I highly recommend Lilly’s Bistro for fabulous every day dining right on up to a special life occasions. Simply the best. Enjoy!
Lilly's has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville. Despite the many available options, we've been there more often than any other restaurant in town and had never been disappointed until Friday night. Our server didn't visit our table until we'd been sitting there for about 15 minutes, when he took our drink orders. Our drinks were delivered by other waitstaff, and the margaritas we ordered on the rocks with salt were missing the salt. Our server didn't reappear for another 30 minutes. (We had a 7:00 reservation and didn't order food until about 7:45.) We ordered our appetizers, salads, soups, and entrees at the same time because we weren't sure when he'd show up again. One of our friends is a chef and reported that his pork loin was overcooked. The short ribs someone else ordered required a knife to cut, which is surprising considering they usually fall apart. On top of all that, when we were ready to get our check (close to 10:00), we informed our server how to split it up (usually something that is asked up front), and he seemed like he'd "try" to remember who ordered what. When our checks showed up, items weren't divvied up appropriately. We were further surprised to discover that a 20% gratuity had been added to them. We were a party of six and didn't see anywhere that a mandatory gratuity would be added for a party of that size. So, maybe that explains the poor service, but I certainly expect more of Lilly's and hope this was an isolated incident.
Great selection of flavours on Valentine's Day Fixed Menu. Great Hospitality, and delightful atmosphere.
Excellent food. Great sever. It was Valentines and every effort was made to be sure that things went smoothly despite the large crowd.
The food was great, but be prepared because it is extremely pricey.
We felt like we were rushed throughout our meal. We were told by our waiter that the food was served “as fast as we ate”. They were not able to substitute one vegetable for a different one they were serving that night because they were told not to do this by management. The lobster bisque was excellent, the crap ceviche was lackluster. The Kobe beef tournados were not good . The cut of meat was not very tender or flavorful.
I almost always tip 20%. However, I had no choice on this occasion as this amount was automatically added to our bill. We have always enjoyed our dining experience at Lillys but are now hesitant to return.
I have always really enjoyed Lillys and have considered it one of the better restaurants to eat at in Louisville. My husband and I had a reservation on Valentines Day and had less than exceptional service. Even on a busy night like that, for the expense of the meal, one expects service. We had to ask twice about a drink my husband ordered and no one ever came to check on us to see if we needed anything else. The food tasted overly salty and my tournedos of beef were incredibly tough. Even the couple who sat next us left upset because the service was less than par.
We have a long great history with Lilly's. Food was amazing. Service 'OK'. We were disappointed that there was an additional charge for dessert on Valentines Day as the price was for a "four course" dinner. We skipped dessert with a $200.00 check.
Our food was wonderful.
We had high expectations for our dinner. The menu was not too exciting with limited choices. Veal with pasta was good but not special. Dinner was good but not enough to be memorable.
Service was slow and ambiance was not cozy (tables very close and bright lites)
One of the best restaurants in Louisville! Always excellent!
You cannot go wrong eating here. Never!
Never disappoints Food is always good and service one of the best!
Excellent restaurant as usual. Cathy is a great chef and hostess
Kathy was so kind to come to our table of 12 to check on us twice. The visitors from San Fran were very impressed with everything about Lilly's. Great selection of food and wine to please everyone.
Enjoyed scallops and kale salad!
Would would like to see a low calorie meal on menu.
Lovely night out with the wife,
Visited Lilly's based on other reviews. As expected, it is a chef-driven, fresh ingredient, well prepared and presented meal of great ingredients and taste combinations. A slow night (Thursday) but the staff was very attentive and the ambience pleasant and relaxing.
Wonderful food. Service noteworthy. Exceptional dining experience that would be very hard to beat in any town.
Was delighted that service and food had returned to previous excellent level. Last disappointing visit must have been an anomaly, Glad to have it back normal level.
Great drink selection, wonderful food and gracious staff...be back often.
Nice, quite and cozy with great service. The food was good but I would say not exceptional.
Kathy Carey continues to shine with her creative and delicious dishes! The evening was exceptional from the great service and outstanding cuisine to the delectable wines!
I was expecting more based on all the reviews I read. The salad had too much dressing and the entree was too salty. I will probably not return.
Lilly's Bistro is consistently providing excellent service and great meals. Having lunch at Lilly's is always a treat.
Really good food! Environment was great! Chef was extremely professional and even came out and greeted all the guests individually! Highly recommend!
Lilly's Bistro is one of the best restaurants in Louisville, KY. Kathy Carey is amazing in her ability to bring the best local meat and produce to her tables with incredible taste and presentation. Don't miss Lilly's when you are in Louisville.
JUST WOW!!! I am writing this review after my wife and I have visited Lilly's for lunch and dinner. The cost would be considered on the higher side however in this case you do get what you pay for. The first time we went we had no idea they did reservations but they seated us with no problem. The second time we did make a reservation for our anniversary dinner. It is a nice a quite place. My wife started each meal with the soup of the day and still raves about how delicious it was. You can taste the freshness. You can tell with each dish that this is the real deal. We also did not just have a waiter for our dinner, we had a whole waiting staff. 3 gentleman made sure we had bread on the table, drinks full and pre bussed through out the meal. As we were leaving we were thanked by the owners for coming out on such a cold night. I over all am very impressed by Lilly's. Great food, great environment and great service. My expectations have been exceeded two times.
Disappointing evening. We have gone to Lilly's on several occasions in the past and all were good. But Thursday night was mediocre. Two of the four in our party left disappointed. My red snapper special was not special; the dish was a mess with conflicting flavors that did not work together. My wife had a similar complaint with her scallops entre. (Two others, however, enjoyed their pork dinners). After dinner we even speculated whether the restaurant's chef had gone on vacation after the holidays and has a less qualified substitute take over. Unfortunately, this experience won't motivate us to return soon.
Really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and I will definitely return.
Excellent! We had a fabulous dinner at Lilly’s, all four of us enjoyed each course.
Fabulous as always! Excellent lunch fare and wonderful wine list!
