LG's Prime Steakhouse - La Quinta
Food was excellent, the Summer Special menu is a great value. Steaks were done perfectly, tableside Caesar salad was OK but too much grated cheese (should have used thinly sliced Parmesan). Service was very slow, seemed like they were understaffed. Not sure if we’ll be back.
Service not as good as usual. Slow, and forgot to enter part of our order.
We actually had reservations at another steakhouse that night in Rancho Mirage to celebrate my birthday, but we cancelled it and went to our favorite LGS, and quite frankly, the Best prime steakhouse! Always!
This was a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding and the food was outstanding. We have decided to make this out go-to dining place.
Our server was amazing. My boyfriend has been coming here for years prior to moving away from the area and took me for the first time on our little mini vacay. We ended up with a server that recognized him and has been working here for years. He was wonderful. The only negative was the bar. They did not serve great drinks. Beer was flat, cosmo was terrible and old fashion was even worse. Not sure the bartenders have been trained for mixing drinks. Food was amazing, especially the Cesar salad.
My husband took me to LG's to celebrate my birthday. Our server was fantastic, friendly and relaxed. And, man, he was there (or one of his assistants) the minute they anticipated we might need something. We had the Cesar Salad which is made tableside and wow it was fantastic. In fact, we had been there about 10 years ago and went back when we were in Palm Desert, just because of this awesome salad. Then I had the filet mignon (medium well) and it actually came the way I ordered it on a hot, sizzling plate. Sometimes at high end restaurants, the chef refuses to cook my steak the way I like it, but not here! It came out perfect. Very simply dressed with butter. My husband got the salmon with the lemon sauce and the piece was huge! We shared green beans and the scalloped potatoes which are to die for. They remembered my birthday, quietly -- and with class -- with a small piece of chocolate cake. Overall, it was a perfect evening!
Service was great. Filet Mignon was great. Asparagus was a little al dente. Bread pudding was a little dry, We will be back for more!
We love LG's. Have been going there for 20 years. Some of the best steak in the world. One of the few places left that still makes table-side Caesar salad … and it is wonderful. Wonderful service. Beautiful setting. We try to go every time we are in Palm Desert.
It was my husband’s birthday and the evening was perfect. Service is always incredible and our meal was delicious. They also brought my husband a beautiful desert.
Great unpretentious service. Best Caesar salad we’ve had. Steak was done to perfection. Had the 14 day aged t-bone. Very tender and flavorful.
We were on vacation in pa Quinta and wanted to go to LGs because it is supposed to be a really great steak house. The service and atmosphere were quite good but they definitely had a problem cooking what they are known for. While we were enjoying our cocktails we noticed the the table nearest us sent their steak back three times because it was under cooked before accepting it. My wife ordered a filet, “medium”, and I ordered a salmon. The steak was so over cooked, did not have even a glimmer of pink and the salmon was cooked to the point of being extremely dry. I should had said something at the time but we were both tired from having traveled earlier in the day and we just wanted to get back to the hotel.
While LG works hard to be a great restaurant - it seems a little high priced for the overall quality. Great service though. For those prices, I want Snake River Farms Wagyu.
Service was excellent, food top notch, but it would be nice to have a few less costlier items on the menu for the light (or to share) appetite. Wine list could also offer a few less expensive choices for the less particular pallet. We will go back, but probably only for special occasions.
Thank you for your reply. For the menu, we do offer salads, appetizers and our Summer Menu at less price. Our wine list has over 400 selections from every price point. Please ask your server for suggestions next time and we will be sure to get you something to your liking.
The meat was fatty and lesser quality then last experienced there.
Don't go here off-season at these prices. Hostess seated us adjacent to booth with 2 toddlers, although room was less than half full and I had reserved for a 'special celebration. After yelling kids and no parental supervision we had to move mid-meal. Main courses were excellent. Side dish cauliflower au gratin was harder than crunchy, even tho we asked waiter to ask it be well done because this has happened 2 times before. Inedible raw stems! Either cut off stems or COOK THROUGH. Overall, not sufficient quality attention to details for the prices.
Caesar salad was horrible - over dressed
Served steaks on such small plates there was no room for sides - was given salad plates to used after asking
Would not go back
Ambience and food quality are always excellent.
But an upscale place like this needs lighter choices - simple salads for example. They should offer a decent champagne (not Prosecco) by the glass.
Generally it’s just too heavy!!!
Thank you for your comments. In regards to the salads, we do offer a number of salads. Beet salad, Wedge, Mixed Greens, Caprese Salad and our Caesar. We also do have splits of champagne always available.
Always a pleasure dining at LG's. We celebrated early Father's Day. Their steaks are simply divine. Service was excellent.
Great service!! Steaks we're awesome, the seafood tower was a little light, but everything else was excellent!!
great place for a perfect stake. Great service, nice restaurant. Highly recommend
We've been in the desert for 19 years and this was our first time at LG's. Previously we had heard not-so-good reviews, so didn't go. Lately we heard good reviews so we decided to try it. So glad we did. The steaks were prepared perfectly and delicious, and the service was excellent.
As always, outstanding food and service
Service was slow and not up to par for a steakhouse. Bread took a good 20 min to get to the table. Then, the server forgot my wine. I ordered a filet medium rare and normally the server asks “warm red center pink throughout” this one said nothing. I get my steak and it was definitely cooked medium. I sent it back, they cooked it more. I didn’t want to be a nightmare and send it back again but if I’m paying $50 plus for a steak it better be done right. At the end of the day, I enjoyed my company and my wedge salad was great but the service was beyond poor. I didn’t ask for anything but he deducted the wine from the bill. I tipped way too much now that I think about how bad the experience was. Also, music is pretty loud and bad - maybe Sinatra would be a better touch.
Great service and the 3 course menu deal was excellent value. Well done to Ben the GM and his team.
Wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend LGs for a special occasion.
Favorite Desert/La Quinta restaurant. Amazing steaks and great seafood options as well. Great wine list!
Always an outstanding experience for the meal and service.
This visit was during Palm Springs Restaurant Week. LG’S had a great $49 3 course menu. Very diverse, something for everyone. I had the Salmon, it was perfectly prepared, so so tender. Love this place.
I’ve been looking forward to dinner at LG’s Prime since moving to the desert three years ago. Last night was the opportunity to accomplish that dream utilizing Restaurant Week. The La Quinta location is HUGE, but the Sunday night crowd was sparse. Even so, the noise from the adjacent bar with two televisions tuned to sporting events made conversation difficult. We departed from the Restaurant Week price fixe first by ordering tableside preparation of Caesar Salad and second by paying the upcharge for two Ribeye steaks. The Caesar was expertly prepared in the traditional manner: the wooden bowl being thoroughly coated with smashed anchovies before the EVOO, coddled egg yolk, huge amounts of Parmesan cheese, etc were mixed with the Romaine lettuce. It was extraordinary, the best Caesar I have had in decades. The ribeyes and the petite filet were perfectly prepared and seasoned, really excellent! As for the sides: mediocre at best. The broccoli was over cooked, the cheese sauce undistinguished, the mixed vegetables bland and a little mushy and the garlic mashed potatoes unremarkable. As for the dessert, the bread pudding was unlike any I’ve had: the consistency more like a solid dry holiday fruitcake — neither of us had more than two bites.
Besides the Caesar and the steaks, the other noteworthy factor was the exceptional service by the waiter, runners and bus personnel.
Summary: go for the tableside Caesar and the prime beef. Enjoy the professional staff and avoid the sides!
We were there to celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary. My daughter booked the reservation for us. We really enjoyed ourselves and plan on coming back soon. The food was excellent, the restaurant was wonderful and our waiter was polite. Our glass was never empty. It was a joy to celebrate our anniversary with LG steakhouse. Thank you!
We had a lovely evening. Staff was attentive and food was delicious.
The service was good, however my rib eye was way to fatty and I could only eat part of it.
The sides were nothing special and wedge salad was drowned in dressing. We were there for restaurant week and I should have stuck to the filet. My steak was not worth the up charge.
We were pleased to be seated right away, and a drink order was taken promptly, but then we waited for 15+ minutes for our server to return to take our order (we haven grabbed another server to ask who our server was). When our food arrived, my wife's steak wasn't not cooked to order. Our server brought her another one cooked correctly very quickly (I think it was the special that night, so they may have had some going already). The steak was good, but I've had better.
Caught the restaurant week special that was the perfect combo of everything you would need in a meal. it was a birthday and anniversary all in one. Staff was great.
We’ve eaten at lgs Palm Springs and thought we would try lgs in La Quinta.
The food was fantastic as usual but the ambiance and service from our waiter made all the difference.
This will be our new La Quinta steak joint.
Great food and great service. No complaints! We would definitely go back and are going to stop in for Happy Hour. Their appetizers looked great.
Food is always wonderful! Great service as usual
Service was absolutely outstanding!! The food was also great. My lobster was a bit over cooked so they took it off the bill. Joe is one of our favorite servers in the desert.
Absolutely a fantastic place to celebrate all things life! The food was good, but nothing beats their service. We had the pleasure to have Joe as our waiter and he along with his side kicks did an amazing job. When ordering the Caesar salad, may need to ask for less anchovies as they can be salty but other than that, great experience.
We spent over $600.00 on this meal, which included a lovely bottle of red wine, Caesar salad mixed and tossed tableside and an entre. The Filet Mignon was ordered with crusted Bleu cheese. It came undressed, and when we made note of the omission, our waiter took it back and returned a few minutes later with a Bleu Cheese 'sause' covering the Filet.
