shell and a Greek salad. Perhaps you like Ahi tuna, grilled rare, with a ruby red center, here is where you find it. No matter your preference you will never be disappointed. Limani is our choice for fresh outstandingly prepared seafood. Bring your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy a great meal.
We are four retired guys who have about a half dozen restaurants that we rotate through for their food quality, service, and BYOB policy. Limani always delivers on our weekday gatherings specially for its seafood options. We don't have it, but their lunch special is embarrassing inexpensive. If you're fussy about seafood, this is the place.
We love dining at Limani for the whole grilled fish experience. Whether Black sea bass or Bronzino, the fish skin is crispy, the flesh tender and moist and served in a Mediterranean sauce of oil, lemon and capers. The Ahi tuna grilled rare is a must try! We always enjoy a dozen oysters as a starter and a Greek salad to follow. The salad was plentiful and oysters chilled to perfection. Our server, Venton, was on top of his game and our dining experience was superb. BYO your favorite wine and enjoy a great seafood experience.
First time here. But both me and my wife decided we will be back. Saturday lunch. This seems like a dinner place and it was reasonably quiet. Only a few others were there. Good, patient service as a relaxing meal. Shared a sashimi tuna appetizer, which was outstanding. Quality fish. Big enough to be shared. My wife had salmon and I had a crab cake burger with sauteed escarole on the side. good stuff.
