We went to Libations for Mother’s Day ... with a reservation. It was not busy but we had terrible service. We ordered three waters and two came. The third came 10 minutes later. The half mimosas were $9.00 and mainly OJ. No one ever came back to ask if we wanted more drinks until we were almost done with our meal. My husband’s burger was raw in the middle. Their second attempt at a burger came back after all of our plates were cleared. They did take the burger off the bill but our experience overall was terrible. Won’t be going back there!
The food was really good. Good size portion. The cauliflower and broccoli appetizer and the truffle Mac and cheese were super!
Great service and food. Was able to hold conversation without having to shout
I never thought I would have to walk out of a place on Valentines Day, but now I have. We made reservations bc it seemed to be rated well and we wanted to try something new. The only reason for the second star is because our waitress, although new to serving, she was very sweet and attentive. Our walkout was based on the bartender. We both ordered cocktails and were shocked when they came to the table half empty. I ordered a simple old fashioned and it was presented in a standard tumbler glass full of ice but the liquid stopped at exactly half of the glass. Our other cocktail was a smoked speciality and came in a martini glass. Once again it was half full which, in a martini glass, means there’s likely less liquid than even half. We asked our waitress to inquire about the shallow pours and the bartender’s response was she uses an exact 1.5oz jigger and does not put extra liquor or water in the drinks. That’s right! Our $11 and $13 cocktails had 1.5oz of liquor, a dash of bitters and flavoring and that’s it. Not to mention I’ve never heard of water being added to specialty cocktails to make them full. Her answer seemed to add up to the exact level of the drinks but I’ve never seen such a dismal pour in my life. As for food, we only made it through a calamari appetizer. It was fried too long and had a sauce that tasted like lemon hollandaise, weird. We closed out and went to Essex for a much more memorable evening.
We were the only people eating in the restaurant on Saturday night. I don’t understand why the food took so long. The restaurant was freezing we wore our coats the whole time. The chicken kale soup was the star, very delicious however the Cobb salad had Canadian bacon (yuck) the burger ordered medium rare was well done. The drinks were unimpressive. The server was not very engaged. So disappointed as it was quite a challenge to get there with all the construction in the area.
Fantastic Elk and the Service was outstanding
Not what I expected. Just a hotel restaurant - not standalone.
Enjoyed the special service and food. It's southern cooking dine to perfection.
I was VERY pleasantly surprised! My friend and I decided to come for Charlotte’s Queen’s Feast and I chose the restaurant purely based on the menu. Libations had one of the most eclectic menus for the special and I couldn’t wait to try it! When we arrived, I’m not going to lie, I was a bit put off that it was the hotel’s restaurant hahaha - but those thoughts were immediately set aside as the delicious food began to make its way out! Amazing. Everything! The service was impeccable and because it was a hotel restaurant, the atmosphere was very laid back and quiet. Our overall experience was lovely and I will absolutely be back!
I didn’t realize it was part of a hotel. However the food was good and they gave us very large portions. I would definitely recommend for everyday dining.
Super tasty food. Get the charcuterie board.
Amazing hidden gem and delicious food. Can't wait to go back!
Getting to the place was a challenge due to street construction. Service was attentive and the food was excellent.
Starters were very very good, the main dishes were probably "too much" - my mother taught me not to have in the same plate cheese and fish, otherwise the former obfuscate the latter's taste. We enjoyed the dinner and the staff did a great job. Thank you!
We enjoyed the food and the service at Libations. The Chef outdoes himself always! The best bacon cheese burger, must have flatbread, great smoke drinks as well. it's a small restaurant, tucked away in the lobby of the Doubletree hotel. I wish it had a bright neon sign on the street to let people know that they were there!!!
Not optimal for a quick bite for lunch. Libations is understaffed, but once you get your food I have no complaints.
Food was prepared very well even tho it was a slow tuesday night. The Wagyu beef burger was one of the best burgers ive ever had and the chicken gnochi soup was incredible. Very small restaurant inside the double tree so doesnt look too impressive but it was a pleasant suprise.
Libations is a hidden gem. The food was absolutely amazing. Dominique gave us great service as well!
Food was excellent - highly recommend the beef carpaccio. It was nice and quiet with nice music playing in the background.
Love the very interesting menu and how well the food was prepared. An incredible surprise to find this creativity in a menu at a restaurant in a hotel.
The food was presented wonderfully and lots of good menu options
The appetizers were delicious. The drinks was fantastic and fun.
However, the main course was a different story. While my food was almost great, I had my broccoli burnt to a crisp and all three of our burger orders were over done and somewhat charred.
The chocolate cake tasted was not homemade and tasted like plastic. The waitress and the bar maid who swiped my card to pay the bill tricked us and took more than they were supposed to take although the tip was 19.99 percent. I used the voucher I had and when they saw that they must have decided to find a creative way to get more cash from us although our bill was almost $200.00 and we tipped well. When we called the manager the next day they had actually altered the check to facilitate the stealing. Awaiting refund to my credit card.
We stopped in for cocktails and appetizers and found it to be very enjoyable. Luckily for us, it happened to be very quiet. So we took a nice corner table and had a great server. We took our time enjoying a few cocktails, calamari and the scallops and jam appetizer. I have no idea if this place is usually this empty. Initially we were not even sure they were opened because we didn’t see a hostess or server. And no one else came into dine when we were there, but to be fair, it was rather late. I would return again.
Service very slow and irradict. Appetizer order missed and when mentioned, brought after main course served. Small plate ordered as main course originally brought with soups. Had to request more water after 10 minutes of waiting for someone to notice. Had to request check after 20 minutes of waiting. Food quality fairly good.
Had a fantastic time! From start to finish. Angelina was an amazing bartender. The olive and cherry pepper brined martini was to die for. A spur of the moment date night that turned into a very pleasurable, tasty, fun experience! Will definitely return & spread the love!
The calamari was very good but everything else was just mediocre
The food was awful. We tried four different entrees; even a hamburger. The server was great.
Our waitress was great! Food had class. The chef really showed his talent.
A very good restaurant. Has the best charcuterie plate in charlotte. seating is comfortable, menu is nice. would recommend.
The drop biscuits with ham and jalapeño butter were very tasty but overpriced for what they were.
It was not busy at all and service was slow. I thought they did it a certain style like let people enjoy the appetizer, entree and stuff in a certain time frame but the time was way too long. My cousin eats here for lunch with his coworkers from BOA and said they are pretty slow as well. The food was fine I came during restaurant week. So with the three course 35 dollar meal, one potato chip appetizer and a cocktail it was around 70 bucks. If it wasn't for restaurant week I'd probably be more upset but it was just ok.
Not a good experience, seem like we were waiting on our waitress alot due to a bigger party next to us. My husband and I were on our date night, there for the 1st time and was totally disappointed. The food was cold and after sending back the 1st plate, and getting a hot microwaved plate back it was really no need in doing anything else. We left straight from the restaurant to get food because we were still hungry, and he went to Caribbean Hut in the university area and I went to taco bell...wayyyy betterr
Amazing food - everything was extremely flavorful and creative. Killer Wagyu burger that is beyond gourmet. I would highly recommend this place, we will be back and we love 80+ miles away. Thank you!
we went for restaurant week and had a lovely meal. Great portion sizes, filling, nicely plated with decent waitstaff. IT was very quiet and not packed.
Our server Angelina was exemplary!!! Her personal care of our experience is to be commended. She made sure our drinks and food came to our table perfectly. Our compliments to the chef as well! Neither of us tasted anything that was not pleasing to our palate.
The food was tasty and the serving size was excellent. Service was somewhat slow.
This resturant is in a hotel. This usually turns me away, but I heard it was good, so I gave it a try.
Good food, nice setting, fair pricing
Surprisingly good food at, lets face it, a typical low budget City hotel. Check it out good value, good no very good food and good friendly informal service.
We went for restaurant week. Food was delicious but the service was so poor as they were short staffed. At one point it took about 15 minutes to get 1 drink and the server said its because the bartender is washing the glasses. Weird....
To be fair, I can't write about the food because the service was so bad that, after being literally left alone (we were there for lunch on a Sunday and there was not a single other person in the entire restaurant. I am not exaggerating, we were entirely alone, no other customers and certainly no one from the restaurant) for 26 minutes we got up and left. At that point, we had to go ask someone who works at the hotel lobby (its a hotel restaurant) to get some help and when we were leaving someone was coming over with water. Needless to say, we were not impressed.
