LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
We drop in sometimes and eat at the bar...This night we had a booth. Great martini, caesar salad and baked potato with veggies...(husband had a steak). I had never looked in the back..Very large restaurant. Room for parties. Good service with an old school feel IE the caesar salad prepared at the table. Always like it.
service was great, especially for being so busy on new years eve.
food was not worth the price. the desert was not bad but you really can't go wrong with chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.
had the surf and turf, steak was nothing special and crab legs were fare.
I would have figured they would have pulled out the guns for the occasion. but maybe they were too busy.
the rosemary kabob was over cooked.
restaurant was great when it first opened years ago. Don't think I will go back.
They were a little off their game early New Year's Eve. We've eaten at both LG's locations many times, and usually have no complaints. Everything was OK, but my wife's order wasn't right, (which they corrected right away), and they needed to be reminded to bring my drink. The food was good, and the service friendly, but for some reason wasn't as smooth as usual. One thing that did detract from our enjoyment of the evening was the waiter serving the table immediately adjacent to ours. He was very LOUD. So much so, in fact, that we found it jarring. I don't know if their was a reason for this, but we found it very intrusive and imposing. I'm sure we'll eat there again but, on this night, they just weren't at their best.
It could have been a very nice Anniversary dinner. Everything was great except for the kid at the next table watching TV on her ipad and all the flashing lights when every adult at the table (5) felt compelled to snap photos with their iphones. They behaved as if they had rented whole the place out for the night. Honestly, in addition to rude and loud, some people are plain oblivious.
We ordered steaks that were perfectly prepared. Side of macaroni was excellent, the asparagus was a little over done, but acceptable.
This restaurant has a great atmosphere for a place where one can wear vacation casual and enjoy an upscale meal. Deserts of chocolate chip cake, cheesecake and creme brûlée were good.
The only drawback for this meal was the waiter. He tried to push for additional food orders which was unseemly in this type of establishment. The service or lack thereof was more like dining at Denny's.
Wasn't expecting a barking dog INSIDE of the fine dining establishment. Also wasn't expecting our "cash change" to be given to us in the form of a gift card. (We had a gift card from Christmas and used it. We added cash for the balance and the waiters tip. Our change from the cash was given to us in a gift card!!!!) Never heard of such a thing. We asked the waiter to reverse it and he did.
The couple with pet dog should have been seated on heated patio. Was told the couple was long time customers. Guess what…..so are we for 9 years, but we leave our pet at home when fine dining. I have already email the restaurant and also mentioned to the manager on duty. Removed 2 stars for the 2 "never heard of" incidents.
The meal was incredible.
The food, the ambience were all what you would want for a classic (though now supposedly dead according to the WSJ) steakhouse, though I suspect reports of its demise are a bit exaggerated. The steaks and sides especially the Caesar salad made at table side and were all perfectly done, and ample.
We have been Chop House customers for years but will now switch over. Our experience was outstanding. My request for a nice table in a quiet area was honored. We were in one of the smaller dining rooms and the ambience was outstanding. The meal was great - steaks cooked perfectly and eve tender. The sides were good and the Caesar salad amazing. Seevice
Matched the quality of the food. Job well done. We will be back.
My family goes here every Christmas Day. The food is always great and the service impeccable.
Only thing I didn't care for was the wedge salad. The bacon bits were too hard, and overall I have had much better wedge salads elsewhere. All in all, was very enjoyable. Waiter was great, attentive. Steaks of course are always good. Will return next year for sure.
My husband, daughter and I go to LG's on Christmas Eve for our daughter's favorite meal of prime rib. We've had the same server two years in a row. Not only did she remember us from last year, she remembered where we sat and details about our lives we told her last year. This is just an example of how they treat their customers. The servers are sharp, efficient and friendly. If the servers are good, the food is even better. Their prime rib is perfect and their Caesar salad is the best in the valley. My husband and daughter share the ahi appetizer. They can't resist, even though they know they will be splitting-at-the-seams full. We look forward to our visits every time.
This restaurant is the perfect steak house. We had five in our party and everyone thought their steak was cooked perfect. Prime is the best bar none. Our server (Kristin) was outstanding. She had a great attitude and makes you fell valued as a customer. This is truley a five star restaurant. Well worth the money and we'll be back.
For some reason, after eating here numerous times, it wasn't the same. We got seated in an empty room (the rest of the place had plenty of empty tables but i guess you have to spread the wealth to the other waiters). No one came to greet us for quite some time- then one person came, poured us water and left. Then, many minutes later, another (a waiter this time) came and greeted us, took our drink order and left. Then someone else came over to ask if we decided on our drinks. It took quite a while to get our wine and it was done without much fanfare. There was no personality attached to the service.
I love this place and plan to give it another try. I just hope this isn't a sign that it's going downhill.
Some people eat to live, others live to eat. This was a 'live to eat' experience. The service was welcoming, friendly and professional. The food was prepared to our liking and was delicious, from the warm rolls to the exquisite dessert. Oh, and the steak was everything we had expected. Over-all,a great dining experience!
We discovered this place years ago and make a point to stop by every time we are in the area. Consistently incredible experiences at both locations although we most visit the La Quinta location. The steaks are delicious and you must order the table side caesar salad. If you can manage to save room for dessert the dessert tray is quite impressive as well.
We took our son here to celebrate his 19th b day. We told them when we checked in that it was his b-day. It took 10 min after we sat down to get a drink order and another 20 min to get a food order. For what we paid for this meal it is not even close to rival steakhouses such as Ruth Chris, Mastros, Morton's, no one ever acknowledged my sons B day and we paid for his dessert. Would never go back, to many other options with better experience and service with equal or better food. Very disappointing.
have been a regular for many years and have always rated LGs highly.
this night, they slipped a bit.
The Caesar salad was missing ingredients (garlic, red wine vinegar) and was too heavy with the parmesan cheese.
The filet mignons our group had were great, but my Bone-in NY was bad news.
Service was also a bit uneven.
We expect more from a high end steakhouse.
Cesar salad very poor, took a long time to get drinks, meat over cooked, mack & cheese very average, like a kids meal.
Most likely will not return.
What happened, we used to look forward to coming to LG's every time we come to the area, which is often. Someone should look into this.
Our server, Joanie, was very attentive and friendly and helped make our anniversary dinner special. The busers are friendly and made sure dishes were cleared quickly and water glasses filled. Our steaks were prepared perfectly and well worth the price paid. Wonderful side dishes and deserts make LGs a first class dining experience.
We have been coming to LG's for several years. This time, I don't know if it was because we had dinner during the weekday, or if they changed chefs, but the steaks where not cooked to what we had ordered. The filet was ordered medium well, came well done, the Bone-in-New York was ordered medium rare, came rare, and the prime rib was ordered medium rare and came medium. Sadly this was what we had for my mother's birthday dinner. Don't know if I'll return after this.
