Lightfoot Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were good overall although later when moving to the bar, it seemed as we, along with a few other couples were an annoyance to the bartender. Beyond unfriendly. Everyone has a bad day now and again but in the service industry you have to check your attitude at the door :/
Friends met for a Christmas Lunch. None of us had previously dined at Lightfoot. We were all impressed and extremely pleased with the delicious food, the attractive food presentation and the personal service. We were able to converse without needing to raise our voices. The Christmas decorations were exquisite and the building is lovely. I will definitely return with other friends.
We were there for my wife's 60th birthday and had a wonderful dining experience. We were able to secure a parking space in the back "alley" and then walked into the dining room through the back door and past the kitchen ... and the aromas emanating from the kitchen reminded us we'd made the right choice for sure. After 'checking in' at the host station and confirming our reservation, we were seated at a nice small table. The only 'glitch' the entire evening was that after we'd been seated and provided water, it took almost 5 minutes before anyone came to give us menus and explain the specials. After that, everything was outstanding. The waiter described the specials and offered his recommendation, which my wife followed. The short ribs and filet were out of this world, and the desserts exquisite.
Two things: First, when our server was asked about why one of us only received a very small portion of one the vegetable sides, he simply implied "sorry" without attempting to resolve the problem. Second, when asked by our server if we would like to order dessert, we reminded the server that the dinner was a birthday celebration even though I had included that information in our reservation. However, he seemed surprised to know this, and only then did he provide a complementary piece of birthday cake.
I alerted the restaurant when I made the reservation that it was our anniversary. No mention from anyone about us celebrating. Not typical from an upscale restaurant. The waiter was scattered and couldn’t remember the specials and pulled out a large sheet of paper to read the specials. Again, not typical of an upscale restaurant. The food was definitely the highlight.
Will probably go back but may go somewhere else for a special occasion.
We had a 7 pm reservation but waited 20 minutes to be sat. After being sat, we waited an additional 20 mins for bread and drinks. So, 40 mins into our reservation and no order taken, drinks or bread. When our app finally arrived, it was delivered to the wrong table who proceeded to eat it! Not a good start. I ordered the scallop special that arrived NOTHING like it was offered. It arrived on rice with mixed veggies not the cheese grits and crispy fried pork belly as I had expected. Who offers a special and then changes it and doesn't tell servers or the person who ordered it? I blame the kitchen for the issues mentioned and they clearly were off their game and slowed the restaurant down.
Also, we noted in our OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and yet there was no mention of it by the hostess (who can see our reservation) or the server. I expect a restaurant of this level to pay attention to the notes on the reservation and share that info with the server. Not a good experience. We left unhappy. I do not recommend Lightfoot.
Great food and service! With reservations for 5:00, we wondered why we had to wait 10 minutes to hear the chef's specials for dinner. Also, it was very noisy, but not sure how Lightfoot can control that, when a table next to you has a group of women who are just having a good time and talking loudly. Overall, pricey but outstanding food. Special occasion venue for us. Love the cheesy bread, too!
Delightfully repurposed old two story bank building. Beautiful accent pieces, superior chef. Fairly fancy, lots of flourishes and finishes on every menu item; not a whole lot of regular American comfort foods but there is a kids' menu. Only negative was loudness of restaurant. Even at mid-afternoon, the level was loud enough that hearing conversational level talk was difficult.
We enjoy drinks and small plates after Friday evening dance classes @ Adams Dance studio. Lightfoot is our go to place, 3 times a month! The Lobster bisque is my favorite as well as the zucchini sticks. The wine and spirits selection is eclectic and enjoyable.
Had another excellent time dining at Lightfoot Restaurant in Leesburg on the 24th. We were 1st greeted by a gregarious waiter in training. If he didn't know the answer, he quickly found it. The occasion was a get together of old friends, so we were not in a hurry to eat and leave. Lightfoot is awesome for that, not just extraordinary food, but a staff that will read the situation and adjust to it. We stayed for 3 hours with never a want or need, not being followed up by our waiter in training.
Our congratulations to Chef Ingrid Gustavson and her staff.
We had great seating near the window at the front of the restaurant. Everything was near perfect with the exception of the duck breast which my husband traded me for. I’d never been asked how I want my poultry cooked and medium was recommended. As I should have guessed, it was like eating half cooked chicken. I would go there again, but stick to steak or other less “exotic” poultry. :)
