A great birthday for my dad! Five star -reminded me of the better restaurants in NOLA.
In Louisville for work.... best food we eat all week. Excellent blend of flavor and creativity. Excellent experience and don’t forget the dessert.... lemon pie and Carmel Cale are
My Caesar salad was sub par for Lilly’s. It was drowned in a mayonnaise type squirted on dressing that was tasteless. It ruined the locally sourced romaine which made the salad.
Distinctly outstanding in every way!
friendly - nice small dining rooms - smart & helpful service - delicious food
Granddaughter’s favorite restaurant. Food delicious. Service excellent
Amazing food and service. Attention to detail and helpful with suggestions. Will visit each time we are in town!
Loved the pork carnitas. The chef / owner came by to make sure all was well.
Love how accommodating the staff were and the food was amazing.
For meat eaters the food choices and quality are excellent, for vegetarians not so much. Only one choice and it has been there for a while.
The service is and has been the best in Louisville. Always an enjoyable evening.
Excellent. Love Jeff!!
Everything was perfect!
Perfectly paced four course meal for a birthday girl. I will highly recommended this restaurant to anyone.
Always great food and service
I have been a fan of Kathy Cary and Lilly's for many years. I live in Northern Kentucky so don't get as many chances to dine there as I would like. My niece recently moved to Louisville so we took the opportunity to come to town and take her out for her birthday. It was her first time there. Everyone thought EVERYTHING was not just good, it was REALLY DELICIOUS--exceptional! I live in a neighborhood with many great restaurants a short walk around the corner but the meal we had at Lilly's was one of the best I have had in quite a while. Each appetizer, entrée, drinks and dessert were (all) memorable. Makes me want to make the 100-mile drive more often.
Just moved back to KY and went back here after 20 years. Still great. Every item and every side was tasty and perfectly seasoned from beet salad, to pot pie to crab cakes. Was a favorite 20 years ago and it is again.
Love the food and service but I respectfully suggest an interior update. Carpet, wiring, drapes and bar all need a face lift to match the high standards and expectations delivered by the chef and wait staff.
Love this place.
The hostess was charming and kind. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar. The bar tender lacked charm and made no conversation with us. The decor was dated, lighting was too bright and no music was apparent. Our appetizers were fine. I had the arugula salad and my husband had the pizza. Our entrees left much to be desired. My husbands duck was cold and my sirloin was chewy and did not look appetizing. We had been to Lilli’s many years ago and the service and food has declined.
The food was exceptional as always. We had a lovely evening despite very slow and inattentive service. We arrived at 6:30 and left at 9:45. Took that long for salad, entree, desert. Three times we had to track down our waiter.
Things to know. If you're in a rush...not the place to come. Our reservations were at 5pm. They opened the door at exactly 5pm. They weren't exactly prepared. Menus not printed, wait staff not ready. It took about 20 minutes for everyone to be ready. For that reason I did not give 5 stars. Cocktails, bread, appetizers, entrees were great. Everything was brought out with a good amount of time between courses. Great for conversation. For us it was great as it was a late Valentine's dinner. But if you have somewhere to be after...I would check with the restaurant beforehand. We were finished at 7:30
The staff make you feel special, and the food is always on point. My visits there have given me smiles every time.
We have gone to Lilly’s on Valentine’s Day for the last 10 years. We always look forward to our dining experience.
I took my wife here for Valentines Day's and I left feeling quite disappointed. I'm not the biggest foodie but if I pay over $200 for two people on a special occasion like this, I expect everything to be top notch. The ambience was nothing special. After waiting an extra 15 minutes beyond our reservation time, we were seated and tucked away in a corner of their side room which was really lacking in decor. The music and the lighting was okay, but again, nothing special - quite forgettable to be frank. Our service and food was good which pleased us, but again, for the value ($220 for two @ $65/plate) one would expect more than just "good." For this type of money on such an occasion, one would hope and reasonably expect great food and a memorable experience. This was not such an occasion. I would not recommend LB to a friend mainly because it is grossly overpriced.
The meal was exquisite. The service attentive. We had a very nice evening and plan to return.
We went on Valentine's Day, and the experience was horrible and cost over $200 for the two of us. We have been going to Lilly's for years and have enjoyed it, but Valentine's was just dreadful. Bad service, bad food! It will be a long time before we go back.
Valentines dinner so the high price was expected. Lobster bisque was great. The prawns appetizer was also great but mislabeled. Should have said prawn, as in one! Mains were sirloin steak, part of which was so chewy as to be not edible. Red snapper was good but not great. Then they left our bill with a mandatory 20% tip for a table of two! That’s about what we’d have left anyway but it really left a sour taste on the evening. $203 total bill! Probably won’t go back.
Fresh, local ingredients uniquely combined to bring new flavors. Food was prepared to order and appearance of food was enticing. Plan to get cozy, as the space is limited.
Food was excellent, unfortunately we were elbow to elbow with the people seated on either side of us. Not sure the courses were worth $65 per person. Either a drink or dessert should have been included, in my opinion.
Delightful as always. Love the ambiance and the food delish!
We’ve been to Lilly’s before but have not been for small plate Wednesday. The choices were varied and as always the food and service was superb! I think we’ll plan to come more often.
My son and I met there on a Wednesday evening for the "small plate specials." I thought the waiter was slightly distant and arrogant but my son did not think so. We split three of the small plates. The pork tacos were excellent. We also had the duck pate and a shrimp dish with only one large shrimp. These were mediocre at best. I have eaten here before and know this place is capable of excellent results but in my opinion, we did not get these on two of the three small plates. We had a bottle of half price Spanish wine which the waiter said he had consumed before and recommended. It was noticeably acidic which I think he should have mentioned.
We took advantage of the small plate offering. Interesting variety at great prices. They were well prepared and the perfect sizes. And the service was amazing. Thoughtful, attentive and never made us feel rushed.
Setting is very nice. Feels warm and comfortable. Caesar salad was a non-traditional presentation this I didn’t care for. Entrees were very good and everyone liked desserts.
The meal was excellent and the space was wonderful. Dereck (sp?) the Host made the evening quite enjoyable and I would give 6 stars because of him if I could.
It was a dinner for our daughter’s-in-law Birthday.
Absolutely wonderful! I was there for lunch and had the best salmon dish ever.
Food selection was great. Just the right amount of service, no hovering, or snatching the plates away, that I find so often. Explanation of food specials, and willing ness to make the evening a delight. I will return for a late lunch to try that menu!
My fiancé and I just moved into the Highlands area. We pass by Lilly’s regularly when we decide to stroll down Bardstown road. After earning a big promotion at his job, I wanted to celebrate with my fiancé’s parents and decided to try Lilly’s for the first time. I come from a family of relatively picky eaters so I wasn’t sure if my choice would be a hit; needless to say, I’m thankful we finally visited. The staff were polite and knowledgeable. The ambiance was warm and relaxing. We ordered warm tea and our waiter brought to the table an assortment of flavored teas to choose from; so nice. The bread at the table was delicious, especially after we added the oil and red wine infused salt that was placed in the center of our table. For dinner, we started with the Bibb salad (incredible and a colorful display). For my main course I decided to try the carnitas. I kid you not when I say it was one of the better dishes I’ve ever had. Full of flavor and the meat was incredibly tender. Without a doubt, Lilly’s was an incredible experience. I look forward to our next dining experience at this corner bistro, very soon. Au revoir!
One of my Favorite places in Louisville!!
