Lightfoot Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The old bank surroundings and warm fireplace added to the historic atmosphere of old town Leesburg. The food and service were excellent as always. The tables with tablecloths and unique plating for each dish make you feel pampered. This restaurant never disappoints!! Highly recommended.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I have been there two or three times now, and I have had literally nothing there that was not delicious. The ambiance is amazing. Hard to describe exactly, but extremely classic and elegant. I went there the other day and they had live jazz performers who were excellent (but not too loud). The service is also some of the best I've experienced, and I am pretty picky about my service. Cannot recommend the place highly enough. Definitely go there prepared to spend, though. Nothing is cheap.
Well worth the redeye flight across the country to get back for my wife's birthday dinner. Been here once before at a delicious company luncheon (especially the chicken). For this evening, we had the pork loin, and the steak and (crab)cake special. Both were perfectly prepared and accompanied with tasty, well-paired side dishes. Service was top notch. Located in historic bank building (look for old vault parts!). Fireplace is to die for. Walls are adorned with many vintage posters.
We took two friends to the restaurant. They had not eaten here before and said they would return. We always enjoy eating here. We were a little to close to the music. If I had realized the band was about to start playing we would have sat further away. The waiter was very good listed all specials including the price for each. We got enough service ,but not too much to disrupt our conversation. We had soups, salads fish and chips and all were good and tuna was prepared as ordered.
Lightfoot is always a great place to dine. Only problem is that I called and changed my reservation from 4:45 PM to 5:30 PM (with Jay) and it wasn't done! I was told that I was a no-show. The young hostess didn't seem to know what to do. But, the manager intervened and handled it. Food was delicious and desert too!
I love the place. Great atmosphere. The greeting, the service, and the attention was fantastic. This the kind of place you run into big name people and politicians (we saw the Virginia Governor). The French Onion soup was great as well. I had the filet with the crab cake which was good but I was not overly impressed. My wife (birthday girl) had the special of the day which was a fish dish. She liked it. My boys had the burger and the pasta with shrimp and lobster (I think). They also liked it. The deserts we great, specially the surprise that there was freshly made cotton candy for my kids. I have been here several times and I have had good meals and I have had great meals, but at their price level it needs to be great all the time. We will go again and I will recommend to my friends, mostly because of the atmosphere and the service, and its close to my house since we moved to Leesburg.
Lightfood never seems to disappoint. Their food is reliably delicious and I am never afraid to try something new on the menu. The short rib special was delicious and I would get it again and again. It was my birthday and we only mentioned it during dinner amongst ourselves. The waiter picked up on it and brought dessert with a little candle. Not too much fanfare, but just enough to make me feel special. We love Lightfoot...
A friend recommended this restaurant to us and it was a delightful surprise! The restored bank building motif was charming, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Parking was very limited unfortunately. Recommend using Open Table for your reservation.
Made reservations for brunch, as that is listed on the website menus. And, based on prior dinner experiences, I expected brunch to be very good. I was very disappointed, however. "Brunch" consisted of a few entrees with eggs - one very traditional and another Mexican style. The rest of the menu offered at 11am on a Sunday is just lunch. The food is good, just don't expect a top notch brunch here. Sad because they have great ambiance for a brunch.
We really enjoyed the fire and ornate interior, the well-stocked bar, and the very tasty food. Our kids enjoyed the children's options of pasta and the sticky buns for a Sunday brunch. Would highly recommend for good food, drink, and a nice experience with good service.
I have never had a worse experience at a restaurant. Have been here many times and like the food a lot, bartender was great, I jjust wish our party of 5 would have stayed at the bar. It was my friend's 50th, the host greeted us rudely, our server was snide and rude (even after we pointed his attitude out nicely in a joking manner), we waited 30 mins for dessert before we gave up and finally when we mentioned it to the manager that night on our way out he shrugged us off (bald gentleman). It was the staff on duty Saturday January 20 at 8pm if anyone at the restaurant feels like reaching out. Very disappointing but our group was determined to have a nice night anyway.
I was disappointed. They changed the recipe for my favorite onion mushroom soup. Too much pepper, too much toast. I loved their clams with linguini but yesterday the sauce was just about a pound of butter and salt. I ate the clams in the shells and ended up putting the rest in the kitchen garbage after try the leftovers in the trash.
On the other hand, my husband's lamb sandwich was excellent as was his berry salad.
Service was excellent.
We were regulars at Lightfoot. Not coming back so soon.
Excellent dinner experience. Was looking for a nice venue with a good food selection, a reasonable wine list and a pleasant staff. Lightfoot connected on all counts. Both steak and fish entree's were excellent and well prepared. The bar and dining areas were casual and pleasant - diners dress ranged from jeans to sport coat and tie. The dining room in a renovated bank building is relatively unique. We scheduled early for a Saturday evening and the restaurant did not fill up until 6:00 PM. We are not food critics and were simply looking for a nice evening out without any 'hiccups' -- we were completely satisfied. Parking at Lightfoot is limited but available nearby. We are repeat customers and plan a much larger venue later in the year.
Had high hopes based on the reviews but it was only ok. The crab bisque was a little weak on flavor and was a little pasty. The mimosas were ok, but not festive, just served in an oversized glass that made the drink look puny. The eggs Benedict were on the cool side and seemed like they were on generic English muffins. The accompanying potatoes were good. I sort of felt like we were at a neighborhood local diner rather than a higher end restaurant.
We went to Lightfoot to celebrate my parents' 45th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time! Despite the cold weather, the restaurant was packed - we had to wait a little while for our reservation (a group had already finished and paid, but would not leave the table). The floor manager Nick apologized and kept us updated, and ultimately we passed the time by chatting about football with him. Once seated, the service from Tim was great and he made spot on recommendations. Everyone was very with there entree selections, especially the pork shank. We split a pistachio cake from the specials menu that was delicious. Definitely order the ham biscuits - they are small, but worth it! Overall, we had a great experience at Lightfoot and look forward to coming back.
There is no question that a meal in this beautiful, historic building in downtown Leesburg will be a notable experience. The food is superb. The menu is not extensive but is creative and elegant. Presentation is beautiful and unique and there are enough selections for any palate. I am gluten-free, dairy-free, and meat-free and I found plenty of delicious options. This was our third or fourth visit but it was the most expensive dinner we have ever experienced. Ever. Watch out for a la carte specials that add up quickly. Still, we enjoyed our meal and felt okay with the splurge. Will no doubt return with enthusiasm but will be sure to choose more carefully.
Too loud, portion sizes way too large and too rich plus table assigned did not match request for quieter ( because of hearing issues) or for warmth—was close to front door plus we were
Seated by a large party of 12 or 14. Most of all we were disappointed the experience did not match reputation.
Went to Lightfoot for NYE and had an absolutely superb experience all the way around. Seated immediately, (with reservation on New year's, of course) and the wine, food, and service was all top notch. Had live music playing and an excellent vibe in the restaurant. Would highly recommend for a fancy night out or even a casual dinner with friends. Excellent meal.
