Lilly's lived up to its reputation!! The Wednesday small plate menu was exactly what we and our out of town friends needed after a long day. Excellent.
Excellent and wonderful selections of local ingredients
Always great. One of Louisville’s best restaurant. Owner chef is always there!!! Go and enjoy!
Everything about our meal was outstanding! Food and Service were exceptional!
The food was wonderful! It is my favorite restaurant in Louisville.
I have eaten here for 30 years. The food and the service are always impeccable.
We enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent service. A couple of unexpected problems were handled quickly and expertly by the staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
My wife's B-day. Asked server if "tarragon & mint were the only greens on the tarragon & mint salad", he said "No, there are mixed salad greens on the plate as well." Upon tasting there was no tarragon or mint in the salad so we thought maybe it was in the dressing, and we could not taste it. Upon looking at the menu again the salad is listed w/a lemon dressing. First kitchen mistake? Server obviously was not acquainted w/menu. Other questions re menu took several trips back to the kitchen. My wife's veal scallopini was bland, came w/2 very small slices of veal and cost $34 (for a plate of pasta?) I asked to have my entree w/the sauce on the side so I could share w/my wife who is allergic to one of the sauce ingredients, entree came sauced. Kitchen? Server? Had to send appetizer back, was too salty to eat. Owner was greeting other tables, never came to us to acknowledge problems. Did waiter not communicate w/owner or kitchen? Did host who acknowledged our B-day celebration not let server in on the occasion? Our special night was a big expensive bummer. We used to always come to Lily's to celebrate. Not any more. It used to be awesome. Now the food, service, communication between staff is nothing like it used to be and certainly not what one would expect for the price.
I dined here on a online recommendation, as I am from out of town. There were two of us. We tried the salad, which was a basic Caesar. The fried oysters which were light . Also the flatbread which was dry and not tasty. Also tried the truffle fries which were uninspired. We left hungry. There was also an inebriated ponytailed man roaming around The dining room bothering people at the tables . I will never return.
Fabulous meal. Everyone in our party enjoyed every morsel! A true Louisville gem.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been to this restaurant. I came back today and brought my niece. It’s still outstanding! Perfectly cooked fish for this visit as well.
Lilly's is always a good restaurant selection. Always great service. I do prefer dinner there over lunch just because of the menu but for this date we were taking my brother, who is handicapped and it was perfect, easy in and out and great service
Great service and excellent menu. A return is necessary in order to take in other menu offerings.
It was a delightful evening. Food yummy and atmosphere delightful.
Best meal we have had in a long time! Awesome food and drink.
Will be back soon!!!
Overall my favorite restaurant. I couldn’t believe the amount of salt in chicken pot pie this time. I am sure it was an accident? Please go back to flat dish instead of bowl. I will be back to check soon.
Excellent in every aspect. Birthday lunch gathering for three.
Lilly’s updates and re-imagines Kentucky regional cuisine with genuine Southern hospitality.
Excellent evening - as always, Kathy Cary oversees a very nice experience. There is always a fish special (and I always get it), and it was a lovely red snapper on Saturday. My husband loves the veal scallopini. Reliably nice experience, good food, friendly service.
Lilly's is FABULOUS!!!! We went there to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary, and we were treated royally. Kathy Cary was very gracious. She is THE pioneer in the farm to table movement. We both had the Bibb salad with smokey Roquefort cheese and the veal scalloppini, absolutely delicious!
Top notch service and very good (but not excellent) food. Had a risotto that had obviously sat on the plate for a while before being served. Our waiter and his team hustled and paid attention to every detail, my water glass was never empty.
Only one entree choice for vegetarians and it was just okay, nothing to make a trip back for. The salads were amazing and definitely WERE worth a return trip. Service was absolutely flawless and that’s always the most important thing to us! Lilly’s remains a louisville landmark.
Out of town guest who has been dining at Lilly’s for many years. Always good, so wanted to take her back to one of her favorites. Never disappointed!
As always, great food, great ingredients, expert and creative menus. Kathy Cary's restaurant is a Louisville treasure. She's the perfect embodiment of the farm-to-table philosophy, and the menu is conceived and executed with stylish elegance.
We arrived at about 8:00 for our 8:15 reservation. We were told it would be about 8:30 which was fine. There were 2 seats at the bar so we waited there. After 8:30 passed then 8:45 we decided to eat at the bar which was fine. We were told that the reservations should have been blocked off due to a large party, but they were not. It was not a big deal as the bar was comfy, and the bartender was ultra friendly! The food was amazing. My husband and I both had the stuffed pork chops. We had an apple cobbler for dessert. It too was fantastic! I would definitely recommend Lilly’s to my friends and family. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is VERY friendly, and the food is fantaatic!!
My husband took me their for my birthday. My niece and nephew-in-law joined us. The wine we chose was quite good and reasonably priced. My kale-root-vegetable-goat-cheese salad was out of this world! Scallops were so-so. Would have preferred them broiled in a lighter sauce, hold the bacon. But I'm peculiar that way.
Our waiter was not very good. We didn't see much of him and he was not very friendly. The person filling our water glasses was tops! The proprietor was lovely.
I highly recommend Lilly’s Bistro for fabulous every day dining right on up to a special life occasions. Simply the best. Enjoy!
Lilly's has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville. Despite the many available options, we've been there more often than any other restaurant in town and had never been disappointed until Friday night. Our server didn't visit our table until we'd been sitting there for about 15 minutes, when he took our drink orders. Our drinks were delivered by other waitstaff, and the margaritas we ordered on the rocks with salt were missing the salt. Our server didn't reappear for another 30 minutes. (We had a 7:00 reservation and didn't order food until about 7:45.) We ordered our appetizers, salads, soups, and entrees at the same time because we weren't sure when he'd show up again. One of our friends is a chef and reported that his pork loin was overcooked. The short ribs someone else ordered required a knife to cut, which is surprising considering they usually fall apart. On top of all that, when we were ready to get our check (close to 10:00), we informed our server how to split it up (usually something that is asked up front), and he seemed like he'd "try" to remember who ordered what. When our checks showed up, items weren't divvied up appropriately. We were further surprised to discover that a 20% gratuity had been added to them. We were a party of six and didn't see anywhere that a mandatory gratuity would be added for a party of that size. So, maybe that explains the poor service, but I certainly expect more of Lilly's and hope this was an isolated incident.
Great selection of flavours on Valentine's Day Fixed Menu. Great Hospitality, and delightful atmosphere.
Excellent food. Great sever. It was Valentines and every effort was made to be sure that things went smoothly despite the large crowd.
The food was great, but be prepared because it is extremely pricey.
We felt like we were rushed throughout our meal. We were told by our waiter that the food was served “as fast as we ate”. They were not able to substitute one vegetable for a different one they were serving that night because they were told not to do this by management. The lobster bisque was excellent, the crap ceviche was lackluster. The Kobe beef tournados were not good . The cut of meat was not very tender or flavorful.
I almost always tip 20%. However, I had no choice on this occasion as this amount was automatically added to our bill. We have always enjoyed our dining experience at Lillys but are now hesitant to return.
I have always really enjoyed Lillys and have considered it one of the better restaurants to eat at in Louisville. My husband and I had a reservation on Valentines Day and had less than exceptional service. Even on a busy night like that, for the expense of the meal, one expects service. We had to ask twice about a drink my husband ordered and no one ever came to check on us to see if we needed anything else. The food tasted overly salty and my tournedos of beef were incredibly tough. Even the couple who sat next us left upset because the service was less than par.
We have a long great history with Lilly's. Food was amazing. Service 'OK'. We were disappointed that there was an additional charge for dessert on Valentines Day as the price was for a "four course" dinner. We skipped dessert with a $200.00 check.
Our food was wonderful.
We had high expectations for our dinner. The menu was not too exciting with limited choices. Veal with pasta was good but not special. Dinner was good but not enough to be memorable.
Service was slow and ambiance was not cozy (tables very close and bright lites)
One of the best restaurants in Louisville! Always excellent!
You cannot go wrong eating here. Never!
Never disappoints Food is always good and service one of the best!
Excellent restaurant as usual. Cathy is a great chef and hostess
Kathy was so kind to come to our table of 12 to check on us twice. The visitors from San Fran were very impressed with everything about Lilly's. Great selection of food and wine to please everyone.
Enjoyed scallops and kale salad!
Would would like to see a low calorie meal on menu.
