Tunisia. Grilled sashimi quality octopus
Tunisian, sashimi quality octopus ($8 supplement)
Lobster with linguini and tomato sauce
My wife and I were in town to celebrate our first anniversary ( but I should point out that I am 69 and she is 63 ) Based on reviews I thought this would be a nice restaurant for dinner after Radio City Music Hall, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Having looked at the menu ahead of time, I planned on having either Lobster or Swordfish and my wife ( who is not a fan of seafood ) was going to have their chicken dish. One waiter came and took our order for a bottle of wine - and then a few minutes later another waiter came - asked us if we wanted something to drink - and when we said we had already ordered wine - aske us for our dinner orders in a very matter of fact way - with no personality. When I went to order the chicken for my wife - he said that would take a very long time to prepare (???) and steered her towards the filet mignon. I ordered the Lobster, but he said they were out of it - and then he also said they were out of several other items including my planned second choice - the swordfish. He suggested I get the lobster pasta dish if I had a taste for lobster. I went along with his suggestion, but it was a very bad decision. While there was a sufficient amount of lumps of lobster in the dish - each one was tough and stringy with very little lobster flavor. A few bites tasted like they came out of a can. The pasta was also tasteless. At first we didn't even know where they put our bottle of wine and the waiter was slow to refill empty glasses. It was in an ice bucket about 20 feet away from our table. When asked at the end of the meal how things were - I told them that I had many better Lobster pasta dishes at Red Lobster. While they "comped us " a dessert, they did not give us any choice - since I had seen the same dessert served already at many other tables - I suspect they were out of a lot of those as well.
Mediocre overpriced food
I’m awful at writing reviews but just wanted to share that this was one of the better dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Food was unique, fresh and incredibly delicious. I only regret that I am not in New York often enough to come back regularly. It was remarkable and memorable.
Excellent Deliciously Prepared Food. Dined here many times with family and friends. Never disappoints. Usually very good service. This Saturday it was difficult to find our waiter on numerous occasions. Otherwise, one of our favorite restaurants in NYC.
Sadly, Limani could be fabulous, yet it isn’t. The location (Rockefeller Plaza , in the center of everything) is great. The interior is sleek, smart and upscale. The food is good, despite the fact that many of the fish options have bones. Unfortunately, the service is gruff, unpolished and woefully lacking. The inexperienced, unfriendly hostesses and the impolite waitstaff act as if you are doing them a favor by patronizing their establishment. Limani is a haven for tourists, who will tolerate this unacceptable level of service to dine in Rockefeller Plaza. With the exception of Sebastian, a delightfully attentive bus boy who single handedly rescued our table, and tables around us, from utterly awful service, management MUST step in to rectify the service situation! We so wanted to like Limani, as the menu, atmosphere and location are appealing. Unfortunately, the service, from the hostesses to the waitstaff (professional and attentive Sebastian is, again, the lone exception to the unfortunate service), utterly detract from the experience. While Limani (and some of the fish it serves) has “good bones” it needs to greatly improve service and train it’s staff to attain a level that matches the location, ambiance and cuisine.
Good food. Nice place. We will sure go back there.
Great food, service and dessert by the waitress for my bday!
Drinks and food were outstanding!
Girl at the front however, not so much.
When we arrived for our 6:00pm reservation, the restaurant was pretty much empty.
We were shown to a table for 2 that was sandwiched between 2 other tables and were no more than 2 feet apart.
I asked if we could be seated instead at an open table for 4 and was told no. Ten minutes later, another couple came in and were seated at that table for 4. At that point I went back to the front and asked if we could be moved to one of 2 tables for 2 near the wall, she said no, they were reserved. I then spoke to the manager and he immediately moved us - which was very nice. Now mind you, the other table behind us that was supposedly reserved, was open the entire time we were there and people were only seated there as we were leaving. Not sure what the front door girls problem was, but she needs much better people skills to have that job.
We almost left due to her, but glad we stuck it out as our meals were amazing.
We had the Greek salad which was chock full of tomatoes, feta cheese and greens in a wonderfully flavorful Greek vinaigrette (we split that and it was still almost a meal in itself), lobster pasta and swordfish.
Note that this restaurant is on the pricier side - expect to spend a couple of hundred dollars on drinks, salad, main courses and dessert - but I would definitely do it again (if they invest in getting the girl at the front some training) 😉
You don’t allow salads to add protein…. No shrimp, no salmon, no tuna, no chicken, no steak. Any you have the nerve to charge $35 for lettuce. Shame on you.
The food, service, ambiance and wine list were all suburb. Beautiful selection of seafood. The location is perfect if you are visiting time square or 30 rock! I would highly recommend Limani!
The staff was absolutely amazing. I did not feel well while I was there and they went above and beyond to make sure I was ok. I cannot tell you how much it was appreciated!
Food was excellent! Prices are a little high for the seafood dishes but are delicious. Lamb chops were outstanding. Wine by the glass was very good and reasonable.
Amazing - every time it’s the best
service staff not very personable. ordered several appetizers instead of entrees and it was a mixture of hot and cold. they all came out at the same time the hot dust were room temp at best. server may have been new as she didn’t introduce herself when ordering appetizers like this it’s is generally accepted to ask what order you want them. perhaps it was an off nite as that could happen. we would not recommend it but it does seem to be very busy. 1 of the appetizers was a potato dish, just meadiorc for 11.00 and the other was asparagus again mediocre at 11,00.
Amazing restaurant. Food was excellent and service was excellent as well! Highly recommend!
Great food and great service
Perfect service and food! The best food during my trip in New York.
Beautiful restaurant with good food. You can’t beat a 5 start restaurant for $35 3 course lunch specials! $45 for the lamb
It will be our future “to go” restaurant whenever we are in town. Food and staffs were outstanding and the place was clean
The restaurant exceeded my expectations ! The way the staff went away and beyond to make us feel good was amazing ! Or son had an accident in which he fell very ill and the staff was very attentive to make sure that he felt OK and to ask us if we needed anything to make him feel better. That’s just amazing I have never encountered a restaurant in which every person went out of their way so that my son could feel comfortable and happy in the place that we were. And to say even more and the food was just amazing we couldn’t have found a better place to eat and to just feel just amazing.
Very stylish place. The food was awesome, very friendly staff, very attentive, what was missing was a little music to cheer up the atmosphere.
My friends and I had a great time
The food was amazing
Dinner with my brother-in-law and we had great food and drinks- lobster pasta and lamb chops. Dessert was good and Sambuca was strong. Service was good.
Limani is a gorgeous restaurant. Very white decor, like a Greek villa, with blue lighting. The seafood was all very fresh, and the service was great. The noise level was fine on a Monday night when we were there but it might get very loud if the restaurant is filled up. About the only failure of the night from what we ordered was the dessert. It was supposed to be a sponge cake with lavender ice cream but the cake was dry and crumbly and was overly sweet.
The food was so fresh and delicious! But most of all, the service and staff were outstanding. The kind of service that you receive only in 5 star restaurants. HIGHLY recommend!!!
I have been here many times and i was sad to find out they closed during pandemic. But really happy they are opened again. Great service and food. My only con review is that they didnt have a few items i looked into ordering. The rest was amazing.
I felt the staff was being very racial to me and my friends
Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Best restaurant we’ve been to in NYC.
The food was delicious. We had the pre fixe lunch and every course was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared.
Great as always
If you're looking for a cool place with delicious food and atmosphere, you'll find it at Limani. Thumbs up!
Our food was very good…great selection of seafood and special dishes like stone crabs and lobster
Best Greek Salad ever. And perfect bread. But they always give me the crap table.
Very good place. Our family was very happy to dine there. We had good advice from the servers and waiter. Just excellent.
Food amazing expensive but worth it
It was my daughter’s birthday we had such a beautiful experience that my other daughter said she would be back for her 21 thank you.
Had not been back to Limani since pre-Covid. Still a wonderful place , delicious food and great service!
This is a fantastic restaurant in every possible respect. Bravo!!
Dinner was excellent!
My experience at Limani was amazing. The staff was super friendly and accompanied to the changes in our reservation (time and party). The food was PHENOMENAL. and the ambiance was everything 10/10.
My niece and I enjoyed our meal celebrating her birthday. They brought over a piece of delicious walnut cake with a candle to make her feel extra special. The meal was delicious. So fresh and simple letting the flavors shine through (and the olive oil is so tasty too).
