Leyla Fine Lebanese Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
Oddly the restaurant was closed when we showed up for our reservations at 12:30 on a Tuesday! It is one of our favorites so we will be back. I just decided to give three stars on everything since you have to fill out the form completely - though when we actually eaten there we think they deserve 4-5 stars!
Amazing, amazing, amazing! Ask for Andrew to take care of your table, he's tops. The food was incredible, best deboned sea bass I have ever had, and incredibly savory (the dish is the Samkeh Harra). Andrew recommended a great wine for it, Chateu Ksara Blanc de Blanc, incredibly good. The owners are truly nice and friendly people, very proud of their restaurant. You can't miss it!!!!
Just walking in to Leyla you feel welcomed and then you are dazzled by the various foods and spices, attentive service, a nice and reasonably priced wine list. The appetizers, especially the garlicky sausage (stays with you a while) were perfect intros to a whole broiled spiced fish. Only drawback: pita would have been better warm and the pace of service should be a little slower
While Middle East food it is not Persian but Lebanese. This means slightly different that you might expect. Only drawback from higher rating was the $2 charge for four slices of Pita bread. Really should not charge but should tell you there is a charge . Food and service very good and location on king street wonderful
Dolly made us feel comfortable and at home in this beautiful restaurant. The Lebanese food selections were fantastic and they taste delicious. We were given outstanding advice on what choices we should make based on our food interests. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Charleston and anyone who lives near Charleston. It's not to be missed.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Royal Meza plates. The many small plates of food served to us were all fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The wait staff was great, they were knowledgeable, efficient, fun to talk with and extremely helpful. And finally the desserts are wonderful too! This restaurant is a hidden gem. Can't wait to go back!
Coming from a Lebanese background we were visiting from out of town and and found this authentic gem during our stay. The food was exceptional, very authentic and made fresh daily. The owner was wonderful and she explained that she takes great care in the quality and freshness of her food and it was so obvious. The service was also outstanding. Don’t miss out on this outstanding restaurant. We can’t wait to return.
Nothing to get excited about. Food was not impressive. I have had better kebabs from street vendors.
Staff was attentive and knowledgeable, but the kitchen didn't perform, especially for the price. I expected much better from a place rated this high in Charleston.
We dined here last year and it was fantastic! This time, it was very disappointing because the food was not good at all, except for the Toshka. Service-wise, they basically forgot about us once the food was served... Not even a water refill.
As always, an amazing night at Leyla's. The food is amazing and the attention by the staff is superb. The hummus is second to none and we love that they offer veggies for our gluten free friends. Their lamb is as tender as you will find anywhere and I can't get enough of their moussaka. Make sure to ask for some of their whipped garlic spread!!!! Thanks again for a wonderful night!
This is our third time at Leyla's and we have loved it every time. Brought a large group of friends from out of town and everyone was quite impressed. Many options for the gluten free friends. Food was excellent even for a group of foodies. We loved having so many choices! Very personal service that you only seem to get from family owned restaurants.
Food and service are fabulous. Great for foodies and vegetarians, though all of the meat served is the best quality. One of those restaurants that both the adults and the children love: they we're exceptionally accommodating to our children, and even though they are picky eaters they loved their meals. Will definitely go there again.
What a find! Mezza Sampler was a perfect way to get introduced to the splendid flavors of Lebanese cuisine. Everything was fresh, well presented, and most importantly delicious. Wait staff and bartender were super friendly, attentive, and helpful. Would strongly recommend and very much looking forward to future visits.
The food at Leyla was exceptional. The owners are from Lebanon and make truly authentic food. The hummus and baba ganush were great. The tabouli was delicious as was the kibbe and grape leaves. I highly recommend Leyla for great Arabic food. Oh, and the dessert was so good - much better than any I've had in the states. Osmalieh (sp) with pistachio ice cream. Delicious! The ice cream and desserts are made on site.
