Libby's Cafe & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Good food, decent service, nice interior. The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is how crazy-noisy it was. The place was full and it has a metal ceiling. Conversation was difficult for a group of cousins who wanted to catch up with each other. The food preparations are inventive and well done.
I’ve been eating at Libby’s for years, and last night was the best dinner I’ve had there. Heretofore, it’s not been my first choice, and I’ve eaten there because the location was convenient for me and my companions. Last night, however, everything was terrific ... except we were seated in the main dining room near two loud parties. The far dining room was not available for occupancy, and the waiter could not accommodate us.
The cocktail could have been stronger.
My wife and I chose Libby’s for it’s proximity to the Van Wezel Theater, as well as previous positive experience. We both enjoyed our entree, and the service was superb. The only draw back was the seating process..in an I crowded dining room the hostess took us to a table that was “stuffed” into a space that would be undesirable when the crowd arrived...(approximately 30 minutes later). When I asked for a table in a less crowded area, she took us to a table in the rear dining room. When I asked if that was the best she had to offer, she spun and walked away...there were several desirable tables in the main dining room....this left a vey sour taste in my mouth...we will need to rethink returning to Libby’s!
The spaghetti squash airline chicken salad was misrepresented and over priced. There was not any spaghettis squash in this salad, rice noodles were substituted. No concern or explanation from the waiter. A bunch of kale with some chicken and a few strands of rice noodles for $19.00, way too much money.
A spilled water was wiped to the floor, not wiped up.
Pretty disappointing first and last visit to Libby’s. Too bad, it’s a cute place, great location, etc.
Hostess tried to shoehorn 4 of us into a table meant for 2 people. we refused and went to a more suitable area. Our server had an assistant but both were hard to find. Had to ask another server for my side dish, a sharp knife to cut my steak, was not asked about a drink refill And never had our water replenished.
Will not come here again.
PS, restaurant was not crowded.
Manager just liked to walk around , did not visit any tables that I could see.
Always good. Quick service. Food is great though not fancy.
We have been here many times. This time we were there on a Saturday evening. The place was packed. And the noise level is getting a concern.
In the absence of curtains and other noise reduction it is a hindrance for a normal conversation.
I have mentioned this before but management has not yet taken any action. I do hope they see the seriousness of the issue as it might become a show stopper for many like me.
A lovely meal and we had a table for 8. While food was good, it was loud ( expected for a large popular restaurant) probably not a quiet date night location. May have been louder too because it was cold outside so beautiful front floor to ceiling windows weren’t open.
Overall restaurant was good.
We went for New Year’s Eve,the service was perfect.the food was good.however we had to shout to talk.
We had asked for a round table...there were 10 of us and we were seated at a long table.
Can’t tell how it would be on a normal night!?
I've been to Libby's several times. It's the kind of place you reserve under duress because your memory makes it better than it is. The food is staid, pre-prepared, not fresh. The service is effusive and ill-seasoned. The location is fantastic. It feels good to go there. It's just that when you're there, it's really not good.
We have found Libby's to be so inconsistent, it's frustrating. It seems that our handful of visits have vacillated between spectacular and significantly disappointing. On this visit the hostess seemed very put out that we requested a table in the back of the restaurant away from the open air front because it was chilly. She said they were expecting an entirely full house but when we finished our meal and left, the restaurant was still half-empty. Our 9 year old son ordered a kids grilled cheese with just cheese and it arrived with bacon jam (we are vegetarians). The waiter was defensive that he had put in the order correctly and it was the kitchen's fault, but he did correct it for us. The menu is inconsistent too with some of our favorites going on and off. Really miss the carrot wellington. On the plus side, the cheddar biscuits are always amazing as is the buffalo cauliflower. That's what keeps us coming back but afraid to return now after our latest experience.
Tremendous value on the early-bird menu, all three courses were superb. Only disappointment was the substitution of ingredients in my cocktail (fresh, vs. Rose's, lime juice), despite specific instructions. Let the customer know if you're making changes! Otherwise, our server, Gage, was excellent. His helpers (busboys??), however, were spacey... took three requests for bread, which Gage eventually retrieved for us. Would highly recommend Libby's.
We made a reservation with open table. Upon arriving we decided to sit at the bar to watch the game. It was extremely chilly at the corner there, so we asked the hostess if we could take our original seating. She was very kind and led us to a table. Service and food were excellent. My only complaint was that we never received our points for the reservation. I contacted the restaurant and nothing has happened. It's been almost two weeks.
This was to be a birthday celebration. We had a previous experience that was actually very good. That’s is why we chose to return. However, our experience on Thursday night didn’t meet our expectations. What they got right was that we requested a booth. They totally missed it was a special occasion. Our appetizer and soup came out at the same time. We felt like we were being rushed. The fresh fish of the day, snapper, was a bit soggy, probably from being frozen or refrigerated too long. We left feeling underwhelmed. Will probably give them another chance, but not for a special night.
A nice midweek dinner with friends. Some had comfort food, some a healthy option, so it worked well for everyone. Food was prepared well and served hot. Service was appropriately attentive for our preferred, slower pace. The restaurant was not busy so the noise level was reasonable for conversation. This restaurant allows you to bring your own wine and charges a corkage fee - which is important for some among us.
Went with my wife for lunch on a rainy Sunday. I enjoyed the great cheeseburger and she loved the short ribs Benedict. The unlimited Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar ($13) was very good as well. We decided that we really need to eat here more often. If the weather’s nice, enjoy the sidewalk dining. The bar is fun without being too crowded. Recommend.
