Lilly's Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We felt like we were rushed throughout our meal. We were told by our waiter that the food was served “as fast as we ate”. They were not able to substitute one vegetable for a different one they were serving that night because they were told not to do this by management. The lobster bisque was excellent, the crap ceviche was lackluster. The Kobe beef tournados were not good . The cut of meat was not very tender or flavorful.
I almost always tip 20%. However, I had no choice on this occasion as this amount was automatically added to our bill. We have always enjoyed our dining experience at Lillys but are now hesitant to return.
I have always really enjoyed Lillys and have considered it one of the better restaurants to eat at in Louisville. My husband and I had a reservation on Valentines Day and had less than exceptional service. Even on a busy night like that, for the expense of the meal, one expects service. We had to ask twice about a drink my husband ordered and no one ever came to check on us to see if we needed anything else. The food tasted overly salty and my tournedos of beef were incredibly tough. Even the couple who sat next us left upset because the service was less than par.
We have a long great history with Lilly's. Food was amazing. Service 'OK'. We were disappointed that there was an additional charge for dessert on Valentines Day as the price was for a "four course" dinner. We skipped dessert with a $200.00 check.
Our food was wonderful.
We had high expectations for our dinner. The menu was not too exciting with limited choices. Veal with pasta was good but not special. Dinner was good but not enough to be memorable.
Service was slow and ambiance was not cozy (tables very close and bright lites)
Visited Lilly's based on other reviews. As expected, it is a chef-driven, fresh ingredient, well prepared and presented meal of great ingredients and taste combinations. A slow night (Thursday) but the staff was very attentive and the ambience pleasant and relaxing.
JUST WOW!!! I am writing this review after my wife and I have visited Lilly's for lunch and dinner. The cost would be considered on the higher side however in this case you do get what you pay for. The first time we went we had no idea they did reservations but they seated us with no problem. The second time we did make a reservation for our anniversary dinner. It is a nice a quite place. My wife started each meal with the soup of the day and still raves about how delicious it was. You can taste the freshness. You can tell with each dish that this is the real deal. We also did not just have a waiter for our dinner, we had a whole waiting staff. 3 gentleman made sure we had bread on the table, drinks full and pre bussed through out the meal. As we were leaving we were thanked by the owners for coming out on such a cold night. I over all am very impressed by Lilly's. Great food, great environment and great service. My expectations have been exceeded two times.
Disappointing evening. We have gone to Lilly's on several occasions in the past and all were good. But Thursday night was mediocre. Two of the four in our party left disappointed. My red snapper special was not special; the dish was a mess with conflicting flavors that did not work together. My wife had a similar complaint with her scallops entre. (Two others, however, enjoyed their pork dinners). After dinner we even speculated whether the restaurant's chef had gone on vacation after the holidays and has a less qualified substitute take over. Unfortunately, this experience won't motivate us to return soon.
Always very pleasant, professional service.
Always high quality food . I’ve never had anything at Lilly’s which I didn’t find to be delicious.
This is also a good place to catch up and have a quiet conversation with a friend since there’s no intrusive background music or high volume chatter.
We ate at Lilly's to celebrate our anniversary. It had been quite awhile since we had been there. We made the reservation several weeks ahead. In spite of that and many empty tables when we arrived, we were seated at the least desirable back corner table, with a noisy trio next to us. We asked about a better table and were told there were none available. In spite of that, food was very good, as usual and service was good. I had the veal and pasta piccata, and it was excellent. My spouse had the tile fish special, and declared it under-seasoned and bland. Salad and appetizer were both delicious.
Lilly's is a fabulous upscale restaurant on Bardstown Road and we had a great experience there. The food & service are both excellent, the atmosphere pleasant, and the noise level was moderate. We were visiting Louisville for Thanksgiving so this is not a place we can frequent but, if we lived locally, Lilly's would definitely be in our rotation of good restaurants to frequent. We were at Lilly's for lunch two years ago and our experience was also very positive. We would recommend Lilly's to anyone interested in fine dining.
