Charming and welcome. Always great food and service. Our go to place.
Family in from out of town. This is our go-to place.
Seven ladies were treated amazingly well. We felt welcome and enjoyed every second
It was my husband’s 40th birthday and this is his favorite place for a burger. It did not disappoint an easily disappointed old man.
Fantastic food and service
Meeting friends that one has not seen in more than 5 years.
Great food, great service, very nice atmosphere. They’ve had a live musician the few times we’ve been there. And while he’s very talented, and sings lovely classic songs, it’s a bit too loud for a dining atmosphere when you want to converse with friends. We found ourselves straining to hear each other.
Wonderful service and very nice time there.
Great food. Accommodated perfectly. Great service from the bar and staff.
Terrific brunch and service!
Great neighborhood spot for really tasty food and drink. Great service. Friendly staff.
Best Steak and Eggs I’ve ever had!
Lou took great care of us. Great experience. I’ll be going back - so much more to try!
Neighborhood gem in jersey city. We were staying to be close to Newark Airport but wanted to have a nice dining experience. It far exceeded our expectations. We had the house favorite meatloaf and the Branzino special. Both were excellent. Had the butternut squash soup with pumpkin seeds as a starter which was delicious and seasonal. Great service.
Great brunch and service. Delicious food and drinks.
Great place. We loved the menu options, the drinks, the atmosphere. We had a great time!
Everything was wonderful, our server Joe was Awesome, extremely attentive , informative and friendly ! Made for a great experience:-)
Classic spot in JC…good food, excellent bar
Lobster roll was excellent
Very good food, good service and great ambiance
Our favorite neighborhood spot. Great food, great service, great ambiance.
Always a good dining experience at Light Horse Tavern! Outstanding food and service!
Awesome family brunch. Very attentive to our needs. We had a wonderful reunion with out of town family members at the Light Horse Tavern
This was my second experience here it’s been several years but I was disappointed in not only service but overall food preparation. I ordered the Cuban sandwich as did my nephew. The yucca fries were saturated with oil tasteless to say the least. The appetizers were ok but nothing special. The waitress tried but definitely not experienced.
Honestly a big change from a few years ago.
I was greeted by a hostile host. When I asked if there was seat availability outside, he immediately launched into a self-righteous rant, saying I should have called instead of making an OpenTable reservation. It’s pricey for no reason. I’ve had better and bigger lobster rolls for less from street vendors. I wouldn’t go back.
We really enjoyed our entrees — the pastrami spiced salmon and NY strip steak, prepared perfectly. We ordered sides of Brussel sprouts and asparagus and both were delicious. On previous visits, the food has been inconsistent, but this time was very good. The noise level is never good…no matter where you’re sitting. The bar fills up as the evening progresses and we’re not a fan of the big screen TV in the middle of the dining room. But, we were pleased with the food and that’s good enough these days.
Always enjoy our meals there!
So Light Horse is one of my favorite restaurants in the country, I come to town about once a year and this is one of my first stops. That said, last night was a well below average performance for them. Service was terrible, well I could go on, I will come back, but if I had a bad experience again, probably not.
Good food but service super slow abs they seemed disorganized almost my meal was lukewarm at best
Nice neighborhood and the building has a great vibe to it - historic. Food was good, nothing exceptional, and service was above par.
We waited for everything and I do not mean a normal wait. We waited for our drink orders to be taken then waited for entree order to be taken. When it came time to order dessert and that this point the restaurant was not crowded we waited some more. We even waited 10 minutes for our check.
Lovely restaurant. Service was above and beyond our expectations.
Our server ignored us for a solid 45 minutes. We had to ask the host for drink refills. Food took an hour.
Amazing food. Really highly totally completely recommend 🙂
We enjoy coming here. The food is quite solid and changes seasonally. I love the historic references. The wine temperature could be better and the live music a bit quieter.
I didn’t like it
Enjoyed our lunch , very pleasant restaurant with friendly staff. Great sea food platter. Mussels were superb
As in our other dining experiences here everything was wonderful. We were promptly seated and water and bread were quickly brought to the table. Our waitress, Janelle, took our drink orders and advised us of the night's specials. My boyfriend started with 1/2 dozen oysters and I with the beet salad; both were very good. For dinner we moved on to the pork chop and the crab cake special. His chop was a good quality and cooked to his liking with a nice flavor. My crab cake was good, but as I compared it to one of my favorite restaurant's crab cakes I wouldn't say it was great.
The biggest drawback here is the parking. There is a garage just 2 blocks away, and that's where we parked. They do not accept cash and then charge a service fee for using a credit card...seems kind of self serving.
