Lighthouse Sound Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful restaurant, very polite and courteous service, and delicious food! The entire staff was accommodating and attentive...and, with a special dietary request, while not on the menu, the chef made a delicious vegan meal for one of our party. We will be back!
Everything was excellent: food, service, ambiance. We were totally alone in the dining room for most of our meal. When I changed the time of the reservation Wednesday afternoon, I was told that 4:45 was not available, but at 5:00, there was only one other couple in the large dining room. What was that all about? Since they were closed Monday and Tuesday, the only way to make a reservation for Wednesday was on line. Someone apparently doesn't have their act quite together.
Very nice place with a beautiful view of the Bay. Tables were all for four or more so it wasn't as cozy as having a table for two. I had crab cakes and they were delicious. My date have filet and cake. The filet was a little over seared making it hard and charred in spots and neither of us liked the burgundy sauce. However, maybe it was an excellent sauce and we just don't like burgundy sauce. Regardless, the typical bearnaise sauce would have been better in our opinions. Overall, we enjoyed and would go back again.
The restaurant was super accommodating- somehow we had a reservation (through Open Table) that was before the restaurant even opened- and they went ahead and got us a table. It was a full hour before they were supposed to open, so it was definitely above and beyond. That being said, the quality of the food compared to the price was not great. It was a beautiful restaurant, though not very comfortable, and the seats were very hard for my kids to sit in. Overall, I wasn't all that impressed, but perhaps it was our unique (and somewhat bizarre) experience!
For a rainy holiday night, we found the restaurant quite empty, which we were fine with. The hustle and bustle of the prior week/weekend meant we needed some quiet quality time. The food wasn't quite as good as our prior experience and the server seemed a little 'not put together' but it didn't affect thr experience we needed to have.
Loved the Greek Salad. It was a little different with salami, you could add chicken, shrimp, salmon, or beef, and it had romaine, feta, olives, pepperconi, and a very good dressing and a Parmesan cracker. I have returned since for another one. Soups are good too and their brownie, ice cream dessert was my husband's passion for wanting to return. We will be returning.
We had to wait too long for drink order to be taken, even though only two other tables of diners. Our food fair to good (three steak dinners, one crab cake) but not exceptional. Crab cakes were not jumbo lump crab. Atmosphere with view of bay was exceptional .
We had a coupon and without it would have felt we overpaid for quality of service and food. Will return for lunch which is a good value.
Unfortunately our experience at Lighthouse Sound was not up to expectations. Beginning with the facility itself. The heat was not working in the dining area where we were seated. Although they placed us close to the fire we were freezing the entire time. Service was good and the wait staff tried to be accommodating. The drinks were served promptly and appetizer orders taken. Appetizers were fairly good, however my friends Crab Bisque arrived cold and had to be sent back to be warmed up. The best was the Lighthouse Salad.
Entrees were not as good as the apps. I had the salmon Oscar and the salmon was very dry. Two of those in our party had the lobster ravioli with shrimp and lobster special. The both felt the pasta was not good, very rubber and chewy and the shrimp was very overcooked. We had heard good things and looked forward to this night out. Not sure if they were overwhelmed by the busy valentines weekend or if this is standard, but I'm reluctant to give them another try.
We were disappointed to be seated in the bar. My salmon was dry. Just not the quality we had experienced in the past at this restaurant. We have always celebrated New Years Eve here and this is the first year that the decorations were limited and the staff were just not as pleasant. We may not return next year.
Love eating here and it was a delightful place for a birthday celebration. My Certificate from Retaurant.com could not be used for the dinner for 2 special; however, the waiter was able to get us the entree we wanted anyhow. Had the Spicy and Sweet spinach Salad with blackened seafood. The scallops, tuna, and shrimp were done to perfection. Ended the meal with Creme Brulee, which was delicious and he even took time to put a candle in the dessert. This time of year during the week is a very quiet place to have an excellent dinner with a beautiful view and great service.
This restaurant has gone from one of our favorites to "will never go there again"! Service was atrocious! Entrees were served cold! Fixed price menu was reduced $5 but they eliminated complimentary bottle of wine. Least expensive bottle of wine was $30! No longer complimentary warm chocolate chip cookies after the meal! What a total disaster!
Wonderful night. Food was excellent, service was top notch, and environment was relaxed with great views. I'd recommend this restaurant to everyone. Prices are very reasonable with reasonable wine list. At different times throughout evening between courses, hostess offered raspberry sorbet and chocolate cookie. Was very unexpected and was a very nice touch!! Highly recommend this place. Was our first time but we plan to go back very often. Live only a few minutes away and never dined at clubhouse for dinner. Will become regulars from now on! Outstanding place!
We were never told that a wedding reception would be held in the same area where we were seated, we even had to walk through the reception to be seated on the other side of dining room. Noise level was loud as we listened to all of the wedding party toasts and DJ . Crab cake arrived dry and burnt on bottom. Asparagus was cold. I guess the staff were busy preparing food for the reception. I had heard good things about this restaurant but would not recommend based on my experiences.
This was my second visit to Lighthouse Sound. I returned because I love the specials they offer for couples , the ambiance is warm and relaxing, a beautiful view of the OC skyline, the food is very good - the sorbet to cleanse the pallet and the fresh baked cookie at the end were both unexpected and very special, and last but surely not least..... Suzette Prichett is phenomenol. I brought my husband and another couple with me the second time to surprise them and unfortunately she was not there because of a scheduled wedding. The next time I will confirm in advance as to her being there.
I ordered the salmon Oscar and my wife ordered the prime rib. The salmon presentation was very nice. The presentation of the prime rib seemed lacking -- the onion strings detracted instead of adding to the presentation. I asked for my salmon to be medium rare; it came out medium well. I sent it back and the second prep was spot on. Good flavor and texture. The prime rib was supposed to be on the rare side of medium rare and was slightly more rare than medium.
For a country club restaurant, we expected service to be stronger. The hostess and bus boy (water constantly refilled) paid more attention to us than did our server.
Overall not a good value or experience. We won't return anytime soon.
Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic view! You can dine inside the dining room, outside on the patio, or in the nice bar area. Both rooms have a nice fireplace, which would be great in the cooler months. The food and service was great too! We actually were surprised at our total bill. We would have expected it to be much higher for a restaurant this nice, and food that good! Hopefully they will keep the prices reasonable. If so I think the next time we come to the beach, we might not be able to get a reservation. We were there on a Friday evening and they had a lady singer there for entertainment, who had a great voice.
