LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta Ratings and Reviews
Quite possibly the best filet I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked (medium), hot (plate is heated to 500 degrees our waiter told us and kept it hot the entire steak) and tender. Sides were generous for two people. Steamed asparagus was ok - however - what did we expect from steamed anything. Our waiter - Armando - was attentive without being intrusive. Finally GREAT wine list. Terrific experience. We were in from out of town and if ever there again, would definitely come back.
This was my second time there and, as usual, the service was amazing. The steak was tasty but, to be honest, the steak at the Palm Springs location has a rub that is not available here and that made a big difference as the rub was sensational. While I really like the restaurant, I would have to say that the dessert menu is not very inspired and could use some updating. But the salads are all excellent as is the French onion soup.
I have been going to LG's for over 12 years and the LaQuinta location since they opened. They even opened the roof for my wife and I. Never have I had a bad experience but... The other night my wife and I went to the LaQuinta location and we were seated in the backroom. Do not recall the waiters name but I not seen before. I ordered my usual Filet and my wife the Chicken (which is excellent by the way). Both meals were served on Appetizer plates! Chicken was hanger over the side of the plate. Ordered the cauliflower and received scalloped potatoes instead. We were starving so we started to eat anyways. Quite some delay for the typical waiter follow-up. When he finally showed and I indicted the incorrect side dish, it was "Oh". No offer to replace, take off the bill, etc. One additional comment about the size of the plates. We had two side dishes and using the same size for the entree we could not place on our main dish. Not sure what happened, but I hope it is not a trend.
Freddie was our waiter, and provided top notch service, with humor, and helpfulness. He was amazingly prompt whenever we needed or wanted something.
The food was incredible! Several people said we had to eat here. SO glad we did! The steaks were awesome, as were salads and apple pie.
We were somewhat casually dressed due to the nature of our visit to Indio, but were treated with charm as I would hope. Thank you!
We came for New Years Eve. Fantastic food. Steak cooked to perfection. Side dishes were excellent too. Friendly, prompt service. Accommodating staff that made room for seven of us on a busy night. Great experience but pricey. Well worth it for a special occasion. Gave 5s for food, service and ambiance. Only reason overall rating is a 4 is because of high pricing.
Our dinner was very nice - the restaurant accommodated our reservation change from 8 to 4 seamlessly and our table was ready even though we arrived a bit early. We were seated in a room with a big round fire pit in the middle which kept everyone warm. Our waiter and busboy were very friendly, although our main waiter did forget a couple of things - while the others wanted a cocktail before wine, I just asked for a soda water with lemon. He said he'd bring the lemon on a dish and put it on the table which was fine. The cocktails arrived but the soda water never did so when we asked, he said he thought I'd just wanted plain water...if that were true, then the plate of lemon would've at least arrived since we'd had a discussion about it, but that never arrived either..I would've preferred that he simply said he'd forgotten which would have been no big deal and easily remedied. When dinner arrived, the steak was a disappointment.. I ordered the bone in ribeye which is my favorite. I like the center to be pink and warm. I explained to the waiter that while the med/rare description sounded appropriate, I thought maybe I should go one more step to the Medium because I did not want it bloody in the center. He suggested Med/Rare Plus. I took his suggestion. The steak was purply-red in the center which grossed me out! I ate a little on the outside edges but my friends asked the waiter to take the center part back to the kitchen to cook it more. I picked at a baked potato for 10 minutes while everyone was finishing their entree, yet still no steak. Having had my fill of a simple potato, I just asked the waiter to box the steak whenever it was ready. :( This restaurant gave me the expectation of being wonderful, yet it did not live up to being a special dining experience.
Decided to spend our Christmas Eve dining here after a recommendation so it was a 1st time visit for our family. (even though we've lived here a year & a half)
Service: multiple servers so was a little confusing & weren't overly attentive. Food: French onion & squash soups were good & served hot which was nice. Meat was a BIG disappointment except for my son's steak kabobs. Others ordered one porterhouse steak & two small filets. The porter house was so fatty my son had to spit out many pieces & was just a very bad piece of meat. The two filets were okay but nothing great. (expected a better flavor) Dessert: apple pie & ice cream were good.
To be honest, we were expecting to be "wowed" by the dining experience but were not. Especially for the prices! (we normally don't care what the bill is as long as the meal is great) *We did appreciate the fact the manager removed the cost of the porterhouse from the bill, but would rather have had a good piece of meat to start with in place of a credit. Maybe it had something to do with it being a holiday? Not sure. We were kinda bummed knowing it is a local restaurant and a so close to home. (much closer than Morton's) Will have to think about trying it again another time.
We were looking for a good steak dinner and happened to see an AD on TV for LG's Steakhouse, made a reservation in La Quinta location. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed outstanding service! We were seated at a table and asked to be moved to a booth...no problem! We ordered cocktails that were fabulous - my husband had an Oldfashion and I had a vodka martini that was so cold there were ice crystals in it. Delicious!!
I ordered the New York Steak (14 oz) my husband ordered the T-Bone Steak (16 oz) - both came out SIZZLING HOT! Perfectly cooked medium (I let mine rest for about 15 minutes)
The bread is crusty on the outside, and tender in the middle, just like I love it...with COLD Butter!
We split a Classic Wedge with Blue Cheese Dressing...an a Baked Potato...Outstanding!
I had a glass of Smith and Hook Cabernet which paired nicely with the Steak.
We loved our waiter, Orlando...and all the staff were very attentive! We will definitely be going back and highly recommend this restaurant!
I have worried about LG’s since the great LG died. I only go a few times a year and it’s always great. Although we didn’t have Joe, he did check in. Our server was trained by Joe and married to LG’s grandson. She did a spectacular job.
In terms of food, I had the ribeye ($48) and it is my new #1 dish. I also order the basket of tumbleweeds as my side.
This was out first visit, since we do not typically go out for steak. We both had the ribeye steak which was unbelievably good and tender. The cut was awesome. We split the beet salad and a loaded potato. Both were good. The service was excellent. We will come back for another special occasion.
