LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
Ordered the Porterhouse to share and it was quite grisly. The assistant to waiter came to cut meat from the bone, he tried cutting across the bone!! We asked him to leave it. We were brought hot smaller than salad plate to put our steak and vegetables on. We asked for larger plates, which they brought and suggested next time we ask for the larger plates when ordering!!!
Most surprising was the amazing competency of the wait staff. They were all over us and in a good way! The table side Ceasar salad was excellent and the steaks were indeed Prime and wonderfully prepared. The ambiance is a bit old style steakhouse though the tables and booths are roomy and you don't feel like there are other diners in your space. Really enjoyed the restaurant and will return when next in La Quinta.
I brought some clients for dinner and the staff was very attentive without getting in the way. They help make our dinner experience wonderful. You know you are having a good time when you arrive at 7 pm and then realize it is almost 10 when you leave. Our steaks were fantastic by the way.
They do a Cesar salad table side and make the dressing fresh. Nice feature. I can recommend the filet ordered medium rare. Mine was perfectly prepared and was enjoyed with a baked potato al a carte. Perfect meal and superb service. A little pricey but great service so worth it to me!
We have eaten at LG's many times. It is one of our favorites in the desert. The other night though far surpassed any other night. The food was fantastic. I ate every bit of my steak and so did my husband. My parents were with us and both their dishes were superb. Clean plates all around. Service was wonderful as usual. Best Caesar Salad Ever!!!
Not up to the standards of a good steakhouse -- Oyster on half shell were stale and returned -- one steak was excellent, one was OK and one was obviously not prime -- it was grissly and tough. ----the service was so poor that we requested and received a new waiter -- the old one never came to our table after three requests --- for the prices of an expensive restaurant they fell down badly
This is a good (not great) steak house with a good wine list and broad enough menu for those who are not steak dinners.
There are some nice booths around the perimeter of the restaurant or table seating in the middle.
It can be a bit noisy because the bar area is not separate from the restaurant and if there is a sports event on TV, the noise fills the restaurant.
To me, primary issue is pricing ... premium pricing for good (but not great) food is not justified.
OK for an occasional dinner with friends knowing that prices are high for experience that is not that overall impressive. If I had gone to Maestro in Palm Desert, would have paid a bit more for a much better dinner.
The evening started out great but then... we had the table-side prepared Caesar salad. It was very good but then, we were only 1/2 through with it and they came out with our entrées... weird. We went ahead and took it but we should have sent it back. The steaks were over cooked and so was the lobster but the brussel sprouts and potatoes were under cooked. We had taken a bottle of wine, which we were prepared to pay a corkage. Then we ordered another bottle. The waiter brought it out when we were finished with our dinner. We refused the bottle but then we were still charged corkage for our wine. We talked with the manager, he was very nice and apologized and did remove the corkage and our salads from the bill. Unfortunately the bill was still $350. and we were rushed with our dinner which wasn't great.
The wedge salad never disappoints! Always look forward to this salad treat when in the La Quinta area.
There was more pressure to pay our bill on a Sunday night before we were even ready to do so. We really wanted to enjoy a relaxing dinner, and while our own server was excellent, the head of wait staff continued to place unnecessary pressure on us- there were a bunch of open and available tables too! Truly disappointing in that regard.
