At Leyla, the fine dining experience is enhanced by the owners' hospitality and the friendliness of the staff.
The marinated whole fish, bones removed, was fantastic! Steamed artichoke was great as well. Leyla is a family owned business and you can tell by the way they treat you. We will be back soon.
Just what we were looking for, incredible food which happened to be vegan! Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant to any vegan and non-vegan alike!
The flavors are outrageous! We LOVE this place. Recommend it highly! Be sure to talk with the owners - they are are lovely and there most of the time.
Our group ordered the pre-set menu...hot and cold mezze, kebabs and baklava...along with some Lebanese wine. The mezze were delicious, the baklava was outstanding, and the wine went perfect with the meal. Enjoyed our first visit to Leyla's...and will return!
Leyla is such a great restaurant. The owners and staff are always so welcoming and attentive. Food is really good.
Wonderful experience! Food was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful, and atmosphere was perfect for a pleasant meal! Will definitely be going back.
This restaurant is the best in Charleston. Absolutely loved it!!
Truly one of Charleston's hidden gems. Delicious food served by an attentive staff that is largely made up of the owner's family - a group of people for whom this is more than a job but a calling. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and head to this wonderful addition to Charleston's restaurant community post haste!
Staff was awesome food was so fresh we enjoyed it very much
Wonderful upscale Lebanese restaurant. Great food and service, they treat you like family.
It is always a delight to dine at Leyla’s.
Excellent food and drink. Wish I lived closer so I could frequent Leyla
Enjoyed an awesome vegan dinner on a date the service and food were dead on point and very friendly! I even got to practice my French before my trip back home on Sunday.
Food was excellent. Delicious appetizers. Wish they had more beer options. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food and service were impeccable, I highly recommend and I’m a restaurant snob!
Dining at Leyla's is always a treat, but not necessarily reserved for special occasions. The family owned and operated restaurant never disappoints with the perfect combination of friendliness, atmosphere, and delicious food. We love it and go as often as we can. You will not be disappointed!
As a child of Lebanese parents I know good Lebanese food and I will give Layla’s that! It’s the real deal!!! Sadly, that’s all I can give them. Every other aspect of our evening was beyond disappointing! The service, the portions and the value were horrible! I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Lebanese restaurant where they charge for Syrian bread??? The bread is what you’re supposed to use as the “utensils” but they charge 2.00/ refill. When a family of 5 orders 4 appetizers and you get one basket of basically 8 small triangles of bread I’m not sure what your supposed to do....eat hummus, baba ghannouj, and kibble nayyeh with a spoon? When we overheard the owner telling our waiter we got more bread we asked if we were being charged and she said “it costs us a lot of money to store the bread”. She reluctantly removed the charge but the bottom line is that it’s a ridiculous fee! I also have never been to a restaurant where a party of five was considered a large party and a 20% gratuity was added to the bill. No wonder they basically ignored us and could basically care less that we were not happy. The beef and chicken kabob meals had one skewer with 4 pieces of protein on it and was I have never had a Lebanese dining experience like this in my entire life!!! A true Lebanese dining experience should be generous and welcoming this was Overpriced and Extremely disappointing.
THE FLAVORS!!!! Authentic and marvelous!!! We heard comments from the table next to us and they too were saying how great everything tasted. The service was FAST. I highly recommend the sampler platters!
Good way to taste a bit of everything. Can't wait to go back.
We have eaten lots of Lebanese food over the years. This was the best. The wait staff was attentive and not overbearing. The ‘white coffee’ was a great addition to my dessert. We will return.
The food and service was amazing. I was told by a few people who live in Charleston to go there immediately from the airport. They were right. It will definitely be my go-to spot when I’m in town. The food was excellent, the best Lebanese food I’ve had in a while.
We are big fans of Mediterranean cuisine and so when we found this restaurant close to our inn, we immediately headed there for dinner. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially considering that I was using crutches at the time, and the service was quite prompt and friendly. We had the lentil soup (excellent), the baba ghanouj (a little smoky for my taste) and shared the Lebanese moussaka stew and the chicken sharwerma, Both of us had the mint tea. All was very tasty and filling, although I have to admit I prefer the Greek version of baked moussaka. The ambiance is very pleasant and we truly enjoyed our meal and the hospitality.
How refreshing to have so many vegetarian options in the South! The food was quite tasty however the Fattoush salad had soo much vinaigrette that just drowned the salad, too much for me. The falafels were good, I didn't realize they came in a yogurt sauce though. That was my bad for not asking. My husband had the whole fish, he absolutely loved it!
This is an authentic and wonderful experience. It is a family owned restaurant and you can definitely taste the care that went into every single item we ate. We will definitely be back!!!
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice lunch at Leyla during a recent visit to Charleston. The food was outstanding. We are looking forward to returning for an evening meal as soon as possible.
Outstanding as always!! Love the food, service, ambiance, everything!! It is a very nice restaurant and they were so nice & accommodating. We brought our 6 month old, who was welcomed as well!
FANTASTIC place!! The food is the best we had in Charleston, the wait staff is hilarious and engaging, honestly one of the best places I’ve ever eaten! Just a great experience overall! The best played, in my opinion, were the Mediterranean Sea bass and the chicken shawarma, but good stuff all around!
My sisters and I had a wonderful dinner at Leyla’s while we were in Charleston. We all got the vegetarian sampler and found all the items to be delicious and varied. We received personalized service from the owner and waitstaff and everything we ate was prepared fresh and was a delight. We also enjoyed dessert which included items we had never had before. If you are a fan or would like to try something new, I highly recommend Leyla’s.
The hot and cold
Mezzas were amazing. There are so many choices. The service was fantastic and very attentive. Highly recommend everyone take a trip to Lebanon via Leyla’s-a culinary road trip.
I am a local and this is my wife’s favorite restaurant so we went there for her birthday. This family owned restaurant makes you feel at home and serves you an awesome experience along with some of the best flavors in town!
The Lebanese Cuisine at Leyla is authentic and perfectly prepared. I am in a 'Ladies Dinner' Group that Dines in Charleston, bi-monthly. Leyla is now a favorite! The Owners are very attentive to the food itself, the level-of-service Guests are receiving, and, the Owners make an effort to personally Greet and watch over the experience of each table. The ambiance is nice, as is the location on King Street. Definitely a Winner and highly recommend.
Leyla's was everything I was hoping it would be. We have eaten in Lebanon, so we had high expectations. The hummus and baba ganouj (sp?) were outstanding. The service was attentive but discreet. The dessert was incredible.
I have eaten at Leyla numerous times and have never been disappointed. It is always my "go to" restaurant to take guests and out-of-towners. I believe the high quality is due to the owners being consistently present to monitor the quality of the food and service. Even if you're not familiar with Lebanese food, give it a try, the staff can guide you to something you will love.
Very friendly staff and terrific food, if you crave Mediterranean.
My girlfriend is in town for college and I’m from Ohio we were looking for something different. The staff was great! We’ll be back before the summer is over.
We love this Restaurant and we truly appreciate the owners. They r always warm and welcoming and the food is consistently delicious! Thank you again
Owner was a bit rude and complained about the fact that I changed my reservation a few times (we are in a tourist location and were doing a historical walk). She also made a fuss about how splitting two credit cards costs her more money which was very strange.
From the moment we walked in the door the staff was attentive to our needs. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. As someone who knows Lebanese food I would 100% come back and highly recommend anyone in the Charleston area to check them out.
The food was terrible there's nothing that I ordered or that my wife ordered that was enjoyable. On top of that, the prices were outrageous.
Leyla's Lebanese restaurant was pretty busy on Friday night, March 16, 2019. We were happy to have had a reservation, however, the food could have been much better for the prices they charged.
I ordered the hummus with pomegranates and it was delicious. Also, the mudjadarra was really tasty and well done. The other dishes were not spot on, and I have had better Lebanese food in other places. The service was very good and the ambiance is nicely done.
I would give it another try, but I would be very selective with the dishes I ordered.
Everything was amazing, the food and service was excellent and the owner was so nice and helpful.
