Took relative from out of State so she could experience one of the best restaurants in New Jersey.
The food was great, service was amazing, views were beautiful. However, they sat us near a bar which is normally fine, but when you spend the amount I did and dress up nice and go to a nice restaurant you dont expect it to sound like an applebees. This place needs a dress code and needs to be sure not to overserve patrons. While trying to enjoy a quiet dinner there were loud and obnoxious people screaming at a TV. Just not expected at a higher class establishment.
This was our first visit to Liberty House - they had a private party going on the room that overlooks the water, and we had to sit in the bar area. Though they gave us a slightly "enclosed" table, it was still pretty noisy. We were celebrating my husband's birthday with his adult children, so this wasn't the ambiance I'd hoped for. Service was ok, but when I asked for bread, I was given one slice, and never asked again if I wanted more. Food was adequate. Not great, not bad, just adequate. I thought the Caesar Salad with brie croutons was really good, but the duck, just OK (generally, if you order duck with a confit, you get a leg; this was served as barely perceptible shreds...). The breast was fine, but a little dry. Probably won't go back except for cocktails if I'm down at the marina.
The view is great (lucky to get a window seat), and that’s one of the main reasons you come here. This time around, the service was on par with the view. Some of the best service I’ve seen in a long time. The food was very good. The $80 seafood tower was a lot to handle amongst 5 ppl. Definitely a place to come back to!
The view is obviously amazing, but our waiter Justin made our evening even more wonderful with his personable, accommodating, and professional service. We eat out a lot and he may have been the best waiter we have ever had. Thank you for a great “date night.”
The waiters we not on point and snobbish. We asked for items that we didn’t receive. We were an afterthought in most cases. The NY Strip steak was tough and the prices were high for what I got. The hostess was great and the atmosphere was nice.
Great service and pleasant atmosphere waitstaff very professional sushi was excellent and always a great view
Food was fine nice view service spotty. Would like to go back for drinks and outside seating maybe brunch.
Definitely recommend this place especially for out of town guests. Perfect ambiance, great service, good food
Such a great place, they were even so accommodating to my 18 month old son. Our waiter was so wonderful . Will come back again for a date night .
An absolute gem! Beautifully located in Jersey City inside the Liberty Park. From the back deck you have a breath taking view of Manhattan and can almost 'touch' One World Trade Center and then on the right side the Statue of Liberty. Stop in the restaurant and visit their great selection of wine and take a glass with you to view the sights. Once you take in the beautiful views, your table will await the boasts a wonderful selection of seafood, beef and vegetarian. Bon Appetite
Waiter was excellent! He recommended extremely good food, first time going there and can’t wait to go again !
Did not enjoy the meal at all. Had the overfried calamari, dry kale and Caesar salads followed by the paparadelle with pork ragu. YUCK! The only things that were edible were the butternut squash tortellini and mussels. Will never go back.
We arrived first reservation of the evening. Stayed until sundown to admire the view across the river. Guests from Greece loved the food and atmosphere. Server gets an A+ and took pictures of our guests. Roast half chicken was a feast with great choice of sides. All this and Parking validation too!
I loved how they accommodated us and my husbands birthday was very special to them as well.
From the moment we walked in to the time we left, the staff went above and beyond to make our event spectacular. The service, the food, the view - absolutely wonderful!
Restaurant staff was excellent. We were 2 adults and 2 kids. Service excellent. Food great. View of Freedom Tower directly across river. Highly recommend. Convenient after Statue of Liberty tour too. Filet mignon done perfectly as well as the pork chop.
Ok here it is, I searched the web looking for an exceptional restaurant to take my wife out for her birthday. I came across the Liberty House and read the views. I thought this would be the right place for a beautiful birthday surprise. Well, the greeting at the door was nice. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. Also there was a lot going on that raised the noise level to very high. We ordered our food, first the calamari we ordered was disappointing, It was very tough and the sauce had no flavor. Dinner wasn't too bad but just know, the experience was enough for me to know I will not return. P.S. THE VIEW WAS EXCEPTIONALLLL....LOVED IT...
I often go to Liberty House to have dinner at the bar. This occasion was for my birthday and it was just as good. The food is very high quality, the staff is great regardless if your sitting at a table or the bar.
Justin was an amazing waiter!!
Great waiter and food was good with a pleasant environment.
Great everything! A really good time!
The restaurant was beautiful and the service was great. Very busy place but still enjoyable.
Belated Valentine’s Day dinner. I had Filet Mignon and it was absolutely perfectly cooked. The drinks were made well and the service was A+. I believe our waiter’s name was Justin and he was right on top of everything. Had a nice view as well- although it will be better when it’s not so cold outside because they have an outdoor area.
Valentines dinner, everything was excellent
Service and food were impeccable...and you can't beat the view!
Will definately be returning. Excellent , friendly, attentive staff. Excellent food. Diverse menu. We were a table of 8. All entrees were served to each party member at the same time with adequate staff without that awkward waiting for the server to make multiple trips. Excellent view as well.
The food was outstanding. We had asked for a window table to mark a special occasion on a Saturday night and didn't expect prime real estate, but also didn't expect to be put at the back corner table next to the servers' computer and in the path of all the parties going upstairs for private gatherings. There were people hovering over our table the better part of our dinner and the noise was well-above the lively level. Our server kept pushing the Brazilian lobster, showing photos to all his tables, and when asked about any other dishes on the menu he said nothing else compared. It was an obvious hard sell. Too bad. I expected more professionalism. One of our 4-person party did order the Brazilian lobster. It was slightly overcooked. The rest of our food was outstanding...the bronzino, the seafood sample appetizer, the mushroom bourguignon, and the roast chicken.
We told the waiter my wife was pregnant and could not eat blue cheese so please do not put any on her steak. When we received our meal, my wife's steak had BLUE CHEESE on it. She ate some of it before realizing what is was. My wifecould not touch her food after the incident. Serious lack of communication in the kitchen. Extremely dissappointing.
Very loud. Food was terrible.
The food is the main attraction here, although you can't beat the view - look directly across at NYC. You can watch the boat traffic on the river as you eat, if you are facing that way. We ended up with both the meat and cheese platter as appetizers for the three of us. That's a lot of food, but oh so good. I should mention that you get some nice bread for the table, along with two spreads automatically - don't fill up on that if you are ordering a full meal, tempting as it is. On to the mains - I had the duck, perfectly done at my requested temp of medium rare. It came with some veggies and grain with duck confit mixed in. My husband had the braised lamb shank - If I didn't like duck so much, I would have fought him for it. Chef Ken does amazing braises. The third person had one of the steaks - also medium rare. That had veggies and onion rings, along with fingerling potatoes. With the mains we had a wonderful Chappellet 2016 Mountain Cuvee (Chappellet has a Robert Parker rated 100 wine coming out soon). We were pretty full, but tempted to look at dessert. They had a special lemon based one, which the other two had - It looked just like a lemon - perfect shape and look. You broke it open to the pastry and filling. I went with my favorite after a great meal - vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce over it (lightly). Just the thing to settle my stomach. The guys also had a port with their desserts. If it weren't such a drive, we'd be there monthly. You can't beat Chef Ken. He used to be at Napa Valley Grille in Paramus, if you remember those great wine dinners.
Our meal was delectable... melt in your mouth. The service was very good and we totally went with our waiters recommendations. We were a little disappointed with the lack of tables with views as we booked there expecting to get a beautiful view but seems the views in the bar area are limited from the full dining area. We look forward to coming back in the summer and eating outside.
Celebrating our anniversary, our service was excellent, the food was excellent and we really enjoyed our experience. We will definitely return, and we will recommend Liberty House restaurant to all our friends!
Had a great dinner with my dad last Saturday. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had a beautiful view of the city from our table. Will definitely be back!
Really good service, we had a great aniversary dinner.
Branzino (we had filled and whole) was amazing.
For the price the restaurant did not blow my mind. My husband and I eat out at an upscale restaurant twice a month so we were really looking forward to this experience at the Liberty House but I can honestly say it would not be my top pick. The server was very nice but I had to ask 4 times for silverware. Our table was not cleared after appetizers and we had to remind them to take away the plates several times after eating. I was extremely disappointed in the service. The ambitious is beautiful!!! The Views of the city are amazing. But honestly I would give a overall dining experience a 5.
We had a wonderful Saturday lunch for a party of three. The food, the service and the view were amazing... this place is an oasis. I can’t wait to come back in the spring or summer and sit outside on the terrace.
