LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
Perfection personified. Meal, service, crowd.
There isn't a better filet mignon served anywhere and we have tried them all (RUTHS, Mastros, Mortons, Flemings)
We don't eat meat that often but if there's a birthday, anniversary or any special occasion, LGS is the reservation we grab. The filet quality of beef is magnificent and it will slice with a butter knife.
Very overrated and extremely dated, both decor & music. The raw bar tower featured a frozen tuna and avocado that was inedible. Our steak was well prepared and cooked to our liking, but the side chimichuri sauce was underwhelming. Joanie, our waitress, was terrific.
We have been to LG's several times now. It has just about everything you would want in a steakhouse. We usually sit in the bar (as we did this time) and Jeff the bartender/server always takes excellent care of us. He offers helpful and candid responses to questions around the food. For wine drinkers, they have a summer special where certain wines are available for 50% off, so there are some good deals to be had. Though I gave 5 stars for Value, it is a bit pricey but should not surprise anyone who has been to nice steakhouses.
My husband and I went to dinner for his birthday dinner. We had ice cold martinis, amazing potato appitizer with Parmesan and Rosemary. We then enjoying clams and the best shrimp cocktail I ever had! We shared a delicious 14 oz steak and a side of Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful! We can't wait to go back!
My wife and I were able to get reservations @ 6:45 pm reservations within 3-4 hrs before, we showed up 1/2 an hour early expecting to wait @ the bar until our reservation time- we were sat right away- extremely accommodating. When we walked in we were asked table or booth, were able to get a booth, the main dining room was somewhat noisy and we were taken to a an adjoining room where the noise level was so much more bearable :) My wife forgot her reading glasses in the car and I was on my way to retrieve them when our waiter-Armando inquired if there was anything he could help with, when I informed him I was just going for the reading glasses he informed me he would obtain a pair!!!! and sure enough he did!!!! Talk about service!!!! -Extra ordinary- Above and Beyond. Armando and his helper ( unfortunately I am not sure of his name :( I think Jesus- we were there on Sat, 6/10/17 6:45 pm) their service was impeccable and attentive. Armando was extremely helpful in the selection of the wine list. The food was amazing!! We had the shrimp & the oysters-Delicious. The french onion soup- Ever so tasty-The wedge salad- refreshing. My wife had the porterhouse- med-rare- it was slightly cooked well on the outer edges- but that is also when you can tell the excellent quality of the beef- if it is still delicious if slightly more cooked than you prefer-the deeper areas of the steak were nicely red and warm :); the mac & cheese heavenly and the creamed spinach- creamy :). I had the pork chop-thick and juicy. We have also been @ the Palm Springs location for some reason it did not feel as welcoming I can't put my finger on what it was but La Quinta location will definitely be our to go to location or it will simply have to wait.
Server did not seem to want to be there and kind of hung out watching us. Could it have been because we are young? I'm not so sure but we felt rushed and a little unwanted. The busser was actually a lot nicer than our server. Food was good, the cucumber soup we had was odd. Our drinks were great, but I don't know if I'll be back.
Ordered the Porterhouse to share and it was quite grisly. The assistant to waiter came to cut meat from the bone, he tried cutting across the bone!! We asked him to leave it. We were brought hot smaller than salad plate to put our steak and vegetables on. We asked for larger plates, which they brought and suggested next time we ask for the larger plates when ordering!!!
Most surprising was the amazing competency of the wait staff. They were all over us and in a good way! The table side Ceasar salad was excellent and the steaks were indeed Prime and wonderfully prepared. The ambiance is a bit old style steakhouse though the tables and booths are roomy and you don't feel like there are other diners in your space. Really enjoyed the restaurant and will return when next in La Quinta.
I brought some clients for dinner and the staff was very attentive without getting in the way. They help make our dinner experience wonderful. You know you are having a good time when you arrive at 7 pm and then realize it is almost 10 when you leave. Our steaks were fantastic by the way.
They do a Cesar salad table side and make the dressing fresh. Nice feature. I can recommend the filet ordered medium rare. Mine was perfectly prepared and was enjoyed with a baked potato al a carte. Perfect meal and superb service. A little pricey but great service so worth it to me!
