LG's Prime Steakhouse - Palm Springs Ratings and Reviews
i will not be back. my wife and i ordered a N.Y Strip. it was the full vein end. no white table cloth restuarant serves that piece of meat as it has a vein running through the middle of it and is not edible. i registered a complaint with out server and he sent over the Mgr. he said that their butcher had been there for years and was suprised that it happened. no sorry, no taking money off the bill, nothing, basically too bad.
Btw, the steak portion that was edilbe was not tender either.
With much competition for title of Best Steakhouse in Palm Springs - I think LG's takes the title. Their table side Caesar Salad is delicious. Our filets were cooked as ordered and fork tender with a delicious flavor due to the dry aging. Two in our party ordered the restaurant week specials which gave generous portions at a savings. Small sides were small - don't order expecting to share. My creamed spinach was too runny and required a spoon for eating. Wine list is impressive. We've dined at Chop House and Ruth's Chris and chose LG's for a 31st anniversary dinner to satisfy the carnivore in each of us! LG's also gave us a complimentary chocolate cake to mark the occasion. They are our first choice for steaks.
We went to LG's on Friday night. I ordered a Filet med rare and it came out well done so I sent it back 10 minutes later server brought me a rare steak, it was very cold and hardly seared. By this point my family was almost done with their dinner but the server insisted to let them try one more time. Manager brought it back and it was still rare!! We go to the LG's in LaQuinta every time we come to the desert and have always had a great experience but the Palm Springs location is just horrible. Very disappointing.
Enjoyed our dinner here on our vacation in Palm Springs. We chose this place since my husband wanted to have the big porterhouse steak he had many many years ago. He enjoyed the steak but I think in his mind he remembered it a little more fondly. My daughter and husband had the caesar salad, they thought it was good but not great. I had the restaurant week menu, my meal was delicious, the only disappointing part was the trio of sorbet. Wow not sure if that is made in house or if it was bought, it did not taste very good at all. There is very little desserts on menu, if this was a taste of one of them....please source out a better vendor. Other than the dessert everything was tasty.
My wife ordered the prix fixe meal, largely because of the carrot cake dessert. When the server advised they had run out, he tried to substitute a dessert of HIS choice. I told him to bring the dessert cart. When my wife selected the apple pie, he said there would be an extra charge and asked if that would be alright. I said absolutely not, and asked to see the manager. The server disappeared for 15 minutes and when he reappeared advised that the manager had said substituting the apple pie for the sold out carrot cake was ok. No apology for arguing, upsetting us, nothing. Manager never showed his face. I won't be back.
We were in PS for a getaway bday weekend w the whole 9. We stayed at a resort within walking distance of LGs and made reservations based on everyone's recs. Meal was so divine from the corn cut off the cob to my enormous bone-in ribeye. Running w Ruth's Chris. You couldn't beat the sweet little booth we were put in and the romantic vibe the whole place had. The service wasn't as great as I would have liked; my server was a bit condescending (turning the menu in my hands back to the wine by the glass, although I was looking for the bottle... warning me about the size of my steak) Just give me what I want! Don't judge. Lastly, no acknowledgement of my birthday even though I mentioned it on OT.. My steak completely made up for it, however.
The quality was excellent we Shared the Crab cake appetizer and the wedge salad along with a side o creamed spinach with our entrée We both had the 140z filet It was wow!!! cooked perfect My only complaint would be the service could have been more attentive When you are paying high end price's they should be on it and our waiter seemed to be a little out of it or not wanting to be there? The restaurant was not busy for a Sunday Night Maybe he was bored? Where as the waiter in another section was giving noticeably excellent service.
LG's has been one of my favorite special occasion restaurants for quite some time and still is. We went for Mother's Day and as usual the food was great.
We made reservations and was able to be seated before our scheduled time. The hostess was very friendly. The only down side this time was the fact that is took a little longer than usual to receive our food. We ordered appetizers thru to dessert. We were there for 3 hours which I feel is much too long.
This is the one place we have to visit each time we come to Palm Springs. The age dryed beef is absolutely incredible as is the prime rib (tender with fantastic marbling and flavor). We have also gone there just for their ceasar salad for two made table side. I have tried to mimic the recipe at home to no avail. Outside seating is available and perfect in the evening for people watching on the strip. This is our favorite restaurant in the foodie paradise of Palm Springs!
Recommended by a friend for their steaks and they did not disappoint. Love the patio. They managed to create a fine dining experience outside white linen and all. They take reservations which is a huge plus if you have a large group. A little expensive but worth every penny.
Whenever in the desert, we always leave a night and-an empty stomach to fill up on the consistent and scrumptious steaks and sides offered at LG's. We never leave without enough leftovers to remind us of our great meal the following day as we bring home our "doggie bag". Great meal and fun dining
My experience at LG's Prime Steakhouse, can be summed up with one ugly word,...DISCRIMINATION!!
I am VERY upset, and considering legal action!
I was greeted by a rather haggard looking woman in a yellow short sleeved blouse, with skulls all over it. She said that there was a dress code, and that I could not dine there, in a sleeveless shirt. As she spoke, I noticed a woman in a sleeves top! I was wearing fitted jeans, Stacy Adams Boots, and a Versace sleeveless shirt...dressed for the heat, but by no means inappropriate.
I went to change, then returned. Once seated, near the rest rooms, I saw a parade of men in gym shorts, sneakers, and baseball caps! Which are pretty much the standard, in Palm Springs, UNLESS you happen to be BLACK!
I ordered L.G.'s Jewel - their porterhouse steak. For the price (over $50.00) it should have been perfect, but was just good, My wife had the 8oz filet. Again good, but not what one would expect from an expensive steakhouse. We've been here before, but this will be out last visit. There are just too many other area restaurants that are a better value.
We were very disappointed in the quality of the steaks. My son had the bone in Rib eye and we had Filets.I expected my knife to slide through my steak but it took a quite a bit i of sawing. My son said his rib eye Wasn,t so great either.Have had better from costco.
On vacation in Palm Springs, craving a steak, thought this would be a great choice. Overall the food was decent, There was extremely good and so-so. The service on the other hand....Terrible. Our table-side Caesar was prepared by a supervisor or manager, and he was great , as were the bussers. The biggest let down was our server. No explanation of anything, no personality, and literally it took him 20 minutes to approach our table. The restaurant did not seem busy as our reservation was for 8 pm, and we saw him a total of 2 times the entire meal. It was so bad, we would not go back. For the prices and ambiance you expect great food and service, They did not deliver on the service aspect.
I have been to all their locations over the years. It had been awhile since we have been to the Palm Springs location and this would be the last. We ordered a $100 2008 Cab from their fairly expensive wine list and they brought the 2010 ignoring the comment when I noted it.
Had dinner at LG's last week in Palm Springs. Made a resy for 5:30pm. They don't get busy during the week until around 7pm as we found out. The shrimp cocktail was good. Four very large and meaty shrimp. However, the shrimp were served warm, which I don't like. It may have been that they just didn't chill them long enough, as the holder was ice packed.
Steaks were very good. The au gratin potatoes, lacked any flavor whatsoever. The caesar salad made table side was a neat treat and very good. However way too much Parmesan cheese. We hadn't been to LG's before so we wanted to try it. It was worth a visit but not a repeat trip.
Last time I went to LGs I had the best steak in my life. At over $50 for the steak alone, it was worth it. This time, my steak was merely ok— not good for a steak that was over $50. But more than that, everything was ridiculously expensive. I'll pay for quality, especially for great steak and cocktails, but I felt like I was getting nickel and dime'd for everything. Bottom line, the steak was fine, but definitely not worth the outrageous prices.
Very large portions. My husband and I had the kabobs. We could have shared one plate and still had leftovers. Our waiter spoke with a very strong accent that made it difficult for us to understand him so in our awkwardness I feel we did not get the best service. However, then I looked around at the other waiters and realized that they weren't necessarily any better. And no manager presence in the place. It was a Tuesday, but seriously, we get better service at the Red Lobster down the street. We don't care bout the money... Only that the food is good and the service is genuine.
We have been to LG's serveral times... did not feel this experience was up to prior standards. My Ribeye steak, which I have had several times before, seemed 'downsized' and of lesser quality. While good, it was not as I had expected. The support staff (bussers) were too visible, noisy, bumped my chair frequently when resetting and serving adjacent tables and dropped trays, glasses and other items due their haste. They need to SLOW DOWN and focus on guests - not the rapid resetting of tables. I also like more intereaction with my 'waiter' beyond giving an order and getting th bill. Where was he during the meal?
This was our third visit to the Steakhouse and again the food was delicious and people watching wonderful. Staff was accommodating when we asked for the heat lamp to be turned on and the night was another enjoyable evening of patio dining and people watching
