Great menu - lots of unique Sicilian dishes. Lovely service. BYIOB!
LILO just went to BYOB. Good to know. Now I can enjoy their homemade food with brought in wines.
This is a pleasant, unpretentious restaurant/pizzeria which was a great setting for a family meal.
The food was well prepared high quality typical "red sauce" Italian and the service was excellent. We will definitely return.
Food was excellent. Service was great however the food took forever. Once we got it we loved it!! Waiters were very nice and apologetic.
Food always good. Great local place to be able to enjoy.
Love Lilo's. Food is great service is great and it's just a nice casual place to grab s great meal and a glass of wine. Always go with my daughter. It's her favorite place.
Great food, real authentic Italian. Enjoy it every time we go.
Food is homemade and delicious. Recommend the meatballs. Waitress was very friendly and accomadating. Family run. Becoming a monthly favorite.
My own fault but haven't been there as regularly as I used to. Last minute quiet dinner for Mother's Day. Seated in the front window where it was quiet. Waiter AND the busboy outdid themselves (as did the chef!). Specials were terrific and portions were generous. A plus, they are now on Open Table. Since the dining room is small, it's a good tool to see if seating is readily available.
An excellent choice for a large party to enjoy an early Sunday dinner. The food an the service definitely rank in the best of Rockland County.
The outside decor looks like a conventional, ordinary pizzeria in a suburban neighborhood ... But inside, the place is very tastefully done, and gives you a very warm and cozy feel. Food is excellent, and because the place is rather small, service is very good and waitstaff is attentive. Main entrees hover in the $20+ range, so unless you're there for pizzeria-style food only, dinner can get pricey. Lilo -- perhaps consider a "small" and "large" portion price for your main entrees. (I never tasted the main entrees ... so I don't know re quality. But the pizzas are outstanding, and the ingredients are super fresh.)
This place refers to itself as a Pizza AND Bistro, and we enjoyed the "Bistro" part. Even though this place seems to do a tremendous amount of takeout business, don't be fooled because they don't let the "Bistro" take a backseat to the "Pizza" part of this place. The dining area is past the takeout counter and is a world all its own, very elegant, warm and well-decorated, with a staff that takes a lot of pride in the place. It's almost like a whole separate restaurant, albeit a small one The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the menu is extensive with so many delicious choices, not to mention the extensive wine and beer list. I didn't have wine or beer though, but instead their signature Sangria, which you see in a large dispenser when you come in and is hard to resist. Also hard to resist is the dessert display they bring out at the end of your meal. Try the chocolate mousse - it's enough for two to share. The dining area is small and it will be difficult to have a conversation that you don't want others to hear, but we enjoyed the place nevertheless. I would like to go back, and hope they keep that nice balance between the takeout part and dining room part.
We were looking for a local restaurant to take our Aunt out to dinner and keep the cost reasonable. We thought a pizza kind of restaurant would cover all interests. Two of us ordered pizza and it probably was the worst dough we have ever eaten. The Pomodoro pizza came with uncooked chunks of cheese on it which was completely un appealing and truly tasteless. I will say that our other guests who had pasta dishes were happier with their food but I personally would see no need to return. In today's restaurant world, there's so many places with fabulous and creative pizza I'd rather go. Please note though, that our spunky little server was very good and helped to make our evening reasonable. Kudos to her.
A great find for Rockland and nortern Bergen county!
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner...chef was great!
Lilo was an unexpected surprise. You walk thru the pizza area to a small quaint dining area. Service & Food were great. The waitress was very accommodating. Would recommend to friends and want to go back to try the pizza and the famous meatballs.
came here with a large party of 18. really couldn't accomodate us but they tried. the place has a front section similar to regular pizza parlor and a back area for proper restaurant. the proper restaurant isn't that big so not idea for large parties.
secondly the portions on salad for double size/family size look like its an individual size portion but charge $22 for a cobb salad....way too expensive for the portion size...
the pizza was as expected if you want to order pizza.
LILO is tucked away in what looks like an abandoned strip mall just over the border into NY on Route 303 in Tappan. If you drive too fast you will miss it so hopefully this review will cause some of you to step on the brake and stop in for a bite. I loved my meal, I thought the veal was pounded and cooked to perfection and I needed more bread to sponge up the sauce. My dining companion loved her pasta dish with the delicious flavors of chicken, veggies, and light cream. But, what I loved most about this experience was the service. The folks that own/run LILO are wonderful. Good service is hard to find in this area - but not at LILO.
The food was good, not excellent. Ambiance so-so. Service very good. The booth seats were uncomfortable.
Dont be fooled by the parking lot or the surrounding vacant stores..what lies inside the doors is worth checking into. You'll feel like you're transported back to an old neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn. The aroma of garlic, tomatoes and fresh baking pizza will capture you in an instant. The menu is extensive with standard items and some old time good Italian comfort food. Daily specials round out the show. Don't skip dessert! The staff are the nicest people who remember your name and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Once you pass through the doors of this nice establishment, you are transported to a restaurant reminiscent of old-world charm. The dark wood paneling, soft lighting and extensive menus printed in an old-school font gives Lilo a homey feeling that you are going to be cared for and enjoy the dining experience. The service is attentive while not intrusive. We took advantage of the reasonable specials menu to order a steak-and-shrimp scampi dish which was as wonderful a meal as we have enjoyed at more higher-end restaurants. Prior to this, we ordered the pinzimonio appetizer which was prepared with light breading and without soggy vegetables. The home-made tiramisu and other desserts were mouth-watering and delicious! If you're in Tappan, go!
