LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
Whenever we are in the La Quinta/Indian Wells area, we try to have dinner at LG's. We were there for dinner Friday after Thanksgiving this time. Easy to get a reservation (front dining room is where it's more fun and better for people-watching; back dining rooms are quieter and more isolated). Very good food and big portions, though their ribeye is often more marbled (read: fatty with a fair amount of gristle) than I prefer. Joe is one of the most attentive, energetic, aims-to-please servers I've ever had. We really enjoy LG's during the Indian Wells pro tennis tournament time because a lot of players go there. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely dinner at LG’s: an old-school steak restaurant where they still make Caesar salads tableside—and they’re delicious, by the way. A myriad of choices for steaks, the seafood is good as well. Deep wine list, too. The service was impeccable. We were served by a new trainee but she did a fabulous job and was constantly supervised by a longtime employee. It’s obvious that service is extremely important at LGs.
We’ve eaten in many restaurants in the Palm Desert area over the past four years. By far this was the most disappointing experience of them all. First the service was inattentive, especially for a slow night. We had to remind the server that we ordered a bottle of wine. It didn’t come until after our entree’s arrived. The Caprese Salad “special” featured mushy, tasteless tomatoes. The made at table side “Caesar Salad” was a major disappointment. The croutons were stale and flavorless, the Parmesan cheese came out of a Kraft canister and the server that prepared this “Caesar from scratch” had zero personality. Lastly, the Apple pie I ordered for dessert had a wimpy soggy crust. LG’s is over rated and over priced!
I was very disappointed. I went there years ago and couldn't wait to go back but I was really disappointed. the salad came before the appetizer, the steaks were marginal, the noise was deafening. the waiter recommended a wine that wasn't very good. I feel like I was rushed out of there. after they cleared the table and left our check they pretty much forgot about us. I won't be going back. at those prices I won't be giving them a third chance.
LG was a favorite, though this most recent dining experience may be our last. Two of our steak orders were specified as "medium". One was rare, one was well done. That there was anything but an acknowledgement and correction, is a last straw for us. Ultimately, a gentleman in a shirt/tie came to the table to retrieve the plates and stop the back and forth with the waiter. Oh, and their fryer was broken, so no fried food was available. We happen to enjoy the calamari, and the basket fries.
Awesome across the board. We had the LG T-Bone, charred med rare. We also had Cesar salad prepared at the table and asked the waiter to see if kitchen would add some blue cheese and truffle oil to the mac n cheese. They did everything perfect and although it was somewhat pricey, it was worth it.
Two meals for the price of one ! That's an everyday occurrence for us whenever we dine at LG's.
Share the Shrimp Cocktail [ always large ] , Share a 30 oz . Bone in Rib Eye with Roasted Potatoes and Carmelized Onions and you will take home enough for a wonderful dinner the next night. Just add a salad and corn on the cob and the dinner is complete. There is no better steak house in the Palm Springs area than LG's.
Not impressed with the food, especially in a high end restaurant. Ordered prime rib and it wasn't hot enough. Grilled shrimp had no flavor. Seasoned green beans were boring and lacked seasoning. I could get better onion soup at Outback. We won't be going back there.
As a Longtime customer of LG's , I was disappointed with the dinner we had on Sept 30, 2017. I had 3 guests, One had steak undercooked which had to be returned for re cooking, another had a beet salad with only one slice of beet in the salad.
Service was good as usual, but I had not experienced the food prep problems before.
