Very good food, good service and great ambiance
Our favorite neighborhood spot. Great food, great service, great ambiance.
Always a good dining experience at Light Horse Tavern! Outstanding food and service!
Awesome family brunch. Very attentive to our needs. We had a wonderful reunion with out of town family members at the Light Horse Tavern
This was my second experience here it’s been several years but I was disappointed in not only service but overall food preparation. I ordered the Cuban sandwich as did my nephew. The yucca fries were saturated with oil tasteless to say the least. The appetizers were ok but nothing special. The waitress tried but definitely not experienced.
Honestly a big change from a few years ago.
I was greeted by a hostile host. When I asked if there was seat availability outside, he immediately launched into a self-righteous rant, saying I should have called instead of making an OpenTable reservation. It’s pricey for no reason. I’ve had better and bigger lobster rolls for less from street vendors. I wouldn’t go back.
We really enjoyed our entrees — the pastrami spiced salmon and NY strip steak, prepared perfectly. We ordered sides of Brussel sprouts and asparagus and both were delicious. On previous visits, the food has been inconsistent, but this time was very good. The noise level is never good…no matter where you’re sitting. The bar fills up as the evening progresses and we’re not a fan of the big screen TV in the middle of the dining room. But, we were pleased with the food and that’s good enough these days.
Always enjoy our meals there!
So Light Horse is one of my favorite restaurants in the country, I come to town about once a year and this is one of my first stops. That said, last night was a well below average performance for them. Service was terrible, well I could go on, I will come back, but if I had a bad experience again, probably not.
Good food but service super slow abs they seemed disorganized almost my meal was lukewarm at best
Nice neighborhood and the building has a great vibe to it - historic. Food was good, nothing exceptional, and service was above par.
We waited for everything and I do not mean a normal wait. We waited for our drink orders to be taken then waited for entree order to be taken. When it came time to order dessert and that this point the restaurant was not crowded we waited some more. We even waited 10 minutes for our check.
Lovely restaurant. Service was above and beyond our expectations.
Our server ignored us for a solid 45 minutes. We had to ask the host for drink refills. Food took an hour.
Amazing food. Really highly totally completely recommend 🙂
We enjoy coming here. The food is quite solid and changes seasonally. I love the historic references. The wine temperature could be better and the live music a bit quieter.
I didn’t like it
Enjoyed our lunch , very pleasant restaurant with friendly staff. Great sea food platter. Mussels were superb
As in our other dining experiences here everything was wonderful. We were promptly seated and water and bread were quickly brought to the table. Our waitress, Janelle, took our drink orders and advised us of the night's specials. My boyfriend started with 1/2 dozen oysters and I with the beet salad; both were very good. For dinner we moved on to the pork chop and the crab cake special. His chop was a good quality and cooked to his liking with a nice flavor. My crab cake was good, but as I compared it to one of my favorite restaurant's crab cakes I wouldn't say it was great.
The biggest drawback here is the parking. There is a garage just 2 blocks away, and that's where we parked. They do not accept cash and then charge a service fee for using a credit card...seems kind of self serving.
A couple friends cancelled and I wasn’t able to update the reservation on Open Table, so I called and asked to change the number of people. After confirming they would see me shortly I arrived to be told my reservation was cancelled. These things happen, no big deal right?
We were re-seated in what looked to be an overflow dining area and about 15 mins later service began. Food was okay, service was okay, nothing to write home about though. We finished dining and it was probably another 15 minutes until our server gave us the time to request a check.
Overall the experience was a 3/5 since the food was decent. Prices were high considering portion size, but the flavor was good.
Likely won’t return given the underwhelming experience. I get covid had an impact but overall was not a great experience for a birthday celebration.
Excellent food: dozen assorted oysters, wedge salad, risotto, shrimp & grits. Waitress was attentive but didn’t hover. Outside table on a quiet side street. Lovely dinner experience overall!
Family owned business, always serving what is the most fresh from Oysters to Meat.
I recommend them for Brunch / Lunch and Dinner - I tried them all.
We had great food and service. Would love more salad options and vegetarian/vegan. Thank you!
This is our old neighorhood bar/restaurant. They are an excellent place for a great meal, great service and good drinks. We love the place always have. I had the assorted oysters and I wish I had more room in my stomach for another dozen.
Always a great time at Light Horse Tavern! Great food, friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere!
Have always had a great meal here! Lemon ricotta pancakes were on point for brunch.
Our waiter took our order and then we never saw him the rest of the night. He never checked up on us to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. At one point I had to stand up and walk right up to him to get his attention. Service was poor. French onion soup was too salty. Fish fry came with little to no sauce. Overpriced for what you get.
Love the place a d the overall experience!
Service was great. Food was ok
The food was delicious and the portions were perfect! Our waiter was helpful and very personable.
Light horse has been a hot mess for the last few years, even before Covid. The kitchen has some struggles in both speed and quality. Service is mediocre
Ny strip and lobster roll was amazing, the oysters were super fresh too. Great bourbon selections with fair prices.
Just loved every bit of it. The ambiance, the service and the food was just on point. Would definitely come back and recommend this place to other!!! Thank you.
Amazing! Great service n food!
Great food and excellent service.
The waitresses are very professional.
What a great place! We went for brunch and we love everything about it. The food was delicious., the staff is friendly and the building has so much character and charm.
Lovely evening. Great food and service
Food was delicious, our server Joseph was so helpful, attentive, and friendly. We had a great time!
