Fantastic atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. Service was a tad slow, but by no means unbearable.
Great place for any event or special occasion.
The food at Lightfoot is ample, varied and delicious. The atmosphere is elegant and sound level very quiet - a great place to have a conversation. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Great dining in Leesburg. The food is the highest quality and in the category of gourmet. Great service and an overall very nice experience.
Love Chef Ingrid! Another delicious meal.
The food and service were outstanding! The steak was cooked perfectly and they were very cognizant of food allergies. We were not impressed with the wine selections and the house red was not good at all. It was very warm but the temperature outside was unexpectedly warm for a March day. The noise level in the restaurant was loud so it was difficult to carrying on a conversation across the table. But it was the vibe was upbeat!
This restaurant was amazing. It is beautiful inside and the food was amazing. Make sure you save room for dessert
From the very moment of arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to the perfect booth for our luncheon. Our server was professional, friendly, and most attentive to our ease and questions concerning the menu. It has been years since I've dined at Lightfood Restaurant, it has retained its place in being an establishment worthy of its reputation. I would highly recommend the restaurant to friends and business associates.
Food was excellent as always, my friend had never been (he’s from Nevada) and commented at the end of the evening 5 stars as well. We both had the berry salad and I had the fried green tomatoes. The green tomatoes were perfectly prepared, not too crisp, not too soft and the shrimp and sauce was delicious!
It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not that crowded around 7:30 so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was courteous, and our service was prompt for drinks and ordering food. The food was brought out very quickly - kudos to the chef and staff.
Great food and service. Plenty of gluten-free options too!
Good food at a reasonable price, marred only by them not respecting the reservation time. We were seated close to 20 minutes after our reservation on an admittedly crowded Saturday night. But we had reservations . . .
I have been to Lighfoot many times and loved the food. Our food was great again this time. I had called to let them know that we were celebrating the 50th birthday of 2 people. Which the gentlemen agreed to annotate. It was never mentioned by the hostess, the manager helping or the server. And when we checked in another guest was complaining that her request for seating was ignored as well. We got a booth in the back corner. Not exactly what we were hoping for with a celebration dinner. The server was just not on par with expectations. He cleared certain plates early, didnt bring additional plates for an appetizer and didnt share specials unless asked.
Lobster and Shrimp Pasta was awesome! Crab Chowder was also very good!
Would definitely recommend this unique restaurant. Service is always exceptional. Would like to see more food choices. Food presentation is always lovely.
The service and food were wonderful!
Great food and drinks
Our server was fantastic
I dined there on March 2, 2019 with my office staff. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant was busy and we were patient with waiting for our order to be taken. The Maitre'de was a little dismissive when I asked if they had any gluten free bread options. We waited an hour for our food and we had only ordered entrees. We all had the steak and crabcake special, which was excellent! The desserts were good overall but the creme brulee was cold in the center. I would go back on a less busy night.
Food and service were exceptional. We had a party of 6 to celebrate my Dad's birthday and everyone had a wonderful experience at the Lightfoot.
Found this restaurant last summer and had a fabulous meal Decided that for my birthday this is where I wanted to go. My friend and I each drive an hour to get here. Our reservation was at 5:15. Started out good. Then I got my food. The salad was very good. The steak was so tough I couldn’t hardly cut it and the mashed potatoes were cool. Waiter never came near us to ask if our food was good. Definitely not good value for price. Probably won’t go back
Always a wonderful dining experience at Lightfoot!!
Excellent food, cheerful, attentive service (if a bit quirky) and a nice room, Lightfoot is a great place to eat if you find yourself in Leesburg. We were lucky enough to go on the restaurant’s 25th anniversary, and I got a free bonus crab cake that was absolutely divine — no filler at all, just deliciously seasoned crab cooked to perfection. My crab bisque and lamb chops were great, too. The chefs attention to detail, including delicious side dishes, was impressive. We’ll definitely be back!
The food is good but they pack people in and the noise level is very loud. The dining room and bar are basically the same room with more dining behind the bar. If you have hearing problems and use hearing aids you will not be happy.
It was my husband’s birthday. Dominic made our dinner special and the evening was just lovely. Thank you again, Lightfoot!
finding Lightfoot was like finding an undiscovered treasure in Leesburg. The space is a soaring example of historic preservation with is a delight in itself in this modern age of faceless minimalism. The food is creative, fun and wholesome ... and honors the customer with beautiful presentation that shows the love of the chef and celebration of food as an art form. Lightfoot deserves wider recognition ... but then I would hate to lose this special best kept secret. Tom Schaaf
The food is always great and the building is fantastic itself.
We have eaten here approximately 10 times within the last 12 months. The ambiance and nostalgia of the historic location is our favorite part. 75% of the time, the service and food is excellent but they do sometimes struggle with consistency in both areas. Some of the waitstaff is exceptionally trained, but several struggle with the basics. There is a revolving door of servers. We tend to have better luck if we sit at the bar, however when the restaurant is busy, most of the bartender's attention is going to service bar requests instead of the customers sitting at the bar. For this level of restaurant, the bar should be staffed appropriately. Food quality is generally very good but we find it is better on non-peak nights. When it is busy, things can be a bit sloppy. In short, there are days where this place is clearly 5 stars and days when it is 2.5 stars. Overall, we will be back.
Halibut over beans and rice was uninspired. Crab cake was good. Waiter was loud and could be heard several table away.
We have dined here several times previously, but this time we were kept waiting for 15 minutes even though we had reservations. When seated, it was next to a very loud party, so it was hard for us to talk. Three of our meals arrived at the table, but the fourth did not come for more than 5 minutes. We have had much better experience in the past. we hope this is not a trend in the wrong direction.
My wife and I really enjoyed dining at Lightfoot. The sevice was excellent. I believe our waiter's name was John and he was one of the best we have had. The food was fantastic and we will definely come back again and will tell others about our experience.
This restaurant is just beautiful! My fiancé and I checked it out to possibly use for our wedding. We were hooked, absolutely love the architecture and space. The food was incredible and so was the service. We will be booking our wedding very soon and can not wait to enjoy it in such a wonderful atmosphere with delicious food! Our waiter was excellent also!
Wonderful setting for a fantastic meal out. We were late booking for Valentine’s Day weekend, so had an early seating at 5pm. My husband ordered the special pork belly appetizer and lobster with lobster risotto, and I had the jumbo lump crab cake with tomato thyme rice. So. Delicious. We also shared a fabulous ice cream cake special with cappuccinos and a couple of rounds of drinks. Service was friendly and attentive, Tim was very cool and looked after us well. Atmosphere was buzzy, setting is beautiful, and we will go here every time we’re in Leesburg! Highly recommend.
Loved the rustic elegance of the restaurant. The food and service was excellent. Will be back again for sure. Highly recommend!
The incomparable ambiance, terrific food and highly professional service has made Lightfoot one of our all time favorite restaurants. We have made the trip from Arlington, often with guests, because we know we can depend on Lightfoot for a special dining experience. We have never been disappointed.
Very classy establishment. HasDC upscale feel in Leesburg. Managers are very attentive to the clientele as are the servers. One of my favorite go to restaurants!
Selected it for a special night and was not disappointed, not usually a desert person but they convinced me otherwise and so glad they did.
What a classy place! Love the ambiance. The architecture. The service was top notch. Love that I wasn't rushed through my meal. The food was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go back!!
My wife and I try to get to Lightfoot every January 21st, our anniversary. We were thinking of where to have lunch on Valentine’s Day. Where else but Lightfoot, of course?
Last we went was a couple of years ago, so we were really looking forward to going again. I will state we went on a Sunday night.... it was not busy at all. Menu hadn’t change from a couple years ago, really. My husband and I both ordered the Braised Pork Shank, it was delicious. Once we both got to the meat closer to the bone though we noticed both of our pork shanks were cold. I’m not talking cooked off from being hot, but just taken out of the refrigerator kind of cold. The waiter talked to the chef and they were willing to heat them both up. No one from the kitchen or management came by our table.
Our waiter, Fred was wonderful. We went to Lightfoot to celebrate my Husbands birthday. Was a great way to cerebrate.
We had high hopes for Lightfoot that simply didn't transpire.
There seemed to be a lag in service and at some point halfway through our meal, our waiter was replaced with the bartender without any notice or explanation. We sat at table near the rear of the restaurant and had to listen to a series of very loud and inappropriate conversations taking place between the bartender and Wait staff. It was so loud that it drowned out the conversations we were trying to have at our table.
We did not go to dinner to hear their graphic opinions on current events or reality television celebrities.
The gentleman who appeared to be the Manager paid no attention yet found it appropriate to poublicly reprimand another staff member for something far less egregious.
The food was lackluster overall. First and last visit.
The server was great but we reserved a stand up at the bar and it was full so we had to sit at a table. We were only ordering drinks and I felt bad that we were occupying one of his tables in his section. It was “happy hour “ but after getting 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers the cost was over $50 + tip. So I spent $60 without ordering any food.
I will check pricing next time for sure.
