I have been to Liam's twice before 12/30 & because I really liked it I made reservations for dinner to celebrate my retirement. Upon arriving we found out that Liam's was closing for good after New Yrs Eve dinner. Our dinner was very good but some of the beer choices were limited.
The waitress was attentive but talked in a loud voice describing how employees were notified of their termination the day before. She, understandably, sounded angry.
The reason I checked the box "would not recommend to anyone" was because of this sad news.
Sad they are closing! All day HH is a great bargain.
Met friends for dinner. Food was good, the wait service was very good and attentive. Took a little longer than I would've thought for food to arrive considering place was not that busy. They could update their beer options, but overall all of us found things we enjoyed and it was a good experience.
Had a get together with our family and chose Liam's because of the quality of their food and that they took reservations.
We were seated right at our reservation time, and the service was very attentive, without being intrusive.
The only downside was that due to colder than normal outside temperatures the restaurant was colder than needed to be comfortable.
Our server worked miracles with our party of 12, which included 6 teenagers, and occurred just as the Sounders won the Championship match. What a fun night. Every dish came on time, was delicious and worked with the bottles of wine she suggested. All of the adults in our group consider themselves "foodies" and not a single one of us raved about the meal and not a one had a shred of criticism. Thank you Liam's!
Great food. I had the mushroom tart, and it was delicious. My friend had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. She thought it was perfect for the graySeattle day. Our server was wonderful - he was attentive but didn't rush us. We enjoyed our time there immensely.
Just wonder what happened to the 4th half slice of French toast. Excellent however.
Our meal rarely disappoints at Liam's, and the service is usually attentive but not obtrusive. We arrived unexpectedly early for our reservation on a busy night, and the hostess said she'd find a way to seat us anyway, which she did. The ambiance is warm and friendly, comfortably upscale, and the food is the same. Think: mussels in a warm, slightly creamy tomato viniagrette, Beecher's Mac and Cheese with kale and Mama Lil's peppers, seasoned roasted broccoli, and so on.
Great place to gather with a group of friends. Several delightful menu items.
Wonderful food, too bad they were out of the meatballs that evening, I wanted to try those too! Excellent service.
You let us enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace, and did not rush us out as we sat and talked for several hours...thank you!
we had the Beechers mac n cheese, it was good but a little overcooked and dry, not very saucy.
Our service during a business lunch was amazing. Very warm, friendly, and relaxing.
We have been to Liam's several times in the past and really enjoyed the food and experience, but the wait person(female) was so incredibly rude that the entire experience was ruined. It was a Thursday 5:45 reservation. The restaurant was not crowded. Once we declined to order a drink the waitperson became belligerent. She did not bring us more water and towards the end of our meal took the half bottle of water away from our table. Incredible. Because of her I will not be back.
I also did not leave a tip for this reason and noted her rudeness on my receipt.
Food good, service slow, always has been. Restaurant was less than half full, kitchen just can't get food out very fast.
Really disappointed. I had high expectations, as I went to their sister restaurant Bennett's in Mercer Island last year and it was excellent. Food at Liam's was very mixed and nothing special. Mushroom tart appetizer was the best item in the meal. Sausage pasta dish was WAY too spicy (and I like spicy food) ... seems like the chef dumped a tablespoon of red pepper flakes in it -- and the pasta was undercooked to the point of being almost crunchy. Broccoli side was overcooked and mushy ... and WAY oversalted. Mac & Cheese was fine -- but by no means "worlds best" as they claim -- and the entree portion was too small for teenage son. The hot chocolate cake was flavorful, but arrived cold -- not even lukewarm.
Service was really weak. Brand new waitress. who kept reminding us of this fact, didn't know the menu (food or drink), needed to be asked multiple times to bring drinks, bread, cutlery, etc. and spent most of her time hovering over the cash register instead of serving.
Restaurant was half full. I suspect they will need to step things up big time in order to survive in the U-Village.
We were able to sit a LONG time to catch up with friends, etc. The service was SUPER slow. I don't know if that is because they were giving us our space or just because they were slow. It seemed really slow though. It gave us time to remark on the pricing of the food -- which was high. It was a lot of money to pay for food that was only alright.
We visited for happy hour and were very pleased with both the food and drinks. We'll definitely go again!
Booked through OT. Liams was closed. Wish we would have known.
I ordered the roasted chicken which came with quinoa. The waitress told me they were out of quinoa; would polenta be OK as a substitute? It was all delicious.
This is an all time favorite. It consistently has a wonderful, interesting menu, friendly professional service, and a fun ambience.
This is the fourth time we've been in town and the second time we went to Liam's. The food was really good (especially the sliders and the mushroom tart). It wasn't too crowded on a Friday night and our waiter was really nice.
The decor was beautiful but the prices were too high for mediocre food.
Great wait staff service.
This is usually a dependable, good restaurant, but our experience this time was disappointing. We ordered Cold Stone Fruit Soup expecting a refreshing summer soup. This dish was a thick purée of unidentifiable food. It tasted like over vinegared catsup--inedible. We also ordered mussels that were fresh and delicious but had a very spicy broth that was too spicy to "sop up". So, we will try again, but Liam's struck out this time. In all fairness, when we complained about the soup it was removed from our tab.
Pros: Delicious, delicious food. Pecan sticky bun shared by the table had a wonderful caramel-crispy edge while soft and cinnamony inside. I had requested kale added to my spicy sausage benedict, served on a biscuit, and it was perfect. My husband loved his french toast, my friend enjoyed her hash - everyone was delighted by the food. And we do enjoy sitting in the indoor "porch" area; feels like someone's cozy backyard. Our server was friendly and pleasant, when she was present.
Cons: Service was S-l-o-w. We sat at 2p, our drink order was taken at 2:15p, and our food order was taken at 2:25p. Our server disappeared for great lengths of time, so coffee and water were not refilled in a timely fashion. (She got smart about the water and finally brought us a carafe for the table - 45 minutes after we'd been seated). We had to get up to find her to ask for the bill. Never at any time was there any mention of the wait. Note to server: better to acknowledge the wait and your absence and apologize than to let diners think you're either clueless, inconsiderate, or both. Most diners will cut a server slack if there is an apology for an inconvenience or oversight .
Verdict: We'll go again (this wasn't our first time) because the food is delicious, but it's still not our first choice since the service at brunch has been unpredictable: sometimes great, sometimes not so much. Hard to enjoy one's food with a bad taste in one's mouth.
Great atmosphere, very classy
Liam's is a great lunch spot in U Village. The food is great (I recommend the crispy chicken breast sandwich); the service is professional; the atmosphere is excellent for good conversation; the parking is free and you don't have to endure entering the downtown core. Liam's is a "go-to" spot for lunch.
We had a table of 6 and I believe most felt the food was decent, although overpriced for what they got. I simply asked for salmon and broccoli with no garlic. I couldn't get the broccoli without garlic because 'garlic powder was already added to all of the broccoli'. I get that the kitchen prepares ingredients ahead of time, but didn't seem too hard to cook up some plain broccoli. This meal was $28 before tip which was way overpriced. The broccoli came drenched in garlic, so all I could eat was the salmon.
Overall the service was slow, took a long time to get our order in, get our food and then get our check.
Great food, easy to park because of location in U Village. The kitchen was a little slow and our server was very laid back, almost too much so. Overall, I would go again.
Beecher's Cheese galore. Nice selection of items on menu.
Felt the service was a little slow. We were seated right away, but everything was in slow motion from getting water to ordering our bottle of wine. The waitress brought the wine glasses but no wine. It came 15 minutes later. Appetizers showed up before beverages.
Chose this placed based on Yelp reviews. Food was ok, not bad but didn't blow me away either. I ordered the tomato soup and grilled cheese. Over priced but I would expect that at U village.
Thanks to the gal who set up two tables together for us in the "outdoor" area. She said they don't normally do that for just 5 people, but she did for us, much appreciated.
Service was fantastic and our waiter knew every detail on the menu and very helpful with gluten free solutions.
ok for dinner, not a great happy hour
good quality ingredients but could have used some seasoning, a bit on the bland side - I had the halibut with risotto
This is probably the nicest place in U-Village, and the food is really good. It is a good replacement for the breakfast place Mom's that closed sometime in the 90's, although more expensive.
Nice atmosphere and pleasant personnel. The crispy chicken sandwich was good as was the chicken Caesar salad. The turkey sandwich was underwhelming, served on a marginal handburger bun - the bread needs to be improved immediately.
Always get the meatball appetizer! Love the food and the wine tasting too!
