The amuse-bouche is always outstanding. Love the idea of starting with a soup served in a demitasse cup.

Libertad is a fantastic local gem, intimately sized, but high on energy and highly creative, extremely tasty small plates. Given the ingenuity and flavorful, fresh ingredients used the prices are appropriately higher than typical tapas restaurants. But one bite into any of their dishes will immediately make it worth every penny and you'll leave any sense of regret behind along with your tip for their attentive service. Fantastic for special occasions or small groups out celebrating a promotion or birthday.

The food was delicious and not overly rich. Menu was very ambitious. The only reason I deducted a star is because like most storefront areas in Chicago, once it gets cold you get a blast of cold air every time the door is opened.

We love the comfortable, but hip feel of Libertad – it feels like you've stepped into a great spot in the city, but Libertad is less than a 10-minute drive from the house. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful spot like this in our backyard! Libertad is one of our go-to places when we are meeting up with friends or need a nice dinner out with the family. The starter soup before the meal is always something warm and savory - Saturday night it was a split pea; we also love the black bean soup. We certainly have our go to dishes that include: the carne asada and calabaza (roasted acron squash filled with a mushroom risotto) and the chipotle humus, but always add in a few other dishes to mix it up. Service is always to notch and the staff superb. They also do a great brunch on Sundays!

First time. Didn't know what to expect. Dishes were well designed. Flavor combinations were creative, but not out there. Cocktails quality. Definitely returning.

Another stellar brunch. Everyone’s dishes were well executed and very tasty. There is not a weak item on the menu. Everything is so good. It’s also one of very few restaurants that actually serve good coffee. The breakfast burrito is awesome, and the sauce it comes with is really outstanding. They should bottle it. My favorite restaurant.

Libertad is a destination restaurant. Get in your car and go. The food is amazing. Small plates to share. Don’t miss the risotto served in an acorn squash and the asada. You will not be disappointed traveling to Libertad

Libertad has outstanding food. Their menu is small with three categories and only 15 options, and then a dessert menu of three possible choices - but each is dlelicious and we treat it like a small plates place where we all shared. Very pleasant atmsphere, great service. We had the Pear salad, the stiffed poblano pepper, the stuffed acorn squash, the roast chiclen and the carne asada - and then got one of each dessert. Chocolate cake, creme brulee, salt caramel cheesecake. ALl outstanding. They also have a nice bar and plenty of cocktails and a wine list or beers.

I liked the food and the presentation. Small plates are perfect for the wife and I who want to try a lot of different items, but don't want to walk out stuffed.
The food was very well prepared and very tasting. Our waiter was attentive without hovering over us and he was very helpful.
The meal was expensive given the location, but there was also free parking down the block and that helped.
We will be back!

Reliably excellent food. Make sure to get a reservation because it's popular. We've been for brunch and for dinner-- both have interesting menu options. Dinner is more small plates to share.

Fabulous place. I've eaten here before and have never been disappointed. The Latin fare is atypical of most restaurants, and is both creative and flavorful. The smaller plates allow guests to experience and enjoy several different dishes without getting a "too full" feeling. This visit we sampled the Pulpo (spanish octopus and house made chorizo), which surprised us with how tender it was (we were expecting slightly chewy). Our next choice was Mar y Tierra, where the pork belly portion just melted in your mouth... All were complimented by a nice bottle of Bodegas Cepa 21 Tempranillo red wine.

we ate here before a play at the Skokie Theater. It was excellent and very convenient. The patio in back is lovely but it was too hot to eat outside that night. The food is delicious and very creative.

Went for our anniversary and sat in the back patio. Everything that we had was delicious. They started us with an amuse bouche of squash soup. We enjoyed the Pulpo (octopus- super tender), Poblano, Flautas, Barramundi and Congrejo (crab cake). We nearly licked the plate on everything. All the other dishes coming out looked great too. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. The food was also a great value. Would absolutely return again.

We found great reviews for Libertad and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The dishes offered were creative, expertly prepared, and beautifully plated. The only negative for our group was the noise level. It is a small space with an open kitchen and the music was playing loudly. Had it not been so hot outside, we probably would have asked to be seated in their small patio area. The noise level, however, was minor compared to the meal itself.

We were sat 30 minutes late for our reservation, which wasn't a problem because we were able to enjoy drinks at the bar. Our food came out, one entree at a time, and there was quite a significant amount of time between each item for the the table. The reason I was disappointed and am writing this poor review of my experience was the attitude of the kitchen and serving staff towards us at the end of the night. We were the last table in there, however we did request our check shortly after we finished our final entree and it was only 10:30pm. One of the cooks in the kitchen actually clapped when we left as if we were an inconvenience at the end of the night. We spent well over $250 for 4 people and tipped well. If we would have been sat on time, we would've been leaving the restaurant with many other patrons. Highly disappointed this trip!!!!
