LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
We had a lovely dinner at LG’s: an old-school steak restaurant where they still make Caesar salads tableside—and they’re delicious, by the way. A myriad of choices for steaks, the seafood is good as well. Deep wine list, too. The service was impeccable. We were served by a new trainee but she did a fabulous job and was constantly supervised by a longtime employee. It’s obvious that service is extremely important at LGs.
We’ve eaten in many restaurants in the Palm Desert area over the past four years. By far this was the most disappointing experience of them all. First the service was inattentive, especially for a slow night. We had to remind the server that we ordered a bottle of wine. It didn’t come until after our entree’s arrived. The Caprese Salad “special” featured mushy, tasteless tomatoes. The made at table side “Caesar Salad” was a major disappointment. The croutons were stale and flavorless, the Parmesan cheese came out of a Kraft canister and the server that prepared this “Caesar from scratch” had zero personality. Lastly, the Apple pie I ordered for dessert had a wimpy soggy crust. LG’s is over rated and over priced!
I was very disappointed. I went there years ago and couldn't wait to go back but I was really disappointed. the salad came before the appetizer, the steaks were marginal, the noise was deafening. the waiter recommended a wine that wasn't very good. I feel like I was rushed out of there. after they cleared the table and left our check they pretty much forgot about us. I won't be going back. at those prices I won't be giving them a third chance.
LG was a favorite, though this most recent dining experience may be our last. Two of our steak orders were specified as "medium". One was rare, one was well done. That there was anything but an acknowledgement and correction, is a last straw for us. Ultimately, a gentleman in a shirt/tie came to the table to retrieve the plates and stop the back and forth with the waiter. Oh, and their fryer was broken, so no fried food was available. We happen to enjoy the calamari, and the basket fries.
Awesome across the board. We had the LG T-Bone, charred med rare. We also had Cesar salad prepared at the table and asked the waiter to see if kitchen would add some blue cheese and truffle oil to the mac n cheese. They did everything perfect and although it was somewhat pricey, it was worth it.
Two meals for the price of one ! That's an everyday occurrence for us whenever we dine at LG's.
Share the Shrimp Cocktail [ always large ] , Share a 30 oz . Bone in Rib Eye with Roasted Potatoes and Carmelized Onions and you will take home enough for a wonderful dinner the next night. Just add a salad and corn on the cob and the dinner is complete. There is no better steak house in the Palm Springs area than LG's.
Not impressed with the food, especially in a high end restaurant. Ordered prime rib and it wasn't hot enough. Grilled shrimp had no flavor. Seasoned green beans were boring and lacked seasoning. I could get better onion soup at Outback. We won't be going back there.
As a Longtime customer of LG's , I was disappointed with the dinner we had on Sept 30, 2017. I had 3 guests, One had steak undercooked which had to be returned for re cooking, another had a beet salad with only one slice of beet in the salad.
Service was good as usual, but I had not experienced the food prep problems before.
We celebrated my wife birthday at LG's on a Sunday evening. As usual we had an excellent meal meal. My wife had the salmon and I had the small filet mignon, each prepared to perfection. Our waiter who had served us before was excellent. We had good luck when he suggested that we take advantage of the summer wine sale...we had a very nice bottle of wine. We celebrated the birthday with an excellent chocolate cake. It was a very nice evening.
We have always enjoyed LGs but Saturday evening the food was just ok. We split the beet salad and it was bland. Ordered mushrooms, which seemed dry, not a lot of flavor. My husband enjoyed his steak. I ordered filet with prawns.....steak was not medium and prawns a little dry. We did have great service with the older gentleman who waited our table.
We went on a Monday evening, and the restaurant was virtually empty. The decor is a little clubby. If you have a hankerin' for meat, this is a place to go. But, it comes at a price. Everything is a la carte, and everything is pretty expensive. The meats were done perfectly to our taste (especially my rack of lamb), the sides quite tasty, and the deserts over the top. The wine list is good, but we brought our own wine that had a little more age on it than those on the list. We liked it.
One of the best places for service I've ever been to. Large servings of very high-quality steak. Two of our party of six were late and the restaurant had no problem serving four of us first and then two quickly when they arrived. Highly recommended for food and service
Dinner at LG's was outstanding! We had eaten at a different LG's several years ago and were not impressed at all. It was trying to be an upscale steak house, but the quality of the food, service, ambiance, and value were very disappointing. This experience couldn't have been more different! Service was excellent as was the caesar salad, ribeye, and scalloped potatoes with sauteed onions! I'm a big fan of Ruth's Chris, Mastro's, and Flemings - this experience has inspired me to add LG's into the rotation. We will definitely be returning on the next visit to the desert.
Another fabulous dinner at LG's - delicious food, great service. The steaks are better than anyone else in the Palm Desert/Springs area, and we should know since we have tried them all.
They just have more flavor, more sizzle. Lobster tail also very excellent here, two sizes. And the crab legs as well (and I am fussy about crab legs) come pre-cracked but juicy and meaty, not dried out. A beautiful restaurant with a full bar and lots of choices. Definitely highly recommend the experience of dining here!
We've driven by LG's a million times and never stopped in. So when we were looking for someplace special and I asked my wife what she wanted, she said "Meat!" So, I Open Tabled a table for two. Great place, awesome service, extensive wine list and their Summer Value meal had great selections.
