Lightfoot Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent in every way, taste, amount, presentation, choices. Unfortunately the air conditioning was so cold we were freezing and opted not to enjoy dessert so we could get outside and warm up. It was a Sunday evening and they felt short staffed as we had to wait for each course to be cleared. I have been at Lightfoot before and will return. But never will I sit and shiver, I will get moved.
We love the Lightfoot. It's a great special occasion restaurant. The menu is always well rounded. So many great dishes to choose from. The wait staff is top notch, knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the Seafood Stew and Steak & Cake (filet and crab cake). Both dishes were full of flavor and the steak was cooked to order perfectly. Great wine menu too. I wish I could remember the Pinot Noir we ordered. Fantastic.
We have been to Lightfoot several times. We like that it is quiet enough to have a conversation without shouting. However, the food needs some help. Previously it had been OK, not great. But this most recent time was really disappointing. The only thing that stood out as good was the potato leek soup. The entrees were pretty tasteless. They use good ingredients and cook them correctly but they are very bland. My husband had halibut topped with crab. It was supposed to have a sauce to add flavor but there was very little of the sauce and what there was was tasteless. I had a pork chop Parmesan with a side of angel hair pasta. The pork was very tender and not bad. The pasta, however, had a seasoning that made it quite hot but still managed to be tasteless. Have these people never heard of herbs? This is an expensive restaurant ($139) and the food needs to come way up to justify that price.
The waiter messed up my food order (maybe he should take notes), and although he apologized several times, I had to wait fifteen minutes for my "salad" to arrive while my guest sat with his uneaten lunch getting cold -- not good with fried food. No manager arrived to apologize, no effort was made to redo both orders, and I was charged the full amount of lunch with no accommodation. Really disappointing ....
Had a wonderful birthday celebration dinner at Lightfoot! The lobster bisque and specialty salad with mixed greens, pears, vinegrette, pecans and a drizzle of local honey was excellent. Also, dinners of filet Oscar and blackened scallops were both delicious and the server recommended an excellent but reasonably priced wine, Hands of Time. Love the atmosphere of the old bank, very fun night, and left full of delicious food and wine. Thanks for a fun birthday evening!
We have been going to Leesburg for many years. Such a charming historic town. Lightfoot is located in a former bank (love seeing the original vault). Great bar area & menu. I had Kim Crawford's Sauvignon Blanc. We started with fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp. ..and the "better than the Chesapeake" crab bisque. Both are outstanding! My Cobb salad was huge & very good. Barry's Eggs Benedict featured lump crabmeat & ham. He loved it! We even splurged on desserts: the Ya Ya Cake & Key Lime Torte. A sweet treat along with Cappuccinos. Our server was great. Knowledgeable, efficient & friendly. We shall return!
We arrived early but were promptly seated. The waitress was excellent. We ordered wine and the cheese plate. I have to admit that the wine menu was a little overpriced based on my long dining experience. The Rockfish special was very well prepared. Overall, it was a great evening.
My friend had to return her steak because she ordered rare and received well done. We had all finished eating before her new steak arrived. (We didn't wait because ours would have gotten cold by then) My shrimp and grits had oil swimming in then dish. The bacon was wrapped multiple times around the shrimp with only the outer layer being cooked when I received it. The lobster bisque and crab bisque had lots of chunks of the seafood but the bisque was too thick and not well seasoned. Disappointing. The atmosphere of dining in the grand old bank is wonderful, not worth the price of the underwhelming food.
We had an early dinner for my mother's 88th birthday; wanted someplace she hadn't been. Food was very good with a lovely presentation. Server was excellent: knowledgeable and responded well to our fun-loving group. The restaurant filled up during our time at the table but we never felt rushed. A very enjoyable night out.
We didn't know about the accessible entrance in the back with a small parking area. Now we know!
My wife had the atomic crab which was great as usual. I went with the veggie meal with pasta. Right amount of pasta and veggies in a tomato sauce. The blueberry and apple crumble was not great. Came out cold and the size was pretty small. All in all it was a great meal.
The food was marvelous but was surpassed by the service. Our server was attentive without being annoying and provided great service. Lobster bisque was excellent and grilled romaine was very good. Only complaint was about the lamb as one chop was tough. We were too full for dessert.
I reserved my table they Open Table a day or so in advance. When I arrived I was seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't busy but rather than seat me in the area with nicer tables, we were seated next to the fireplace by the kitchen. The seat was a little uncomfortable but still the service and food was great. We will go again but this time request a better table. Great experience overall in a beautiful building.
Lightfoot is a decent restaurant in downtown Leesburg. The restaurant was formerly a bank and there is little material to absorb sound, hence it is generally very noisy. The food is good and the portions are large and maybe a bit pricey. I ordered the pork shank and the meat fell off the shank, however, there was little sauce making the meat somewhat dry. The sides were fine. Appetizer was the crab bisque - delicious with lots of crab meat. The wine list is nice with a good variety. Desserts were also good. I would have preferred a little less noise but the design prevents that. All in all a nice night out albeit a bit pricey.
Lightfoot was outstanding, as advertised. We've had friends and family recommend Lightfoot for years. We finally made the trip on a Sunday evening. We requested the patio and enjoyed the casual atmosphere. The food and wine were fantastic and we enjoyed our service. Can't wait to return this fall/winter to sit inside.
Try the lamb shank...spectacular!
Absolutely terrible service. Took 40 minutes to get 1 cocktail, waitress basically pushed us out the door even though we had even intention of having a nice, leisurely dinner. We have never had such poor service ever, and to have it be at Lightfoot was just unacceptable.
Have been to Lightfoot on a few occassions however not in recent years. Many other restaurants have opened that I wanted to try. Now that I have revisited Lightfoot I know it will be on my list of regular dining spots to frequent. Food was wonderful service was friendly and prompt. This was a special occassion so I requested and was given a very nice table in a small room off of the main dining area. Highly recommend Lightfoot.
Lightfoot is a lovely place in historic downtown Leesburg. If you haven't been before, this restaurant use to be an old bank. In one section, by the bar, there is still a vault door. I've always had a good meal here and the servings are more than sufficient. Two of us had the Parmesan crusted pork chop with angel hair pasta. If you don't like spicy foods, watch out this has a little kick to it. Another dish was lobster and shrimp pasta (alfredo--I think). Our friend said this was excellent. Finally the last dish was the pork shank and it is fall off the bone delicious. For dessert, there were two spumoni ice creams (a rare find), one frozen peanut butter torte (delicious) and the chocolate cannoli cake with cherries. I thought the last item was just a chocolate cake....I was expecting some crunchiness of cannolis in it but there wasn't any. Overall, I would highly recommend Lightfoot.
This is our 2nd visit here... We loved the food the first time, even though the service was lackluster. But we came back for a second visit anyway. This visit (our second) was OK. The service was anything but great, which is what's expected from such a beautiful restaurant with an amazing menu.
