Light Horse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Second time coming here and have been pleased both times. Last time we were seated in the alcove overlooking the bar, which was cozy and pleasant. This time we were seated In a separate room , which was a little cool and did not have the same ambiance as the main area.
The food, however was very good both times. Started with a craft cocktail which had us all in a good place instantly. For appetizers we ordered the cheese platter, onion soup and calamari. All very good. I had the hangar steak with a bourbon peppercorn sauce - cooked perfectly medium rare with an excellent flavor on the sauce. There were burgers ordered, meatloaf and an orrichietti pasta dish that the others we equally pleased with. We finished with an apple pie and a pecan pie....both a must if you have any room left.
Our waiter, Dave, was outstanding!
As always the Lighthouse Tavern is fantastic! The service started off a bit chaotic.. with the water order. we wanted bottled water the servers kept filling the water glasses with tap and one of our friends wanted bubbled water... we had to ask several times for both.. after the water issue was settled.. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT!!! DELICIOUS !!! LOVELY!!
Thank you for making a rainy day wonderful!!
We loved the light and crisp fried calamari served on a puddle of spicy aioli. The wine list is extremely limited, as was our server's knowledge of good pairings. The noise from patrons reacting to a game on the television made pleasant conversation tough. That night the mood was more neighborhood sports bar than bistro.
I've been to Light Horse Tavern on a handful of weekend nights and the service, ambiance and food were always great. However, this past Saturday's visit makes me not want to recommend this spot to anyone. We came for a bday dinner and we were seated in a back room that does give off the same 'tavern' vibe as their main dining room. For 5 people, we were unwillingly there for 3 hours... the service was awful, as we watched full meals come out to other tables that sat down after us. Also, our server came up to us 3 times (before we asked ourselves) saying it would only be a few more mins for food. Three of five meals came out cold and one of them came out 10 mins after everyone else's. We were really disappointed by this experience, especially after talking this place up to those who came with us.
Great food, but the service was horrible (seemed to be the same across tables based on the apologies going around). We received oysters as an appetizer and took 10 minutes to flag someone down for utensils, and despite ordering our wine for apps and for entrees at the beginning, we couldn't get our servers attention for the second glasses we ordered until the entrees were almost done.
Maintains some of the old time look with the bar and dark wood. Very good food but things can get loud in the bar area. There is a small dining room if you prefer less noise. We had a corner booth in the back of the bar area and that was very nice and a bit out of the noisiest area.
Parking can be a challenge. The garage nearby (2 blocks away) was full but when asked, they were able to accommodate us for a couple of hours. The restaurant had a deal with them, so parking was discounted.
Really good experience on our 2nd time here. The food is French-centric. There's a good steak, branzino, and other seafood such as fresh oysters. The couple we brought with us loved their dishes. There was an upright bassist and pianist playing which was really nice on a Sunday evening. The waitress was very nice. We'll be back!
Overpriced for fairly bland food. Waitress made a mistake with order and when we complained to the management they refused to even acknowledge the issue. This is a restaurant that I have been to on 3 previous occasions and whilst there is a good ambience the best times are when we are sat at the bar enjoying a few drinks. Bar staff are always extremely efficient and friendly. I would not go here for food again as its expensive for the quality that you get.
We had a wonderful evening at the Light Horse Tavern. The ambience of the restaurant with the doors open to the outside and the live music was trendy and fun. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the vegetable lasagna and it was absolutely delicious.
