About
Their pizza is reliably delicious but last night I enjoyed one of the best meatball parm subs I've had in a very long time.
food was good and service was EXCELLENT! the server was very attentive. We have been here several times and the food is worth driving for.
Went to Librettos on a whim and it was better than I expected. I was a little worried when I walked in because they have a lot of high top tables. I thought it was a bar, which it is, but it's also a great restaurant. They accommodated us with a wheelchair and a high chair. They have great outdoor seating as well. We had pizza and pasta al la Vodka, and they were both really good! We will definitely go back!!
Most of our table thought the food was quite salty! However we all loved the mozzarella fritte and my daughter liked her spaghetti with marinara. The server we had was not very good. She was very pleasant and kind, but didn't seem to know what she was doing. She took forever to place orders, refill drinks, and couldn't answer any questions about the menu and we were one of only 3 or 4 tables in the whole place. A 20% tip was automatically added to our bill due to the party size, which is outrageous for this caliber of restaurant. I would have given the service we received a minimum of 15% but I'm not sure I would have given much more without being forced to. We will not be returning any time soon.
Just wasn't impressed with the deco or anything about this place. It's a pizza joint that
is very tired looking inside. The food was nothing special. I won't be back
We go here for pizza every Friday for the excellent pizza. It's a perfect place to have a group of people with different tastes and for foodies. See you all next Friday!
we have been going to libretto's for a long time and it is pretty consistent - good food but not great and the red sauce they use is a bit too sweet for our tastes. they are remodeling this location so it is a bit of a mess - and I'm afraid that what they are doing will make it louder. still - for a neighborhood place its pretty ok.
Usual great food and service was lacking
Beet salad was limp and tasteless
Chicken Francese was cold as well as the pasta
Server was overwhelmed
We arrived at 6:00 PM sharp and were promptly seated in the main dining room. However, the dining room area was so chilly that we requested to be relocated in the barroom. The bar area was far more accommodating, and much warmer. We were immediately greeted by two waitresses (Jessica was apparently training the other waitress). My wife ordered a Chicken Philly Cheesesteak sub, while the couple dining with us each ordered a personal pizza. I selected the manicotti. Our dinner choices were served promptly and were piping hot. My 3 companions all were very pleased with their selections. My manicotti was rather ordinary and I was a bit disappointed. My wife makes a superb manicotti, but this choice was subpar at best. The price for our dinners was very reasonable, however and we used a restaurant coupon which was graciously accepted. We sat and talked while watching the college football game on the bar TV. We left shortly after 7:00. I would recommend this restaurant for a quick dinner, but sit in the bar area. The dining room is too cold.
When we were seated, a member of our party inquired about the happy hour specials that were advertised on Libretto's web page. The hostess said she didn't know anything about happy hour specials, but our server would be able to help us. Our server also said she knew nothing about Thursday happy hour specials. Our companion decided not to drink at all. We expected that the server would have consulted with the manager about this, but apparently, that would have been too much trouble. Even though the food was decent, we will not be returning anytime soon. If we do return, we'll make it a point to print out their web page & bring it with us...
We were a party of 12 ranging in age from 3 to infinity. The service was prompt and friendly. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal and I would return to this restaurant.
Had reservation for Mothers Day. Hardly anyone in the restaurant. Waited an hour for food to be served. Not a good experience.
I am usually very particular about Italian food, being able to get a great Italian meal at home. Librettos Pizzeria had excellent Italian food, with an excellent sauce. Anybody who is used to home-cooked Italian food knows it's it's all about the gravy, as we call it in South Philly. The Italian nachos and pepperoni knots were great appetizers. All of our Italian food entrées were excellent. Would like to go back next time and try the pizza. Will definitely go back
Made a reservation for 20 people for a special surprise party on a busy Saturday night. Everything was perfect. Our server was Erin...and she was fantastic. Very nice...attentive...and quick. She made our dinner a very special occasion!
I was very disappointed that the manager told us that he couldn't substitute peppers, onion, and potatoes for spinach and broccoli for free. I ordered the balsamic chicken. I have been eating there for years and that dish used to come with spinach and broccoli, not peppers and onions. When the restaurant switched that dish to peppers and onions, the waiter told me that they could still make the dish the old way for no extra charge, just tell the waiter. I plan on eating there for many more years, and I hope I won't run into that problem again. The food is excellent!
All parents made sure they told me how much they liked Librettos
Thanks
Libretto's used to be a place for good food and good service, but both were missing on my last visit there. I took a group of work associates from out of state there for lunch this past week. The server was more interested in checking his lottery tickets, then he was providing attentive, good service. The food lost its way from good fare to disappointing in both eye appeal and taste. An example was a margarita pizza that did not use fresh tomatoes but used spots of tomato sauce instead something I hope never to see at any other pizza place! If this is how they deliver service at lunch, I fear what dinner must be like! It's too bad because Libretto's used to be so much better than this. Now, they have a lot of competition in the area, so they need to improve back to their former standards or they will find it tough to last.
Met my daughter for an early dinner. Good place for a family outing. Prices are reasonable, service was fine, and food was tasteful. Did not get the partake in the wine list so can't comment on that. Not a fancy place at all, but clean and a good place for a group dinner.
We were dismayed to learn upon entering the restaurant with a party of 14, that Libretto's pizzeria - Ballantyne no longer uses Open Table (even tho the reservation was successfully made through OPen Table). They were able to accommodate our large group, but we had to wait 30". They were "short staffed" on a Sun night, and although our waiter was very friendly and attentive, the service was slow. Most of the food was warm; some was not.
As many reviews before - our pizza was warm, not hot - it appeared to have been pre made then toppings added and reheated - not the real deal - a huge disappointment. Our waiter was very attentive and accommodating.
Great authentic, as well as more modern options for pizza, pasta, salads, desserts and wine selection. great friendly staff.
Food took forever to come out and restuarnat was not busy at all for a Saturday lunch. Service was ok, had much better here. Not sure will go back. Kids pizza was burnt ans water glasses left empty. Had better meals here was unfortunate to take friends and not have a good experience
We ate here this past Saturday with another family for a total of 8 at our table (4 kids included). The waitress was good. Food was great! Prices were very reasonable. Will be coming back again soon for sure.
Went on a Sunday at 5:00. Waiter didn't know the menu at all, couldn't answer questions. Had to ask for water. Food was bland and not hot. I got a pasta dish that was supposed to be tossed in olive oil and there was at least 2 inches of standing water in the bottom of the bowl. Pizza was bland, and the bruschetta had no flavor at all!
It was Valentine's Day, so of course the restaurant was crowded and busy. Our server was great, very attentive, checking back on us often. Long wait for food. We were told they only had one pizza chef (on Sat night? And Valentine's Day?) we ordered pizza and pasta. Apparently, the pasta was ready before the very delayed pizza, so it sat under the warming lights and waited. You guessed it - not very warm pasta. It was all very tasty, just not the right temp. Guess that's what we get for dining out on one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. We'll go back on a quieter day!
We moved from up north and have struggled to find a good place for pizza. Librettos is the best around and they have a good inventory of local beers to partner with the good pizza. Our kids also like the Fettucini Alfredo making Libretto's one of our go to family spots
Good food, good beer, super good (looking!) bartender.
The pizza sometimes is not cooked enough> I have been there and gotten a super pizza with crisp crust but on sun. 2 of our pizzas needed to be cooked more. one was sort if limp and lukewarm. I had given a gift card to a couple and they said the same thing. "Pizza not cooked enough"
Extremely nice place to enjoy. It's friendly and great food selection. The folks are great about taking care of you promptly.
Restaurant very noisy and more table help was needed
Can't go wrong with a seat at the bar and the menu in front of ya.
Great place for lunch. Service is always prompt and friendly. Food is always tasty and as ordered. Salads are HUGE with fresh ingredients. Good pizza. We just really like this place. Comes with few, if any, negatives.
Appetizer (stuffed mushrooms) arrived cold to the table, and two seconds later waiter delivered entrees. Reservation not ready yet the place was almost empty! Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated while watching the same empty table we ended up being seated at. Then, a party of 12 little boys were seated next to us for a birthday party - and while they obviously were having fun (as they should) it was not fun for us to be seated next to this - but by then our dinner was served so we just had them box up the rest of our meal and left. Poor wait service - the guy never came back to check on us til it was time to bring the bill. Check this place off our list - plus it was dirty - our silverware had food spots and the wine glasses felt greasy.
Food was rather lackluster. My sweetie sent back his wine as he said it was undrinkable. My pasta was OK but had to ask twice for extra sauce. Place was dead. Was disappointed as thought it was supposed to be more upscale than just a standard bar and pizza joint. The pizza was not as good as my pasta.
This was our first visit to Libertto's and now we wonder why it took so long. Great place! We met out-of-town-friends there for a late lunch so it was not rushed at all. The food was tasty, service was exceptional, price affordable - all pluses. Among the table we ordered two pizzas and two salads. Pizzas were perfect! Ample toppings and just exactly as requested. Salads were fresh, BIG and delicious. Our server was engaging without being intrusive. Some good beers, too. We ate in the dining room area and will definitely plan another visit there. Place looks like it could be a decent bar, too, if that is your preference.
We had a 6:30 reservation, on a Sunday night. We didn't realize that that was when "Kids eat FREE!" Well, naturally there were some families there with young,. noisy kids, and they may have been running the server ragged because she didn't bring us any water. In fact, she took our order and then STILL didn't bring us water for at least 20 minutes after we sat down. But she WAS very friendly and helpful in ordering and offering alternatives.
The lasagna was outstanding but the bruschetta was rather unsatisfying--5 small pieces of bread about 2 x 3 inches, Too small to make a good impression. The pasta and salad was delicious however.
All in all, I wouldn't go again on a Sunday, as I don't like listening to screaming babies.
This is our favorite pizza place, hands down. They also have good pastas, yummy sandwiches, and some really good salads (I love the beet salad). After moving from NJ a few years ago we tried them all but like Libretto's best.
We go often with the family for a full dinner. Young ones love the pizza (and ability to draw on paper table cloths) while others love all the good regular menu choices. Prices are very reasonable and with great service. You can make it a simple stop for a quick bite or have a 4 course Italian meal. Also has a good bar for watching games or just hanging with friends.
The pizza is great however everything else is mediocre. Skip the Italian dinners and stick with the pizza.
Fun and low key pizza restaurant with a nice bar. Great meal specials every day of the week makes the inexpensive prices an even better deal. Food is great and portions are big. Great for a quick bite or more formal meal or just watching the game at the bar. Second time here and plan on returning many more.
